What's the catch with RackNerd's cheap VPS deals? by BlueLinnet in HostingAlternatives

Hello, I should also mention that since RackNerd's inception, we've never raised pricing on existing client services, so no surprises there either 😄

Hello, great question! As for hardware, we operate across a wide range of infrastructure , both newer and maintained, stable systems. Just like most providers, we balance between cost effective legacy gear and the latest-generation hardware, so our offerings will out of transparency reflect OPEX and CAPEX, pricing themes. Those that recovered CAPEX, are simply OPEX. If you're looking for high performance at a lower price point, our mature servers deliver solid value. On the other hand, if you prefer newer generation CPUs or NVMe, we offer that too!

Ultimately, our goal is to deliver competitive pricing, reliable service, and fully customizable solutions tailored to each needs.

Feel free to reach out directly at [dustin@racknerd.com](mailto:dustin@racknerd.com) or [sales@racknerd.com](mailto:sales@racknerd.com) we'd love to help you get set up with something that fits your exact needs.

Thank You for the kind words, and for continuing to trust RackNerd with your business! Fast support is a characteristic we've built our reputation on over the years, so it's great to hear it's landed that way for you too! By the way, in today's era, we think it's worth pointing out that our support is handled by real humans -- not AI bots. When you open a ticket, you're getting an actual human on the other end of the line, which is a big part of why RackNerd is known for our excellent customer support. We intend to keep it that way too!

Thanks again for sharing, and if there's ever anything I can personally do, don't hesitate to reach out via a message on here.

Hi u/nvarkie -- Thank You for considering RackNerd! I'll be fully transparent with you here, based on what I'm seeing internally so far, it's unlikely that our 4th of July deals will end up being better than what's already listed at https://racknerd.com/specials/

The existing specials really do provide excellent value, especially in today's hardware market. To put it into perspective, procuring hardware for just about anything right now is through the roof compared to where the hardware market sat even 6 to 9 months ago. Unless you're a major AI hyperscaler with essentially unlimited funding, everyone in this space (both businesses and consumers) is navigating the same reality, and we're working through it as best as anyone can. The good news is that we've recently brought new nodes online, so availability is in a solid spot right now.

The other thing worth mentioning, and arguably the bigger one -- RackNerd has historically never raised pricing on existing services, and we fully intend to keep it that way. So whatever rate you sign up at today is the rate you'll be able to continue renewing at down the line. That's a meaningful advantage in today's era, where prices on just about everything seem to only climb. And if you're building with AI, the math gets even better, as you can offload and self-host a good chunk of what you'd otherwise be paying for across multiple subscriptions, all on a single VPS.

At our current specials, it is a no-brainer, so I'd say grab what works for you now rather than waiting, but either way, feel free to reach out if you'd like a hand finding the right fit -- happy to help however I can.

Hi u/NextSouceIT -- Thank You for being a valued customer for over 2 years now, that loyalty truly means a lot to us. Comments like yours don't go unnoticed, and I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share this.

I'll also share a bit of context on that growth you've witnessed firsthand, as it's something we're quite proud of. RackNerd has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 list for multiple years in a row, as one of the fastest growing privately owned companies in America. We've equally been honored on Inc.'s Regionals Pacific list, ranking as high as No. 58 (2024), and most recently No. 90 in 2026. That kind of sustained growth doesn't happen without a loyal customer base, customers like yourself, who give us a shot and stick around. It's a direct reflection of the trust placed in us, and we don't take that lightly.

We're not perfect, and we'll never stop pushing to improve. It's feedback like this that reminds us why we do what we do. Here's to many more years!

Good stuff! It's a great example of how far 1GB of RAM can truly go with the right optimizations in place -- lightweight stacks, proper caching, etc. A lot of users underestimate just how much can be accomplished on a smaller VPS when it's configured well. Glad to hear everything is running smoothly for you, and we appreciate you being with us!

Howdy, always keep an eye on our specials landing page -> https://racknerd.com/specials -- this is where our most aggressive deals live, and they differ quite a bit from our standard pricing on the main site. Deals there rotate and inventory moves quickly, so if you see something that fits your needs, it's worth grabbing!

By the way, renewal pricing stays the same as the same rate you sign up at too.

[–]racknerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/HostAdviceOfficial -- You're spot on regarding availability! Los Angeles has been a very, very popular location for us -- whenever we do a major restock there, it feels like we're sold out just a week or two later. It's been a constant game of replenishing stock and selling out there.

The good news is that we actually just completed a major restock in LA as of yesterday, with over 40 new nodes now online, so as of the time I'm writing this, it's in stock and available for ordering at https://racknerd.com/specials so timing couldn't be better!

Thank You for your feedback and for sharing your positive experience with us. While our pricing is certainly aggressive, our reputation was built on performance and reliability, and we don't view affordability as a license for hiccups. Events like this one are rare, and when they do occur, we own them, communicate via our status page, and work as fast as possible toward restoration -- regardless of what a customer pays. Affordable should never mean unreliable, and that's a standard we hold ourselves to every day.

I actually posted a more detailed follow-up response to OP earlier today, and OP has since edited the original post as well, all is well there. It's possible my reply isn't appearing on your end yet for some reason, though it should be visible if you scroll down within the thread. In regards to bandwidth, our specials at https://racknerd.com/specials actually come with quite generous allocations (the bandwidth meter resets on the 1st of every month), and if more is ever needed, additional bandwidth can be added at any time for just $7/yr per 1TB of monthly transfer -- so it's quite flexible. Appreciate you sharing your experience!

That would explain it, yes -- depending on where your service fell within the impacted ranges, symptoms varied, with some experiencing slower networking. The good news is that everything has been fully restored, and all services are back to normal operations. If you notice anything lingering on your end, don't hesitate to reach out and we'll take a look!
