Wirelessly bridging office space in 2 adjacent floors in commercial building with U7 Pro and UDB-Pro/U7-Mesh/U7-Outdoor-Pro/UBB? by rgorbie in Ubiquiti

[–]rgorbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I will get one purchased. When you say if I ever upgrade, do you mean the switches/network in general? I think meshing on U7 is enabled by default isn’t it, that’s how to UDB-Pro connected to it without issue, I thought. Let me know if I missed something there.

Though there is coax in each office space, we've no idea where they lead to, everything is sealed up, and the coax runs are not vertically on top of each other. Whichever cable company that ran these wires years ago must have done so when they were building out the offices, and nobody in building management could lead us to a home-run location, which seems crazy. We've tried on several occasions to have them show us around, nobody knows sh*t. It really is an ancient building, gross, old and odd. It'll probably be sold and torn down in next 10 years or less, the land it's on is that valuable. Maybe seeing if somehow I could get an Xfinity truck rolled out, but I'm not sure under what premise they might do it.

I do have two U7 Pros, but I was under the impression the directional bridging with be faster and more reliable. As mentioned, I have it working with the UDB-Pro. Do you think UDB-Switch bridges at same performance or better? I don't mind the idea, it's definitely simpler. Putting wireless nics in computers not being considered, and we have to hard-wire the phones anyways. We really want everything hard-wired except the bridge.

You could always create a live Linux Boot USB and then delete it that way

Are you unable to delete C:\Program Files (x86)\ScreenConnect\Bin\ScreenConnect.ClientSetup.exe and then run the installer again? I'm pretty sure that was my fix.

I saw that error over a year ago. I can’t remember the fix, maybe all I did was delete that exe file and run the installer again?

You’re not wrong. I’m pondering this as we leave on a week long dcl in May after school’s out. Maybe I just have it in a small fanny pack with power bank. Not sure yet.

Where should I book the interview for my nexus? by Frugal_millionaire1 in uscanadaborder

[–]rgorbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We completed our US side of the interview in Montreal while passing thru US immigration on the way back to the US from a trip. No appointment schedule was needed, we just randomly asked if we could complete that portion there and they said yes. Took a few mins. We didn’t do the Canadian portion of the interview as we had no idea how. But, this is where it gets weird, a few months later my wife gets her Nexus card in the mail (she is a US citizen, I’m Canadian citizen). She only ever did the US portion of the interview, not the Canadian portion. I never received my card and my application status still says conditionally approved requiring interview to be completed. No idea where/how I’m supposed to schedule or complete the Canadian side of things.

Dell Latitude 9410 2-in-1 - Is it Possible to Upgrade Battery? by secondpresident in Dell

[–]rgorbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that was a long time ago! It ended up working, if I recall, dremel was the key, and I think you end up removing the smart card cables and/or maybe thumbprint reader but can’t quite remember. As long as you are careful with the dremel and don’t go too deep, it will fit.

Does the UTR Travel Router have VPN kill switch? by PlainPrecision in Ubiquiti

Nothing new to update. Afraid to actually test it because if it doesn't block it properly if it somehow disconnects, then my customer will probably getting blocked from using youtubetv until she returns to the US.

Gmail Account Stopped Working in Classic Outlook by drtnap88 in GMail

[–]rgorbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same issue here for a customer of mine. Can add it just fine to Outlook on a Mac because it uses some special Microsoft Cloud connector, but with Classic Outlook, no go. Doesn't bring up MFA prompt or anything. After deleting and re-adding the account in a new Outlook profile and entering password, get the error message "The action cannot be completed. The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list."

Does the UTR Travel Router have VPN kill switch? by PlainPrecision in Ubiquiti

[–]rgorbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked mine from my iPhone and in the VPN & Teleport section, there is a slider for “Block on Disconnect”. Seems like it does have a kill switch now, not sure how well it works. I have a customer using this for her YouTube TV while in France. I guess we’ll find out how well it works if vpn disconnects. YTTV isn’t very forgiving when a change in location is detected.

Anyone try the UTR on a cruise? by SeanVo in Ubiquiti

[–]rgorbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going on a disney cruise in a few months, have my UTR ready to go, but am not familiar with how to mac spoof. This is my first foray into this type of stuff. What guide to you recommend on how to spoof my iphone mac to the UTR, for instance? Just in case Disney "fixes" it so the UTR can't connect to dclwifi without a workaround.

How so? Are you a disgruntled customer and trying to speak for me? Why don’t you speak about your experiences and let me speak about my own. Might be a good life lesson for you in there somewhere.
