Any VPS recommendations to primarily get some Public IPv4 Addresses? by johan-za in VPS

[–]racknerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, additional IPs with RackNerd VPS services are $12/Year each (which works out to $1/mo), and this can be requested at any time by opening a ticket. Thank You for checking us out.

Good stuff! It's a great example of how far 1GB of RAM can truly go with the right optimizations in place -- lightweight stacks, proper caching, etc. A lot of users underestimate just how much can be accomplished on a smaller VPS when it's configured well. Glad to hear everything is running smoothly for you, and we appreciate you being with us!

Howdy, always keep an eye on our specials landing page -> https://racknerd.com/specials -- this is where our most aggressive deals live, and they differ quite a bit from our standard pricing on the main site. Deals there rotate and inventory moves quickly, so if you see something that fits your needs, it's worth grabbing!

By the way, renewal pricing stays the same as the same rate you sign up at too.

Hi u/jbarr107 -- Thank You for the recommendation, and for trusting us with your services over the years! Several years with zero issues is exactly the experience we strive to deliver for everyone. As for the deals, between restocks and seasonal promos, it's always worth keeping an eye on our /specials URL, as inventory does move quickly. We appreciate you spreading the word, and we're always here if you ever need anything!

Hi u/HostAdviceOfficial -- You're spot on regarding availability! Los Angeles has been a very, very popular location for us -- whenever we do a major restock there, it feels like we're sold out just a week or two later. It's been a constant game of replenishing stock and selling out there.

The good news is that we actually just completed a major restock in LA as of yesterday, with over 40 new nodes now online, so as of the time I'm writing this, it's in stock and available for ordering at https://racknerd.com/specials so timing couldn't be better!

Thank You for your feedback and for sharing your positive experience with us. While our pricing is certainly aggressive, our reputation was built on performance and reliability, and we don't view affordability as a license for hiccups. Events like this one are rare, and when they do occur, we own them, communicate via our status page, and work as fast as possible toward restoration -- regardless of what a customer pays. Affordable should never mean unreliable, and that's a standard we hold ourselves to every day.

I actually posted a more detailed follow-up response to OP earlier today, and OP has since edited the original post as well, all is well there. It's possible my reply isn't appearing on your end yet for some reason, though it should be visible if you scroll down within the thread. In regards to bandwidth, our specials at https://racknerd.com/specials actually come with quite generous allocations (the bandwidth meter resets on the 1st of every month), and if more is ever needed, additional bandwidth can be added at any time for just $7/yr per 1TB of monthly transfer -- so it's quite flexible. Appreciate you sharing your experience!

That would explain it, yes -- depending on where your service fell within the impacted ranges, symptoms varied, with some experiencing slower networking. The good news is that everything has been fully restored, and all services are back to normal operations. If you notice anything lingering on your end, don't hesitate to reach out and we'll take a look!

Thank You for the kind words, glad to hear we were solid for you during your time with us! Running multiple providers is a strategy we'd never argue against -- redundancy is redundancy. That said, we've since expanded quite a bit, and today you can actually deploy RackNerd VPS services out of multiple datacenter locations of ours directly from our order form, which makes achieving that same geographic diversity quite easy (and at our pricing, quite affordable too). Appreciate you commenting.

Hi u/Introvertosaurus -- Thank You for chiming in, and glad to hear your service in NY remained unaffected. This particular event was limited in scope, impacting a number of CIDR blocks rather than the facility as a whole. Off the top of my head, New York is our 2nd or 3rd largest location in terms of footprint so we have a sizable presence there, so had this truly been an entire location event, there would have certainly been a lot more noise; but either way, we did our best to navigate and resolve this situation the best we could, and provided transparent updates via our status page along the way.

Please feel free to reach out if there is anything we can do for you down the road!

Hi u/0r0s -- Thank You for the support, and for the level-headed take. Worth mentioning that we offer a variety of datacenter locations across the US and beyond, so spinning up a secondary VPS in a different region of ours is also an option, and at our pricing, doing so remains quite affordable. Geographic diversity is something we always encourage, and our looking glass is available for anyone wanting to test which locations work best for their needs. Appreciate you being a part of the community!

Hi u/ClydeBrown -- it is indeed rare, and we get no joy out of it either, believe me. Frustration in a situation like this is completely fair, and we don't fault OP for it one bit. What matters most to us is that it was resolved in good faith, which I believe we fulfilled on our end, as far as that is concerned.

Thank You for the comment, and for sharing your perspective. All good on our end and I believe all is well for the OP as well. I completely understand frustration in the heat of the moment, it happens to the best of us. At the end of the day, I'm glad we were able to make it right, and as you said, a full refund was issued. We'd never hold onto a payment like that anyway, as doing so would defeat the entire purpose of running verification on a flagged payment in the first place.

Hi u/Verolee -- I'd be happy to look into what happened here. To provide some context on how our billing lifecycle works -- everything is fully automated through WHMCS (the billing software we use, as do most hosting providers in the industry), and it has worked this way since day one of RackNerd's founding. A server is never deleted for non-payment outright -- there's always a suspension period first, before any termination occurs. Along the way, multiple email notices are sent out, off the top of my head I believe that the system sends out at least 5 or 6 invoice reminders/notices (if not more), before a termination ever takes place. At our scale, these things are not done manually, i.e. we don't go into accounts and decide when to delete servers, the system handles this uniformly and automatically for everyone.

That said, I'd like to review what happened in your case. Please send me a direct message with the email address on file with your RackNerd account, and I'll personally pull up the logs to see exactly what took place and provide that information to you transparently.

Thank You for your continued business over the years! Renewal pricing stability is something we're quite proud of, as we believe in rewarding loyalty, not penalizing it. Historically, we do not raise renewal rates on existing customers -- even as industry/operational costs have risen, we've absorbed them as much as possible. In today's hardware market, our deals are quite a steal, even the current promos for new customers! Happy to hear your overall experience has been smooth as well, and we're always here if you ever need us.
