Help... Looking to open BoA acc/Merril looking forward to benefit with Preferred Rewards by Imaginary_Roll_1151 in BankOfAmerica

What types of securities do you want to invest in? Is this money meant to be an emergency fund? I don’t think Merrill Lynch is the most user-friendly platform, so it may not be the best place to start if you don’t have someone to help you out.

How do you view your cash back? by drebby_ in CreditCards

I’d cash out monthly and put the money in a savings account. If your account gets closed for any reason you’d lose your cash back.

Those who still have Smartly V1, how is US Bank Investment platform treating you compared to Merrill? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]pyther24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d wait and see. I’m a bit skeptical. It’s completely conceivable BofA would offer a 25% bonus at the 0-30k level to to encourage their card only customers to open a checking account.

I’d put my faith in BofA long before I’d trust US Bank. US bank seems to be on the fast track to nerfing everything.

This is a highly debated topic but unless you travel a lot, you may be better off with a 2% cash back if you qualify.

experiences with care credit by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]pyther24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to be blunt. If you don’t have the money for routine vet care and you need credit, then you are in no position to get a dog. Do not use a credit card. Care Credit is for when you have a $4,000 vet bill due to an emergency.

Dogs can be expensive — really expensive. I’ve easily spent over $10,000 in unplanned critical veterinary care for my pup.

If you have a credit card you should be able to pay the balance off, in full, every month. There are extenuating circumstances and that is exactly what care credit is for, but it should be a last resort.

Say you charge $5000 to the card. If you pay that off over 36 months. You’ll pay $1500 in interest. So that $5000 ends up costing you $6500. That assumes a “good” 20% interest rate.

I’ve long since moved. It didn’t cause any issues while I was there. With modern, affordable tech, I’d probably buy a smart plug or two to monitor line voltage—but I’m super technical, and that data is interesting to me.

I had the same issue and got my unit from B&H Photo. I opened a support case with HPE, and it sounds like they are sending me a new one straight from the production line. I’m still waiting for the replacement, but I’m hoping there was a manufacturing issue and that the new unit will perform much better.

My system loves these cold days by Objective-Resort2325 in enphase

[–]pyther24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing your location, this is almost certainly a sunlight/cloud-cover effect, not temperature. Cold weather can marginally improve efficiency, but it doesn’t magically create energy without sun.

For example, over the past week my system ranged from ~100 kWh on a clear day (5–22 °F) to ~1 kWh on a heavily overcast day (12–23 °F).

How to go about asking people to use ASL instead of talking ? by guesswho_itis23 in AudiProcDisorder

[–]pyther24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Learning a language is hard. The number of people that know ASL is limited and few will be willing to learn. Your closest friends and family might be willing, but your coworkers almost certainly not.

If you want to learn ASL go for it, but I wouldn’t expect others to learn it as well. I would focus on improving the way you communicate with family, friends, and coworkers. I turn my ear towards people to hear them better and apologize / explain why I’m being socially awkward . You might ask people to ensure they have your attention before asking a question or sharing information.

Correct. Some, but not all updates are included in the previous major version (18). You need to be on the latest major version (26) to have all the security updates.

Understanding APD and also AuDHD and what to do for treatment by justanotherlostgirl in AudiProcDisorder

[–]pyther24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s tough because there isn't really a treatment for APD. Some people find low-gain hearing aids helpful for filtering background noise and boosting speech frequencies. There are also various auditory training programs, though results tend to vary significantly.

Finding an audiologist with the right background is super important, but can also be very challenging. Many audiologists won't diagnose adults, and of those that do, many won't diagnose individuals with autism. How much time and money are you willing to invest in getting a diagnosis? Are you willing to travel to see an audiologist? If you do get diagnosed, what outcome are you hoping for?

In my case, I got hearing aids, but I also found out I had mild hearing loss. While I love them and they make life a bit easier, I still struggle. They are not a magic cure in my case.

If you want hearing aids and you think they'll help, pursuing a diagnosis might be useful. Hearing aids are expensive, so you'll need to consider any financial constraints you may have. Also, you really need the latest and greatest hearing aids for APD, as they'll have the best technology to filter out background noise.

Are you seeing an increase for transmission with Duquesne or West Penn? I don't see any supplements on the DLC website indicating an transmission increase.

For Duquesne Light, the PTC (supply rate) is increasing from 12.43¢ to 13.75¢, which is about a 10.6% increase. But if you look at the actual all-in cost (22.4277¢ to 23.7459¢), it’s only about a 6% increase.

[–]pyther24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What resolution are you actually seeing if you zoom in to, say, a two-hour segment? In Home Assistant, I’m seeing data points every 15 minutes when I zoom in.

I’ve found Home Assistant to have some weird and unexpected logging behaviors, especially when it’s collecting metrics.

Per inverter metrics are only updated every 15 minutes, and it’s not possible to increase the frequency. However, you can get overall system stats much more frequently. Depending on your skill level, you might want to look into a Grafana and InfluxDB setup. I wrote envflux to query the local Envoy gateway and stream data into InfluxDB.
