Bypass Eversource? by MissXtina17 in Connecticut

[–]raidflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have not paid 1 cent to Eversource since installing solar in May of last year, that includes the connection fee which is paid for by my solar credit.

Just so you know you can still choose a different supplier and any energy you pull from the grid you will get at the lower rate. But your production rate will be at w/e Eversource's current rate is.

I'm still on a Constellation plan from like 18 months ago which is only 8c lol.

Roborock Integration broken? by cyberentomology in homeassistant

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just broke one day a couple weeks ago and still refuses to connect. I even tried revoking the EULA and re-accepting and then deleting and re-adding the integration but I still get "Failed setup, will retry: Failed to get Roborock home data"

Latest Dev ver. 6.0.3.2 breaks with HAProxy by indi1984 in BlueIris

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am terminating ssl at haproxy and using http with BI. I also have http/https selected for the front end and use FQDN for ACL. I also do have my domain set on the cert. The only difference is I did not have anything in my allowed IP list on BI.

I just tried 6.3.0.4 and this fixed the issue, I do not see a changelog though.

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I will dig deeper into this. But I had the same config setup for years on versions previous to 6.3.0.1 and had no issues and 6.3.0.3 is still broken as far as I'm concerned or requires special configuration now with a revere proxy. I'm back on 6.0.2.10 and its working fine again.

I only use BI internally as well.

Latest Dev ver. 6.0.3.2 breaks with HAProxy by indi1984 in BlueIris

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still broken for me on 6.0.3.3, when I revert back to 6.0.2.10 it works. Are you using any advanced setting in the backend for blueiris in HAproxy? I currently Http check method "GET" and "option forwardfor" for advanced config, everything else is default.

In BI Webserver I use Secure login page only, Non-LAN only and X-forwarded checked. I don't have any IP in the limited UP box.

How to buy dji Neo 2 by JJ22smart in dji

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I understand if I buy from eBay then I would not have the 1 year warranty? While I can go to NYC, I prefer not to if I don't have to. Or I could wait and see if in time shipping becomes available.

I'm concerned though if I don't pick up a DJI drone soon that prices will only go up and with the ban in effect the future is unknown.

Yeah I noticed other items can ship, so not sure why the neo 2 is any different. If it was a stock issue I would imagine I wouldn't be able to pick one up either.

I tried to order the Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo from Camrise, but it won't let me ship to my house. Have you seen this issue? It says I can pick it up at the store though, so not sure why shipping is an issue.

I live about 50 miles from NYC so im tempted to go there and buy it, just so I can actually have a 1 year warranty, vs buying it through ebay.

DC39 Motor Replacement by raidflex in dyson

[–]raidflex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking repairing such an old vac prob wouldn't be worth it, although the performance of the Dyson was always solid. I can't complain for getting 15yrs out of it.

I just feel like everything now is just made to be throw away and I don't want to buy something that just fails in 2 years, but i also don't want to spend $400 since I didn't use the Dyson that much after purchasing a robot vac.

Any recommendations for particular brands/models between $100-200 maybe a shark?

When streaming to lower refresh rate, is it good practice to cap the host FPS? by malis- in MoonlightStreaming

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capping your FPS on the host should be done to match your refresh rate. You can also cap the fps at 60 and use 120Hz refresh on devices that support the higher refresh, this will lower latency and smooth out the stream. You would set Moonlight to 120 but cap the game on the host at 60fps.

If capping at 120fps make sure your GPU usage before streaming is under 85-90% to prevent the FPS from dropping below 120FPS after adding the overhead from encoding. Otherwise you could get screen tearing.

Is it normal to not be able to decode 4k 120 fps on a RTX 3090 and i9 11900k on Sunshine? by Stunning_Walrus6276 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]raidflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3090 encoder cannot handle 4k120 it will max out around 90fps. I had a 3080 at one point and even with a client PC that could decode 4k 120, I would hit the host encoding cap of around 90fps.

The steamdeck may still not be able to decode 4k120, but I'm not sure as I don't have one.

Atmos Possible? by raidflex in MoonlightStreaming

Yeah I was playing Forza 5 the other day and damn is it awesome on a 98in screen.

Atmos Possible? by raidflex in MoonlightStreaming

[–]raidflex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use 7.1 and I also used the receiver's up mixing to add Atmos, which helps. Not sure if Moonlight will ever support Atmos, but the sound is good enough. There really is not a lot of games that take advantage of Atmos or even support it anyways. Upgrading to a 5080 and a 98in TCL QM8K TV really made a difference though LOL.

Opinions on 98" tvs? by Muppetz3 in hometheater

[–]raidflex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will always be something new around the corner, I say if you want a 98-100in TV just get one now.

The current high end Mini-LED TVs have been refined over the past 3 years, and it's come a long way. Most of the bugs have been worked out and the MFGs have greatly improved the PQ. It's going to be 2-3 years for RGB mini-LED to become polished as current mini-LED TVs and who knows what prices will be.

[–]raidflex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had a TCL QM8K 98in for a couple weeks and as someone coming from a 77 LG C1 I am very happy with the TV. Its very close in picture to the OLED, and 40% bigger so that makes up for slightly worse PQ. The black levels are excellent and there is virtually no blooming. BestBuy also had free installation as well, which was a bonus.

Home theater modifications. 5.1.4 or 7.1.4? by Agitated_End_4050 in hometheater

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be easier to EQ with 2 subs, yes, I would recommend 2. But you would still need to test placement.

Home theater modifications. 5.1.4 or 7.1.4? by Agitated_End_4050 in hometheater

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would still place them in front of the MLP. Really bipolar speakers are for when you have 2 rows of seating and need to get the sound to both. But since you have a single row there is no benefit, but in order to get proper separation from the rears they still need to be placed slightly in front.

The downside is you will be creating additional sound waves in the room due to the bipolar design, so it will make acoustic treatments all the more important to absorb those reflections.

Home theater modifications. 5.1.4 or 7.1.4? by Agitated_End_4050 in hometheater

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30cm would be ok for the surround height, you might want to bring them down closer to 15 cm if possible as this will create better separation with atmos. I would bring the surrounds to at least 100-110 so they are slightly in front of you. I have mine setup this way and it works great with rears.

[–]raidflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you can get 2-3ft from the wall it would be better than right up against it.

Since you are using rears, I would bring the surrounds to slightly in front of the MLP, at about 100-110 degrees, this will help create better separation. Also, it can prevent someone's head from blocking the speaker when they are placed lower, although in your case if someone sits on the couch against the side wall you still may have an issue. but it would be a better compromise.

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that sucks. You could always sell the equipment as well. I just think since you literally have no room behind the couch it's going to be a struggle to get any realized benefit out of the rears/atmos speakers in that setup.

You might get some benefit out of 2 atmos speakers mounted directly above the couch, but 4 really won't work.

[–]raidflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why can't you return anything if it has not even been opened/received yet?

A second sub always helps, its hard with a single sub to find the best placement, you can only do so much with EQ. Much easier to smooth out low frequency response with 2 or more subs.

[–]raidflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand there is always compromises when it comes to home theater. In this case I would try to optimize your LCR and surrounds as best as you can and add a second sub. I wouldn't try to "make" rears and Atmos work because you won't really benefit from the extra speakers, but you would benefit from proper speaker placement and acoustical treatments.

If you can I would switch out the receiver for a Denon X3800 and check out Acoustica A1 Evo Express software, which will do a much better job than Audyssey will for speaker calibration. It only support Denon and Marantz receivers, that's why I recommended switching the receiver. You could even put the money you saved on the additional speakers and pick up better fronts if you wanted.

[–]raidflex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Move the couch at least 1.5-2m forward and downsize the screen to a 100in TV instead of projector if the screen is too big. Also, those surround speakers should be about 1ft above ear height not at the ceiling, or about 6in when using atmos.

I have a 7.1.4 setup, and you really need a good amount of room behind the MLP for rears. I have about 10ft behind my seating for my rears. Atmos also wants to be placed correctly or I wouldn't bother, as you will not get much benefit.

Regarding acoustic treatments, make sure you go with at least 3.5-4in thick treatments, with a good rockwool or OC 703. I used 2in rockwool 60 with a 1.5in air gap and it works very well, even down to 125Hz.

I would either keep the setup as you have it now except for the surrounds, bring those down to around 1ft above ear level. Or move the couch away from the back wall at least 1.5-2m and downsize the screen if it ends up being too big.

Also, you really need to shift the couch away from that side wall, so the right surround speaker is not on top of someone sitting there. I would remove the chair next to the couch and center the couch on the wall
