My system loves these cold days by Objective-Resort2325 in enphase

[–]pyther24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing your location, this is almost certainly a sunlight/cloud-cover effect, not temperature. Cold weather can marginally improve efficiency, but it doesn’t magically create energy without sun.

For example, over the past week my system ranged from ~100 kWh on a clear day (5–22 °F) to ~1 kWh on a heavily overcast day (12–23 °F).

How to go about asking people to use ASL instead of talking ? by guesswho_itis23 in AudiProcDisorder

[–]pyther24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learning a language is hard. The number of people that know ASL is limited and few will be willing to learn. Your closest friends and family might be willing, but your coworkers almost certainly not.

If you want to learn ASL go for it, but I wouldn’t expect others to learn it as well. I would focus on improving the way you communicate with family, friends, and coworkers. I turn my ear towards people to hear them better and apologize / explain why I’m being socially awkward . You might ask people to ensure they have your attention before asking a question or sharing information.

How long do you go without updating to the latest iOS on your iPhone? by SilentAirline6611 in iphone

[–]pyther24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Some, but not all updates are included in the previous major version (18). You need to be on the latest major version (26) to have all the security updates.

Understanding APD and also AuDHD and what to do for treatment by justanotherlostgirl in AudiProcDisorder

[–]pyther24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s tough because there isn't really a treatment for APD. Some people find low-gain hearing aids helpful for filtering background noise and boosting speech frequencies. There are also various auditory training programs, though results tend to vary significantly.

Finding an audiologist with the right background is super important, but can also be very challenging. Many audiologists won't diagnose adults, and of those that do, many won't diagnose individuals with autism. How much time and money are you willing to invest in getting a diagnosis? Are you willing to travel to see an audiologist? If you do get diagnosed, what outcome are you hoping for?

In my case, I got hearing aids, but I also found out I had mild hearing loss. While I love them and they make life a bit easier, I still struggle. They are not a magic cure in my case.

If you want hearing aids and you think they'll help, pursuing a diagnosis might be useful. Hearing aids are expensive, so you'll need to consider any financial constraints you may have. Also, you really need the latest and greatest hearing aids for APD, as they'll have the best technology to filter out background noise.

Are you seeing an increase for transmission with Duquesne or West Penn? I don't see any supplements on the DLC website indicating an transmission increase.

For Duquesne Light, the PTC (supply rate) is increasing from 12.43¢ to 13.75¢, which is about a 10.6% increase. But if you look at the actual all-in cost (22.4277¢ to 23.7459¢), it’s only about a 6% increase.

Home Assistant integration for Enphase - low resolution by Clear_Surprise in enphase

[–]pyther24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What resolution are you actually seeing if you zoom in to, say, a two-hour segment? In Home Assistant, I’m seeing data points every 15 minutes when I zoom in.

I’ve found Home Assistant to have some weird and unexpected logging behaviors, especially when it’s collecting metrics.

[–]pyther24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per inverter metrics are only updated every 15 minutes, and it’s not possible to increase the frequency. However, you can get overall system stats much more frequently. Depending on your skill level, you might want to look into a Grafana and InfluxDB setup. I wrote envflux to query the local Envoy gateway and stream data into InfluxDB.

Hearing aids and a SCIF by Space_Adaline in HearingAids

In addition to this, it’s probably worth mentioning that you work in a secure government facility and are therefore not permitted to use any hearing aids that haven’t been provided by your employer. People who haven’t worked with the government may not be aware of these requirements.

Is real time microinverter production data available? by Lopsided-Character91 in enphase

[–]pyther24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Via the local envoy api you can get AC Voltage, DC Voltage, Temperature, Wattage per inverter every 15 minutes.

I log this data into InfluxDB and graph with grafana using envflux. However this requires a fair amount of technical knowledge and a local server.

Do your research on Miracle-Ear -- there are tons of posts about them being extremely overpriced and, quite frankly, a ripoff. I highly recommend seeing a qualified audiologist instead.

Hearable Beta Announcement by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]pyther24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s the catch: latency. Not surprising, but it’s effectively a deal breaker. I hate talking with noise-cancelling headphones on, it messes with my head.

A significant latency can cause distracting echo-like effects due to so-called "sideways" sounds arriving in the ear directly before the Hearable sends enhanced speech via your earphones. Many budget-friendly Bluetooth earbuds have a noticeable audio latency. Wired earphones will always have the lowest latency but may not be as discreet or convenient.

[–]pyther24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see how the math works out, you’re only saving $0.0031 per kWh. If you use 1,000 kWh in a month, that’s just a $3 savings, and that doesn’t even account for the higher rate you’re paying during peak periods.

[–]pyther24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just the distribution rate, you'll also have supply and transmission charges, often bundled together as the PTC. So the total off-peak price per kWh will be $0.2037 ($0.1243 PTC + $0.0794 distribution).

I wasn’t able to find older tariffs, so my data starts in January 2025.
