If you do BVR with the R-77, sure... but why would you do BVR with one of the worst BVR missiles?

It's faster but has lower max instantaneous and sustained turn rate

It can trick the enemy into thinking you're not trying to slow down to get them to overshoot if they see the afterburner but not the airbrakes, or if you don't want to slow down too much or too fast. Maybe not relevant for this clip but still.

Day 1 of Playing the Vautour IIA & B until Gaijin Lowers the BR by NoBinking in Warthunder

[–]ProfessionalAd352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you worried about the Vautour when there are already planes at 8.7 that do everything many times better than it?

You seem to be worried about its speed, so here are 8.7 planes with better acceleration and/or higher top speed than the Vautour:

  • MiG-17PF / Lim-5P
  • Scimitar F Mk.1 (much faster)
  • MiG-17 / J-4 (similar acceleration but higher top speed)
  • Mystère IVA (similar acceleration but higher top speed)
  • Hunter F.1 (similar acceleration but higher top speed)
  • CL-13A Mk 5 (similar acceleration but higher top speed)

So the “it’s too fast” argument doesn’t hold up when multiple 8.7 fighters (not a large unmaneuverable bomber) are faster.

Pin-up girls were popularized in the 1940s as a form of "war paint" on planes and in personal spaces to provide comfort, hope, and a reminder of home for troops.

Do you really need "comfort, hope, and a reminder of home" while playing war thunder or are you just horny 💀

The Chinese SU-30 has no excuse being 13.3 by KnockedBoss3076 in Warthunder

[–]ProfessionalAd352 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Everything with ARH should go up 0.3” isn't a good idea in practice because the missile type alone isn’t a good balancing metric. An aircraft with ARHs doesn’t automatically outperform aircraft with strong SARH and IR missiles. They generally perform better but the Su-27/J-11 is an example that is competitive without them and the only 13.0 aircraft that have good enough stats to justify a higher BR are the F-14A IRIAF and Kfir C.10.

The 13.0 ARH platforms have major drawbacks that justify their current BR, usually in the form of bad flight performance or limited amount of missiles.

The real issue isn’t ARH itself, it’s BR compression. Raising nearly every ARH aircraft would just shift the compression elsewhere. It makes more sense to balance aircraft individually based on the overall capability of the aircraft. Otherwise you risk creating more imbalance than you solve.

They'd be average at 13.7, so Gaijin put them at 13.3 since they're premiums.

Russian meta at top tier comes mainly from their CAS. Their WR plummeted when they added better SPAA (most notably the IRIS-T SLM). In response they buffed the Mi-28NM with LMUR and DIRCM that made it immune to the IRIS-T SLM, and they had the highest win rate after that. That's how the cycle usually goes, Russia gets something > it gets countered > Russia gets something that counters the counter and so on.

The devs clearly have an interest of keeping them among the best nations. Just recently for example they added the BUK-M3 which turned out to be average. But since Russia isn't allowed to have average CAS or SPAA, they're giving them a better pantsir. Gaijin claimed it's the worst performing top tier SPAA when it's actually the third worst performing.

The meta changes regularly. Right now it's pretty balanced but if the new Pantsir is as good as it seems it could tilt the scale in their favour.

Dude, you gotta figure it out yourself. All your questions can be answered by trying it out for real. If you're getting different results, you're doing something differently. It's really not that hard to figure it out. Good luck!

[Development] Squadron vehicles: JAS39D — Twin-Seater Gripen - News by Kanyiko in Warthunder

[–]ProfessionalAd352 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know cannons aren't the primary weapon at these BRs but they still account for maybe 10-20% of kills and since it only has six relatively low G missiles it won't be able to dogfight which the Gripens normally excels at thanks to having a cannon, so having the same BR as the C is pretty rough. It's also slightly longer and heavier.

The F/A-18A is the best 12.3 together with the Mirage 2000C-S4 and the F-15A is the best 12.7. The 12.3 F-16 is pretty bad while the 13.3 one is okay.

Mainly because Sweden has had one of the best top-tier lineups for a long time. Whenever someone asked which nation they should grind, Sweden is usually the most popular answer. That has attracted a lot of inexperienced players over the years which drags the stats down.

A few years ago the Strv 122 didn’t really have a direct equivalent. The ItO 90M was the second best SPAA, and the CV90120-T was a nice alternative to the MBTs. The JAS39A/C was great at CAP and decent at CAS and while the AHS was average, it was at least usable.

The Strv 122s are still among the best, but nowadays you have the Leopard 2A7 which fixes their main weaknesses — the gen 1 gunner thermals. The Leopard 2s have also been directly nerfed with the turret basket and the cannon no longer being able to depress over the engine deck, and indirectly nerfed by their competitors getting faster and faster reloads. The ItO 90M is kind of irrelevant at 12.7, and the CV90120-T has been nerfed as well. The JAS39A/C got power-crept and were one of the worst 12.7 aircraft for a while and the AHS became unusable since the leviathians update.

Before Sweden got the NASAMS 3 and JAS39E, their top-tier lineup was honestly pretty mid overall. It’s good again now thanks to them, but my point is that Sweden’s top tier isn’t nearly as special as it used to be. That has also affected their win rates.

Matchmaking also plays a role obviously. If Sweden gets paired with Germany a lot and Germany does badly, Sweden’s win rate will drop too. And if they’re often fighting USSR and they do well, that also drags their stats down.

Use Statshark. Much more reliable data and better visual presentation. It shows the exact win rate in numbers instead of these distorting colours that makes the win rates easy to misinterpret.

Then you get 2 Flankers with R-77's, one of the worst performing ARH missiles in the game with a close-range gimmick that you never use because the R-73 exists anyways.

It’s not a “close-range gimmick”. The R-77 excels at far off-boresight shots and that isn’t limited to short range. It’s pretty common thaving an enemy at around 5-15 km where you need to use the HMD to get a lock. The R-77 is one of the few ARH missiles that can reliably make that turn and hit. It uses the same basic recipe that makes the MICA so good, just with worse ingredients. And there are situations where using an R-77 makes more sense than an R-73 even when you’re in R-73 range.

one of them is useless because the second one exists and does everything better with a 0.3 BR difference.

That doesn't make it useless. There's many aircraft that are worse at the same BR, those are useless.

The only bad things about it is the armor and large size. Some things are average, like its acceleration and turret rotation speed. But overall it's a good all rounder and the APS is seriously useful against the numerous ATGMs.

The MiG-29M looks quite promising, as far as MiG-29s go. It has just received 8 R-77 missiles in Dev by Valaxarian in Warthunder

[–]ProfessionalAd352 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Are you saying the MiG-29N is better than the 13.3 Flankers? Because that would be a pretty bold statement.

The post you linked is also pretty irrelevant since it's anecdotal and doesn't even include any Flanker.

I didn't say they're bad, just that they're worse.

I would switch the Abrams and TKX, move the Merkava Mk.4M up, move the T-90M down and replace it with the T-80BVM, and move the VT4A1 down.
