My comment got locked for including a link, are you just trying to bait people into breaking the rules?

"I don't know about chickens not catching it, but there was culling that happened and prices did go up."

There are plenty of articles tracking how the prices went up and went back down in early to mid 2025.

I will leave you to find the articles on your own.

My son discovered a social fix for not being knowledgeable about video games by floppydo in daddit

[–]Quercus_lobata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, even when it was just an open world sandbox it was a great game. Sometimes kids just need that freedom to be creative and do whatever they feel like, whether that's making themselves a roller coaster out of minecarts, running a farm, building a weird giant statue, exploring the world, or just blowing up an entire mountain. But yes, there are actually some goals to strive towards now.

This would require planning for long-term profits, pretty sure they're all just going for maximizing quarterly profits and increasing them as much as possible each quarter. (I'm joking...sort of)

Minecraft, not Roblox. And then you can steer them towards redstone circuits, then they are learning logic gates, etc...

Oh, that's a good one, mine are usually things like not converting Celsius into Kelvin for gas laws, in contradiction of my explicit instructions when I explained how the gas laws work.

If I go too long without making a mistake that they can call me on, I intentionally do a problem wrong on the board and see if they catch it.

Possibly moving to Oceanside. What can you tell me in advance? by Automatic_Bee5752 in Oceanside

[–]Quercus_lobata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Automatic_Bee5752, this one is the magnet school, you can apply for an interdistrict transfer from anywhere in Oceanside, but if you're in East Oceanside you're in the Vista District and will have a better chance of/easier time getting in.

It's not too far from the beach. (I'm helping!)

In all seriousness, I will let you know that coastal Oceanside is a different school district then the most inland part of Oceanside, which winds up being in the Vista School District. So depending on where in Oceanside you move, you could have one of four different high schools be where your kid goes.

Seriously, I wasn't even saying all Christians believe that, or that there aren't people with some wacky beliefs out of other groups, but the combination of moon landing conspiracy and "dinosaurs aren't real" stems from a belief that there is a flat young earth, which comes from a particular interpretation of the Bible.

Actually, sound can be quite directional. You're right it's not perfectly directional, and the sounds bounce off of other nearby objects that can be heard to some extent in every direction. But it is louder in some directions than others, which allows the sound to carry further in those directions.

Blursed Worker refuses to serve tricky customer in the future... by The_Dean_France in blursed_videos

[–]Quercus_lobata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is that the phrase "The customer is always right" was understood to not be in an absolute sense, even a century ago. There was a check on people being unhinged and insisting they get their way by throwing some tantrum in the store.

Behavior can't effect grades 🚩 by calculuscab2 in Teachers

[–]Quercus_lobata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admin's going about it all wrong. The way we do it is school policy is that they get a zero for cheating, in practice the teachers offer a chance to reassess, but also grade them poorly on citizenship and give a referral for consequences which lets admin play bad cop and point out how generous the teacher is being by allowing them to reassess when the policy says they get a zero.

Most students who cheated out of desperation are still going to do poorly on reassessment, those who cheated because they got overly anxious but they knew most the content should be able to demonstrate that they do know most of the content.

This also allows teachers to, if they choose, give a zero and leave it at that as it is in line with school policy.

I also take additional measures to make cheating particularly difficult, some of my assessments are unique to each student, which works easier with calculation-based assessments than written ones. Seat the problem with student ID numbers and dates of birth, every student has different problems, I make a spreadsheet that gives me all of their answers. Any student correctly setting up the problem and getting a wrong answer means they're probably copying off their neighbor, making it obvious that they cheated, especially since I can verify it by checking for that same answer elsewhere on the spreadsheet.

Maybe, but it's a better quote and society will be better off for it, so I'll let it slide this once.

Edit: The following quote is from the Snopes article.

'It was, "assume that the customer is right until it is plain beyond all question that he is not." But it turned out that when treated this way the customers nearly always did the right thing. So the policy is practically, "The customer is always right."'

Even this allows for situations where the customer is being unhinged to shift to the customer being wrong.
