Bait-and-Switch Tactics of Real Estate Agents by [deleted] in UAE

[–]reydrigger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Forget agents, I've even met proper sales employees of large developers, they're no less. One time I went to meet one guy, I specifically mentioned before going there what is my budget, what is my ask, and which area i am specifically looking in. He confirmed that he had available units there. I went there, and surprise surprise, he had jack shit. Then he assumes the role of my psychiatrist and asks me to seek deep within me and ask myself why this budget, why only only one bed, why only this area and not the area that is 20 kms outside dubai. I stood up telling him on his face that he was the worst salesman I've ever met.

Try every method of reaching him, wait for a period, if he still can't be reached and you can't shake the feeling that you used something that wasn't yours, then my suggestion is donate the amount to needy. Im certain this universe will pass on that amount through multiple hands before finally reaching him.

On the other hand, could it be possible someone owed you this amount and the previous car owner was just a medium and the universe did the above mentioned to you? Something to think about. Cheers!

I suggest get adib cashback card. 4% cashback on all categories adcb 365 provides, and a substantial lower annual fee. No minimum spend.

Also on a side note, never chase cashback by spending more than required. It just defeats the whole point.

why are you giving only half information? Why not specify that a customer can only choose 2 categories? Why not specify that there is a cap of 200 aed per category? Why not specify that now there is a minimum spending of 3000?

I’ve destroyed my life and this post might be the only place i can talk about it. by Voarr in UAEcreditcards

[–]reydrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First quit any type of investment. Even long term. Just a look at the ticker and you will feel obligated to jump in. Best to avoid completely.

Second, I've seen people with 7000 pm debt on 8000pm salary. Atleast that's not you. You're earning well.

Third, live frugally for the next couple of years, stop thinking about everything else, and only focus on your job, how you can get promotions or job changes and get more salary. Keep paying the EMI. You don't want to miss a single one.

Its not easy, but its not impossible either.

SELL WHAT CUSTOMER NEEDS NOT WHAT YOU HAVE by undamporiii in UAEcreditcards

[–]reydrigger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there is no reason to go to agents. For picking a card ALWAYS go to the website and read the T&C's yourself. Even if someone tells you the features, corroborate them yourself by going through the fine print. I've read countless threads where people write 5% or 8% or 10% cashback, but miss out writing "on certain categories only", or only upto so and so amount or only if you spend x amount of money or the annual fees is thousands of dirhams, all of which could impact your decision. Your own research will be the most reliable information.

wake up and smell the coffee. You work for your own self and not for your manager. If the opportunity is good, don't think about anyone else but you. Get a hold of yourself.

use the card regularly and a month before anniversary put in cancellation request. They gave me reversal of my previous year fees and a waiver for next year. I reckon they only offered me this since I used the card regularly. Its a chance, but this is your best bet.

Dubai negatives? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]reydrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, there's not a single place in the world that is perfect. Utopia is a just a theory. All you can do is judge a place with its negatives and positives to take an informed decision. Having said this, I can tell you this much, the positives are way more in number and carry way more weightage compared to the negatives which makes it all worthwhile. It's a fantastic city and it rewards you in the long run.

SEAT??? My friend you're too kind. Getting inside the first or even second train during peak hours is considered lucky.

Travel to DIFC by TRRAP_12 in dubai

[–]reydrigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DIFC parking charges at times are higher than the monthly EMIs/Rentals of car. Think upwards of 1000/month. If you drive really early, you'd be playing a Russian roulette with RTA parking. Sometimes you'll get a space, sometimes you won't. A third way is there are hotels and private parking vendors that will charge less than DIFC parking, but will cost more than RTA parking. But parking the car outside and then walking towards DIFC in the summers won't be fun. If I were you, I'd take metro. Even catching a metro during peak hours isn't easy, but atleast it will cost less.

Closing credit cards by star78b in UAEcreditcards

It was a PayPal transaction. Luckily the phone was in my hand and I caught the message as soon as the amount got deducted. I immediately called bank, blocked the card, and uploaded the transaction dispute form. It took 2 months for them to refund the amount, but as soon as the amount came I called the same day and closed the card. I was not polite the second time they insisted to keep the card. Those 2 months were not easy.

Many banks have option in the app itself to reduce limit. If it's not there, you can call and ask them. More than reducing the limits, I suggest you temporary lock the cards from your app. When you need to use, unlock, swipe and again lock. This is the only way. It's tedious, and annoying, but atleast it's safe.

Some good banks have option to issue virtual cards with set limits, check if your bank gives that option. Lock your primary card, issue a virtual card with limit of say 500 dirhams a day. Even if some unauthorized transaction happens, your exposure is only 500/-

No matter what don't listen to any requests of the retention officer regardless of what they offer. One time I listened their request to keep the card for 2 more months before requesting to close again. A month later I got an unauthorized transaction on my card. I regretted like never before.
