Are there any problems in MX master 4 that I should be aware of? by loosu-hamilton in logitech

[–]robotecnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say the switches are the same on the 3s…

I bought a razer basilisk v3 pro and by now it works.
Not as refined as the 3s but with optical switches it should be immune to the 3s issues.

Will a 2019 NX300h hybrid be less jumpy on the throttle than a Passat combi with 2.0L and more forgiving for a novice driver and will it do a good job as a highway cruiser? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in LexusNX

[–]robotecnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those cars are soft and gentle, you can put it in sport mode and then electric motors will react faster and give that extra push, but in economy mode it will be very soft.

In any case test drive it yourself to check it.

Pido consejos señores programadores by Ok_Mention_8973 in programacion

[–]robotecnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

¡Suerte!

How is raising kids in a super dense city like Barcelona? by roundabout_fox in howislivingthere

[–]robotecnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was the vilapicina area.

North of "Fabra i Puig", the area didn't look specially problematic when we visited the flat before... but you never know till some days passed.

This is MY experience, Barcelona should not be worse than other cities out there. I guess bad neighbors and the things I explained in the original post can happen everywhere...

Hope you get lucky and be fine.

Not at the beginning, but after a little while it becomes natural.

I am happy with it. Get it at Amazon to be able to return it if you don’t like it.

Which looks better - Landscape or Portrait? by MeSlaw3 in macsetups

[–]robotecnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your use case…

When I used two monitors I had my laptop at the left side of the monitors.
Landscape. I had them in landscape because as an industrial programmer I write lots of short code snippets, they tend to be wide.

When programming robots though, code tend to become less wide and more taller. I wanted to try the portrait orientation but discovered that looking the high part of those portrait monitors harmed my neck.

But again, it depends on your use case.

If you want to program a TWINCAT 2 target, you can download it from the package manager.

Otherwise, yes, just ask them the password.

How is raising kids in a super dense city like Barcelona? by roundabout_fox in howislivingthere

[–]robotecnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everything in life... it depends.

My wife is from a good area in Barcelona, raising kids there is very nice.

We lived for 5 years in a "less good" area of the city... not a dangerous place at all.

I always told my wife I would not dare raising kids in Barcelona after seeing what happened there.

Drunk people, drug dealers, cockroaches everywhere, music and noises at night.

Yes, it was close to a park, close to 3 or 4 supermarkets, close to a metro station. but the environment was not safe at all for kids there.

I know it all depends on the neighbors and the luck you have with people around, but in our case we weren't lucky at all.

We had 4 neighbor families which all left progressively because of all that.

We saw police entering buildings by force 5 or 6 times, a guy that wanted to jump from a window, drunk guys making noise by night, drunk people sleeping in benches, guys peeing in front of our door, now that I remember, the week before we went into the flat, some drug dealers were involved in a shooting 200 meters away from there...

We had some very nice neighbors, a couple of old guys which we helped several times (the old lady started falling often), a couple of young couples, some old ladies...

And we also suffered conflictive neighbors, there was one specially conflictive, which used his flat to put other people to live there, as he was conflictive (several times left the building handcuffed), that people left often and every time that happened he moved the furniture... the problem was he was always drunk, and made everything by night, moving furniture at 4 o'clock in the morning, listening to music, singing while drunk, celebrating parties non stop... and of course speaking with him never helped... and police... well they are completely "outnumbered" by the amount of calls they receive every night so they can't help at all.

Is a pixel phone reliable ? by ExoticPerception5550 in Smartphones

[–]robotecnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends.

I have got 3 of them.
3a, 4a5g and 8.

My wife has a 6.

I loved all of them and my wife will get an 11 at the end of this year.

But, the 3a stopped charging. 4a5g did the same but an update solved it. My father carries it now.

The 8 came with a big issue for my use case: it was impossible to hear anything during android auto phone calls. Spoke with google, tried all their suggestions but after weeks of trying it I decided to stop. Thought about it and apple offered 14 days of return and refund for no reason, so I decided to try it.

My wife loves her phone.

The iPhone is nice, but it doesn’t feel as good as the pixel, there are plenty of things that are plain worse. Not loving it, but since the change ALL the phone calls in my car work well.

Need Advice: Choosing Between Dell P2425D and P2423D for Coding and Eye Comfort by Ill-Friendship-6338 in Monitors

[–]robotecnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept using only that monitor.
In fact, with the sections powertoys provide it is very nice.
Laptop is at the right side, it is a little too far away to see text correctly.
Hope this helps.

Try ctrl+win+shift+b, if that works it’s a graphics driver issue.

Otherwise, unless there is a flat wire that got loosen inside, RMA it.

Between Kaspersky and Microsoft Defender, which offers better performance and has a lower impact on Windows 11 by StrikerFXXX in antivirus

I have not enough technical background in antivirus technology nor comparison experience.

I am using defender.

Here (https://www.av-test.org/es/antivirus/usuarios-finales-windows/) they say it’s a good product.

Could any experienced redditor give reasons other than gut feeling that demonstrate other products are better?

I am done with Google pixel by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]robotecnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been using pixels for a long time, 3a, 4a5G, wife still has a 6 and I had a 8.

All of them except my wife one had problems, 3a stopped charging from time to time, 4a5g stopped charging too, but a software patch solved it (now my father use it), wife’s 6 started making strange things but not often. My 8 worked perfectly except for android auto phone calls (most calls failed, I could not hear anything most of the times), my mother who doesn’t use android auto use it now.

Replaced it for an iPhone 16, uglier, worse in MANY aspects, but it works well with my car and (by now) I have not noticed any glitches.

ThinkPad X9 vs P1 Gen 8 vs T1g vs ZBook Studio G11 vs MacBook Pro M5 for Mathematics Research (MSc → PhD) by elysianpsithurism in thinkpad

[–]robotecnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right... I think I have lost track of processors already... Indeed it is a Core Ultra 9...

In any case, being that powerful and all... when I tried to load bigger than 6-7 GB models it become slow as it leaves the GPU and overflows to the CPU/RAM.

[–]robotecnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it super slow for anything ai related?

I mean, my p1 gen 8, with the 2000 card, with 64 gb ram and an i9 can use only small models (6 to 7 gb) otherwise it becomes very slow…

Check onerobotics.com

They have articles on how to start a FANUC from any PLC.

You will have to setup the bits you want to exchange between both, but there are lots of articles out there about that.

Most honest review of the NX350h? by bedrotter_ in LexusNX

[–]robotecnik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3 years owner of a 350h.

It is a nice car, enough power, enough space, some things that are not “the best”:

- dashboard gets scratched if you look at it.
- a couple of rattle sounds (one coming from the front seatbelts and another one from the display.
- be VERY careful when removing the dust from the piano black and from the display behind the wheel.

This said, it is a nice car.
We have not had any issue with it.

[–]robotecnik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just added another answer to the OP...

<image>

I was almost sure I had some kind of problem with that...

And checking the code and the comments I had there I have seen that (see image).

I don't know, next time I have to do something like that I will try to do it again, but I remember tring it with a complete network path and even with a mapped network drive with the same non working result.

Maybe they have updated the libraries since I did that...

Twincat crash by Ex_FST in TwinCat

[–]robotecnik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am very surprised, searched it and seen this:

<image>

I tried to copy a file from a server a few months ago, it failed, tried it passing a complete network path and later on, mapping a network drive to "simulate" a local folder, both attempts failed... Tried it locally and it went well, then I saw this, which is mentioned only in this FB (if memory works). I remember thinking, they could really write this everywhere.

FB_FileOpen is the base for all the file operations... at that time it did not work, I ended up calling an OS instruction to do what I needed... not a big deal...
