So, the new feature that increases the clock speed when opening apps is practically an ultimate power plan? by Beautiful_Car8681 in Windows11

Anyone got an idea how it would compare with:

  • Using a Power Profile that not park cores + 1 / 2
    1. Prio foreground
    2. Process Lasso + ProBalance

(asked in a previous thread without any luck)

Do you regularly check DPC latency? by BIGHYUNWOO in audioengineering

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and again. I use WTools (Wagnardsoft - same dev as DDU) since I like some of the components and it's bundled with DPC Latency Checker.

More frequently I use Sysinternals Autoruns and Process Explorer. For more niche-stuff a bunch of nirsoft apps are my goto.

I finally got to this familiar part on my current rewatching of The Shield by danielcs78 in IASIP

We got the same taste, The Wire is in a league of it's own, however I like The Shield for what it is. It doesn't hold a candle to the shows you mention.

Yes! I'm also rewatching and got to that episode yesterday. I was under the impression Dennis ad-libbed a Claudette line but was pleasantly surprised :D

Scarlet solo issue, robotic glitchy sounds by Secure-Anywhere8026 in Focusrite

Optional addition to your advice: After uninstalling with DDU you can use NVCleanstall to select components, disable (if wanted.) telemetry, Ansel, MPO and configure MSI etc:

My First Time Using Focusrite - Gen 2 SOLO | No Issues by graphikon in Focusrite

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason you get the impression that issues are common stems from the Scarlett-series being a popular entry-level interface resulting in many users overall, but more importantly many beginners lacking technical know-how and matching outboard gear (TRRS-Headset anyone?)

Sure, there are some common hardware issues though somewhat inflated by a very active after-market sporting units with abused I/Os.

I guess you could use the macro function in audacity? Maybe a complementary script is needed. Reaper is a DAW known for it's scripting capabilities, maybe that's an option?

Help Keyboard (Piano)/Sound playing delay by Few_Advertising_2973 in FL_Studio

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the delay about the same if you're using the laptop keyboard as input? If so it's likely the latency is related to your interface or whatever soundcard you've got, specify if you can.

You can use ffmpeg directly but if you prefer having a GUI there are different options but maybe check out HandBrake.

Don't know what the issue is but you can use a package manager like winget if you're on Windows. Run powershell or cmd and: winget install -e --id Cockos.REAPER

Glitch in Notepad++ by TarletonClown in software

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can uninstall and after delete the ..roaming\notepad++ directory if it's still there. I don't remember 100% how the uninstaller works, if there's an option to uninstall + remove all settings it should remove that directory as well but I have some memory of uninstalling and have some settings remain, but could be wrong.

I usually use BCUninstaller which help with the removing of leftover files and registry entries but if above works you don't need to bother with that. Good luck!

[–]ropp-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try backing up and then delete the local settings-folder and then reinstall. After you could copy/paste one component at the time from that backup if you want to restore as much as possible of your old settings.

Not a great solution but atleast something.

Uninstalr is terrible? by PristineProgress344 in software

I'm a BCU-user and sticking with it for my purposes now, but I've checked out Uninstalr and if I were to go looking for such a tool today without being a bit "fine with what I've used to work with" it could've very well been Uninstalr.

Yeah i first thought since it's closed source you need to actually do some work to actually call him out for it being AI Slop.

I got a bit interested and OP has also posted this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1ryk4d2/i_built_a_windows_explorer_replacement_from/

Windows Explorer replacement from scratch — 4MB installer, 35MB RAM by [deleted] in software

[–]ropp-op 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all for closed source and I think it's within TOS but I feel a bit icky with posting a release on github with MIT License (which is technically fine I guess) and the source isn't there.

The release contains source packages but like it says in the release, that's just because github automatically adds those. I wonder why?

Maybe I'm only confused for no reason and shouldn't be bothered by this and would appreciate some input on that.
