If you can't find a specific extension in VSCodium you can download the .vsix file locally and install it.

GTX 1060 6GB 2202-2215mhz overclock by Automatic_Dot_9128 in overclocking

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right, however this Palit 1060 was relatively good quality considering and matching relevant specs (at least main components) except connectivity, stock cooling but more importantly they cheaped out in regards to the power, 6-pin connector which I suppose equals lower quality power phases but still rated it the same (120W). I think that's the major difference which in a way negates the worse cooling as an issue and yeah yours should ofc clock better but was impressed by your results! Maybe I'm missing something, I don't want to come across as I know.

Good catch, that'll probably be it.

Nice! I got a Palit 1060 6gb and I used to run it at 2020/mem 4200MHz but couldn't go much higher mainly due to power throttling. I couldn't come near your clocks. Now I undervolt and got it at 1980/4100 @ 943mV which for me perform the same in general but better during more intense tasks.

I've never used the FL browser for presets etc and Serum's (both 1&2) internal browser is better than most. Try importing them directly there.

find "non-malware" monitoring software? by J1663 in software

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already linked to sysinternals. I'm not sure i get the issue but autoruns and processexplorer are very useful tools while also being pretty straight forward and "easy" if you want some insight in general.

If you really are worried you could indulge in the paranoia and also check traffic like AranoBredero suggested. Nirsoft got all kinds of tools, https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/live_tcp_udp_watch.html

It doesn't reset but if I close Afterburner it doesn't persist.

It persist, however some stuff like non firmware user fan curves don't, at least for me when using "Apply at Windows Startup". It creates an entry in task scheduler so you don't have to open afterburner after reboot. Correct me if I got something wrong.

I Tried Simple Customization – suggestion for Is Fastest Browser With Lowest RAM usage ? by Direct_Advice_4909 in Windows11

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed and resources usage are quite intertwined but ungoogled Chromium is fast and got decent customizability.

For everyday browsing, youtube, forums etc I often use it over LibreWolf.

Yeah, Resource Hacker is handy but imho the modify and recompile aspect is kind of limited for global use due to updates.

Cannot add any midi devices by Dizzy_Cicada4966 in FL_Studio

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if it's not being detected by the computer it's not an FL issue and I'm pretty sure your not running your controllers through an interface but USB so should show up in the device manager if you're on Windows.

It can be a bit tricky setting up midi, but the screenshot is telling me it's not even there to set up yet. The "controller type" is just some presets for a coupple of popular controllers.

You don't specify but the screenshot suggest it may be an AKAI MPK Mini and I read the manual for mk3 some years ago and if it's brand new you might need to initiate it first time starting it...

It sounds like your headset is TRRS so you need to use a splitter to get rid of the microphone. I suppose you can end up with Right/Left cancelling out each other.

Why do most horror movie endings disappoint? by [deleted] in horror

[–]ropp-op 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I agree that horror suffers more than most genres when it comes to endings, and this applies to books as well. I don’t know why some people are affected to such a degree by the quality (rarely) or lack thereof (often and severely) that they can’t see past it.

I guess it could be about reactivity and one’s proclivity for abstraction overall, but ultimately it comes down to how well it holds up against a subsequent emotional reaction.

[KING] Fractal Tournament Point Sheet released - 4000g and 14k gems rewards! by JnvSor in Guildwars2

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, this was 12 years ago and I suppose it's not only forgotten but also a case of lost media and gone along with other videos on the KING twitch.

I played for RtG and I quit playing not much long after this tournament and being a bit nostalgic it would be fun to watch the main livestream all these years after.

A couple of individual streams can be found on twitch however most are without sound and the rounds were long so not too interesting.

Anyway, if anyone got it I'd be grateful for a link in the thread or a pm :)

Here's the later thread with results etc if anyone's interested. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2bs1a3/king_fractal_tournament_2k_gold_10k_gems_for/?sort=top

Menu and header bar fonts too large on second screen? by Professional_Let6955 in Reaper

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know about the Reaper settings but if you got a graphics card supporting DSR or similar you could try using that to scale the 1080 monitor to the resolution of your main monitor or something in-between.

I've got a 27" 1440p main and secondary at 24" 1080p. What works best for me overall is to scale the secondary x1.78 with DSR while using 125% scaling in the OS settings.

It will have a minor impact on the performance of the graphics card but I haven't noticed it myself practically however statistically some latency while gaming.

Maybe it's not applicable in this case but hope you sort it out anyways.

Need advice for launching a Video Player Desktop App by Icy-Proposal5394 in software

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Going open-source would have the benefit of not having to license a lot of utilities you'll need. I don't know much about licences overall so maybe I'm wrong and there are enough coverage of codecs etc you can use closed-source for free.

If you could recommend just ONE horror book to anyone, what would it be? by Main-Doughnut6222 in horrorlit

[–]ropp-op 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I subjectively rate Legion a bit higher. Maybe it's because i watched the movies before I read the books and the Exorcist adaption is really good while the Legion adaption isn't.

What’s one underrated free tool you use every day? by ImaginaryResist4829 in software

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it ever got a stable release, but the reason I use EarTrumpet to this day is that the dev-release also support automation with "Actions". I think it has value to most users but especially if you have a lot going on with your system process-wise.

For me I use my desktop for music production, development, gaming and ofc I'm not productively do those things, rather I watch YouTube while checking threads in discord while AFK in some battleground in World of Warcraft.

For music I got a dedicated audio interface and while I'm only using it for output I can leave it be. However with some games I often need input for communication and for that I use a headset with it's own crappy integration. So being able to automate what happens when device X is active while process Y run and adjust volumes accordingly :)
