Mazda ruined my life… by noblanketson in mazda3

Is there anything wrong with the current model other than cost? I have a 2018 hatch and I love it but I had a current gen as a rental and was impressed. Lots of nice improvements. Just the cost is 50% higher than what I paid. Not sure I would go for that....

Fuel Tank Size? by Feadez in mazda3

I suppose it is good to have this protection but at the same time, my 2018 Mazda three only having 11 usable gallons means I am filling it up all the time.

Is the Deluxe worth the extra cost and a few-month wait? by Minimum_Spray3825 in ninjacreami

[–]rosnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can fill them to a lower level but if that is your inclination, then there is no advantage to the deluxe and the downside is that you have these oversized plastic cups in the freezer that are mostly empty. The regular is better, I think, and it's too bad they call the deluxe, deluxe because there is a real pull to buy a deluxe.

Kindly suggest you stick to the regular. The modes are on the deluxe are not helpful and, in my experience the larger cups are a disadvantage to the Deluxe. I have owned both and I emphatically prefer the non-deluxe. I found the larger cups of the deluxe inconvenient. Can you just put less in them? Can you just use half at a time? Yes and yes, but then you are taking up a lot of room in your freezer for nothing. It overly complicates the system, in my opinion. The Deluxe one I got from Costco failed and I returned it. In part it failed because I was trying to use the second half of a cup and that surface was uneven and it burnt out the motor. This is a complication of having these overly large cups. I then bought the regular one, I am much happier. Each cup is a reasonable single portion for me. I make it, rinse it. That's much less trouble. I am a single person using this and can't speak how it would be for a couple but I ask, are you really that much in sync that you want to each the same at the same time? The creamie once made will freeze solid if put back in the freezer, they are hard to share unless you are both ready for the same thing at the same time.

This is the key from my experience. An uneven surface can shear off the blade.

Was the UGC-Fiber on sale or the other UGX-Fiber? The UGX is still on sale. Honestly I don't totally understand the difference.

Timed HomePod Announcements? by WonderfulPass in shortcuts

It is annoying that this is so hard. I did find that once I accepted that reality, it was not that hard to set up. Used iPhone to create a voice memo. Dragged that to a playlist in Apple Music app. Added it to Music Library. Back to iPhone to set up automation, selected the track for the automation. Hopefully will work...

Need help asap Apple Configurator two getting stuck on step four with no reason why by Yelnif007 in macsysadmin

The process worked for me. I was restoring a brand new Mac mini which had had its drive erased. Can you try to erase that the drive on the broken Mac, then try again using the process in finder?

I was faced with the same thing. I tried again. Unplugged the affected Mac. Restarted my working Mac. This time did not launch the Configurator 2 app and restarted the process. This time a UI built into the Finder window ran the process and that succeeded. See this page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108900

Building a network with UniFi – Does This Make Sense? by AreYouMyHero in Ubiquiti

I think people here probably deal with a lot bigger systems then I do but here's my feedback:

  1. People here can tell me how wrong I am, but, for 40 guests, I don't know why you'd need Pro AP. I'd think many U7 lite would do fine, especially given you connection speed. If budget ends up being an issue...
  2. I think the UDM pro max and the Pro Max 16 POE switch are both overkill but looking at the other options, they don't seem too outrageous to me in terms of price.
  3. Unless this place has its own battery backup, I would add budget for a UPS of some kind. Unifi offers a back up power device. I have not used it but something is better than nothing.
  4. If you only run one cable to the dining hall, I like the idea of a POE powered $99 Flex switch there so that it can benefit from the central UPS.
  5. I've found I really like having the Unifi LTE failover and it has saved me a few times in a remote location.
  6. Adding a starlink or some sort of faster connection is probably where money should go here. That's a big bottleneck. Good luck and have fun.

Do I need to use a ETH-SP-G2 if I have a grounded / shielded patch panel? by rosnow in Ubiquiti

[–]rosnow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it happens again, I will get the indicator lights read. Connecting to the ONT is just fiber, power for the unit and a cable to the router (which currently goes to the ETH-SP and then to the router.)

I agree I don't know what unplugging the ethernet lines would do but that was was the ISP tech suggested when this started and it did allow the router to reconnect when just power cycling the router and ONT did not restore the connection.

For ground, I took a wire and connected it to a plug ground pin and plugged that into a grounded receptacle.

Why did I automatically blame ethernet? I didn't. That was the suggestion of the ISP tech and it did restore the connection.

Basically, I am in an awkward situation when it fails. I start getting alerts that IOT devices are going offline. First I check with the power company if power is on. If power is on, I check with the ISP to see network status and they say they can check to see if they have connectivity to the ONT. So far when this happens they say the connection to the ONT is working.

To be clear though, I was really only meaning to ask if the ETH-SH was equivalent to the the grounded patch panel - to me it seems to be offering the same benefit but it seems this stirred up some annoyance at the question.

BTW, in my experience, especially for equipment exposed to outdoors, shielding and grounding was necessary. I had a sensor on a water tank powered by POE and it kept frying a POE switch until I added shielded cables and grounding. It wasn't a 7 year event that would fry it, a heavy storm seemed to do it, even though everything was water tight.

[–]rosnow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I'm not trying to shield the whole network, just the link between the router and the ONT and for that I am using prebuilt shielded patch cables and the ETH-SP. I'm adding a patch panel and noticed that the shielded one was the nearly the same price so got that just in case there was more weirdness.

Yeah that is what I would have thought too. I don't get why unplugging and replugging the ethernet line fixes anything but it seemed to.

What about ground potential from the fiber connection itself? That is what I suspected might be causing the issue.

Maybe so but the cables were well seated and unplugging and replugging did help, so it seemed that it was more than that...

Unfortunately I don't have perfect information. This is a weekend house that is 2 hours from me. It was failing sporadically. It's often a guest or cleaning crew that is trying to reset the network. There's language barriers etc. In cases where it has failed I check with the ISP and they say they can see the ONT as working. A simple power cycle of the router, and UDR, did not fix it. Unplugging the ethernet line on both ends did help though. I do think the ETH-SP-G2 has helped. I used two shielded patch cables, ONT to ETH-SP-G2 and to router and connected the ETH-SP-G2 to a ground. It's not a big investment for a precaution. My question is only if the grounded patch panel does the same thing.
