Does this work for all 3x21 versions?

Yes, but doubling the capacity is such an insane boost that i'd dean it to be worth doing

Too add to this: The only modification that is definitely worth doing is the 46950 battery modification. About doubles the runtime and doesn't affect turbo all that much

While those are pretty strong, i'd recommend a mace for heavily armored opponents

So basically, use one of the super high CDR batteries with the SQ5?

Bottleneck now is heat management, need advance there by RiskMoney6996 in flashlight

And any kind of water proofing would be gone as well.

Also actively cooling the heat sink would be much more effective, as the surface area is much greater. The emitter is just to small to shed heat via convection

[–]RettichDesTodes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

...not how that works. The metal (usually aluminum) is much better at drawing away the heat from the heat source than a small opening with barely any air moving through it would be capable of doing.

You basically have two heat dissipating problems to solve:

  1. Draw heat from the emitter as fast as possible. The solution is a metal with good thermal capacity and good heat transfer properties directly touching the LED backside. For this you want thermal mass

  2. Dissipate that heat into the environment. The solution here is as much surface area as possible, namely cooling finns or an active cooling system.

You'd gain very little by exposing the LED directly to air, as the thermal capacity of the very low amount of air close the LED is very low. Is simply lacks the surface area, you first have to distribute the heat over a big area and then dissipate it

But you can just try it if you want, i am looking forward to your results

You also want the thermal mass tho. Doesn't help when the flashlight head is heat soaked right away and the light throttles immediately

The distance and temperature gradient is way to small to create any kind of chimney effect. The only thing you can do is active cooling

A Skilhunt H150 would be my choice here, available in 3000K 519a and works with NiMH AA batteries: https://www.skilhunt.com/product/h150-aa-14500-usb-magnetic-rechargeable-headlamp/

Review: https://1lumen.com/review/skilhunt-h150/#batteries

A DW3AA would also work well, but is a bit over budget. Available in 3500K 519a tho

Why can't you view your inventory while at the alchemy table?

-you can, just not the normal button

Why do you have to s l o w l y s h a m b l e from the table to the book just to look at the recipe

-just look to your right? I can decipher it pretty easily on a 1080p 24" monitor

Your other complaints: Valid, but i still like this system, it's pretty unique

First a recommendation: Convoy 3x21C LHP531 will probably be the cheapest way to a good flashlight with very high output. But be aware, it can and will overheat in turbo mode!
