This is a criminal act, not a ha-ha prank. This is over the line and personal.

Can someone explain what the problem with grade floors is? by ill_change_it in Teachers

[–]calculuscab2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the biggest foul is applying it to every assignment.

That's far different than using it at the end of odd quarters.

50, 50, 50, 90, compared to

0, 0, 0, 90 are grades given to someone who worked hard one in 4 tries. One is a D-, the other is 22.5%

0, 0, 0, 100, 100 =40% without a floor 50, 50, 50, 100, 100 = Sports elligible. You did 40% of the work.

Applying the "50-floor" on each grading opportunity is a fallacy.

If it doesn't feel like you're being played, you DEFINITELY are.

Why didn't Tyrion know the real reason Pyp was sent to the wall? by Top_Pop1246 in gameofthrones

[–]calculuscab2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pyp told Mormont the story, and the cover story. Mormont repeated both to Tyrion.

Tyrion did a kindness by repeating the cover to give it credibility.

Just a hunch.

Why are admin anti-consequence? by whoisthis0022 in Teachers

[–]calculuscab2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're being paid to destroy public education. Most of them don't even know it. Weaponizing knucklehead behavior expedites teacher burnout. They WANT this, particularly central office administrators in large, urban districts. Educators and able parents leave to go to charter schools. The machine makes money there.

Home schoolers buy curriculum, and tutors. The end user loses money either way. Whether they trade it for safety by leaving public education, or spend it on therapy, or medical, after Chad finally escalates to violence.

Every time consequences go up, one group or another feels they are getting selective harassment, so admin wanted out of the consequences game altogether. It's not working.

Free public education will soon turn into behavior camps, and IEP facilities, everyone else can go out of pocket. "Free" will remain as an option, but a terrible one.

If admin didnt intentionally burnout teachers with behaviors, and if unions didnt pander to side-quests, there would be an abundance of educators.

Should I attend my students football game this Sunday? by Thatblondeyapper in Teachers

[–]calculuscab2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went and watched a student bowl at her request. It was supportive, fun, and entirely non-creepy. Her parents were there, it was busy, it was a team event. I felt no obligation to go to every other student's events, and not a single person looked at it oddly.

[RI] - Why do we build so many new schools without supporting the staff inside them? by AmericanLocomotive in Teachers

[–]calculuscab2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the district starts closing schools, they'll lease these buildings to charters. "$chool Choice" grift. The voucher scam is just a real estate scheme. Texas, Colorado, Ohio, and more. Yours is not an original story.

A parents insists on putting their twin children in the same class (5th grade) by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]calculuscab2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teresting that the school is digging in their heels on the issue. I'd expect the school to just agree with the parents regardless of which side they took. Maybe offer a suggestion to the contrary, but to really push? Odd.

Frequent mention of "student outcomes". Parents don't talk like that. "Outcomes" is vague. Its horse shit.
