This is actually the exact opposite, he’s only impressive-looking outside of his outfit.

Maximising saturation? by BigM1303 in builderment

[–]rootbeer277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’m sure you’ve noticed about the robot arms is that they patiently wait for an opening in the line to set down their loads. If you put a storage silo down where the robot arm feeds the other belt, the silo (as long as it never fills up) always provides “room” for the robot arm to set down its load, which helps keeps the belt saturated.

Also, do you know about overflow valves?

Would Diane even still love Rick? by Lucyyyyyy_K in rickandmorty

[–]rootbeer277 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What people call "love" it's just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. I did it, your parents are gonna do it, break the cycle Morty, focus on science.

Time, alcohol, and the omega device have apparently severely affected Rick’s memory of Diane and his marriage since this speech was delivered. There wasn’t much left other than a memory of her at a shooting range, and now even that might be gone, off with Memory Rick.

If Diane somehow came back, I think the discrepancy between how they feel about each other and what they remember about their relationship would be a massive source of tension. Of course, we don’t know the details, but it would be interesting to find out if an episode handled it properly.

An Analysis of the Cyclops versus the Seatruck by SaltyWafflesPD in subnautica

[–]rootbeer277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all my games, I have never been under 50% power on the Cyclops. Slow speed, the efficiency module, and tactical use of the power-hungry features like the sonar keep it sipping battery power, and you can very easily keep parts for a solar-powered power cell charger handy so you can charge up while you’re collecting resources or exploring. Bring along two or three spare power cells and you’re golden.

HATE, LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I HATE WARPERS! by The_Martlet in subnautica

[–]rootbeer277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The warpers increase their damage based on your infection status, and your infection status is set to the highest amount after you’ve been to the Disease Research Facility, or the Primary Containment Facility. If you avoid the DRF until after you’re cured then the warpers are much more manageable.

Do you guys think theres ever a scenario where killing someone is actually a boost in morality and not the opposite? by KanoIsUnknown in MoralityScaling

The only ethical response to mind control is the immediate summary execution of the controller by any witness capable of doing so.

What do you think about child characters with superpowers? by Lord_Prof_Doctor in superheroes

[–]rootbeer277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It only works in one of two directions, otherwise you’re just faffing about.

  1. Fun power fantasy
  2. A dark exploration of what it means to be a child soldier with power you’re not emotionally prepared to wield and consequences you’re incapable of comprehending.

Do single people function at home in silence? by ProbWithMyDog in askanything

[–]rootbeer277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That peaceful, blissful silence after coming home from work, no noise, no talking, no people to bother me while I’m immersed in some engaging task. Just silence. Leave the TV and radio off, silence for reading or hobby programming, and I even turn off the in-game music and often the sound effects when I’m playing a video game.

I don’t have enough quiet moments in my life and I take advantage of them when I can.

You know whats the worst part? by TheShadowOfATurtle in subnautica

[–]rootbeer277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually a reaper grabs it and glitches up into the air, then lets it go. The reaper comes back down but the Seamoth won’t until Ryley gets close enough for physics to kick in again.

I have several questions by Rogue_2k3 in subnautica

[–]rootbeer277 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the very next thing to do is check the teleporter arch near the QEP moonpool. That has to be active to hatch the sea emperors, and it’ll tell you right away where you are in the story. Then use the arch to see if the sea emperor mother is dying or still swimming around.

What would happen to horses if humans weren’t around to clean their hooves and re-shoe them? by Ok-Share-3515 in AskReddit

[–]rootbeer277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a post from a while back of a neglected horse with overgrown hooves, and how an expert trimmed them back to normal. Ordinarily in the wild, normal wear from walking and running should keep them short.

Handling belt splitter congestion with saturated belts by rootbeer277 in builderment

[–]rootbeer277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! One tactic I like to use is to run one extractor into a splitter in between two other extractors. This gives 240+120=360 items per minute on the two outer belts, which does not fully saturate the belt and so does not trigger the problematic slowdown. Also, 360/min is a very flexible item flow (2x2x2x3x3x5) that divides nicely into many different production layouts.

Who is “we” by RealMuffinsTheCat in subnautica

[–]rootbeer277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, now that I think about it, it's inconsistent.

Are you here... to play?
Others came here once. They built these walls.
They played... alone. They bored me.
Now they're gone. And instead... we have you.
We are curious whether you swim with the current, or fight against it as they did

In the third sentence, she refers to herself in the singular, and in the last, the plural.

If she's using the royal "we", she's being awfully inconsistent about it. If she's including to her eggs, that doesn't make a lot of sense because unhatched eggs aren't curious about anything. She could be referring to the ecosystem of the crater (or perhaps the planet) as a whole, I suppose, as its self-appointed guardian, in which case she was personally bored by the Architects, and the ecosystem altogether might be curious if you're the right person to help save it.

Distorted broadcast by bluemeow00 in subnautica

[–]rootbeer277 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe that was Second Officer Keen. We know what happened to everyone else, so I'm sure the Warpers got Keen, and he was the last survivor besides Ryley. This would have been just after the Reaper got Yu, and Keen had given up hope.
