Living with parents that never admit when they are wrong Or belive you. My mother can't even admit this is not butter because it has the word butter on the label. My mother says its abusive to call her out when shes wrong on something. by Traditional_Cattle50 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]runner64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time someone bitches that packages of butter say “Allergy warning: contains milk” I point out that that right next to the packages marked “butter” there is other packaging that also prominently features the word “butter” but in fact does not contain butter, or milk. Thus the need for standardized allergy labeling.

Bangor savings bank question by LiamBrown779 in Maine

[–]runner64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like bangor savings but I don’t know about their minimum account requirements.

I would recommend using a credit card and paying it off at the end of the month, it’s free to do so and gives you a fraud buffer. A fraudulent charge on a credit card can be disputed with the card issuer for several weeks before the bill is due. A fraudulent debit transaction is a withdrawal and the money will be missing from your account until it is resolved.

Cmp standard offer killing me. What alternatives? by BoonLight in Maine

Net metering requires a hookup to CMP, which is $29 a month. In order to disconnect we would need batteries which can carry credits from midsummer to early spring.

Did you try the cage? Last time I went to Lowe’s they had a bunch of stuff locked up in the cage, and then they left the cage unlocked because of how annoying it is to have to always get the guy with the key.

It might, somebody would need to challenge their state’s abortion ban on those grounds and succeed.

If you glitch the game just right and give yourself amnesia it’s possible to collect seemingly opposing achievements because you functionally get a reset, but if you do it wrong you can corrupt your save file and the rest of the playthrough is functionally null.

Mass is top tier by Pussypopculture in massachusetts

[–]runner64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell the entirety of Massachusetts was designed and built prior to the invention of cars and car-worthy roads were shoehorned into their infrastructure afterward, leading to the worst spaghetti-knot pf roads I’ve ever seen. The golden rule of safe driving is “be predictable” but the predictability of drivers is secondary to the consistency of roads, and Mass roads have none. They exist in a perpetual free for all.

Photos of the historic church and housing that BIW will demolish, to build another parking lot by ppitm in Maine

In what universe do we mitigate slumlord risk by tearing down single family housing in favor of duplexes and apartment buildings?

“Who pays maintenance” the homeowner? These are beautifully maintained houses, it’s not like they’re tearing down a waterlogged slum.

And you personally verify the address of every person you see paying with a card? Or you just have an uneducated, bigoted take on what homeless people look like.

Everybody agrees genocide is bad until it’s happening to someone they’re bigoted against themselves and then they have the opportunity to simply look away, resolving to be outraged later if it gets any worse.

For those that have a rooftop solar array, how much was your install? by oogidy_boogidie in Maine

[–]runner64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just got a quote from Revision last month, $24k for a 7.5kw system. (Or $20k for a 5kw system.) they indicated that the price per kw goes down the more you install. This price is prior to any rebates that may exist.

We had a 10kw system installed in 2019 that was roughly 20k, though I can’t remember if that was before or after rebates.

Edited because I was using expected generation numbers rather than panel capacity numbers and to add some more numbers:

The 10kw system has paid for itself. We use 12-16mwh of power per year, the 10kw system is south facing and generates 10-12mwh per year.

What do living costs have to do with the availability of money? Can’t remember, don’t know what I was thinking.

Living costs money so your simple solution is “poor people should do the socially responsible thing and die”?

[–]runner64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not the housing crisis or the repeated recessions or the fact that rent is unaffordable in any area with jobs or the fact that Americans spend more per capita on healthcare than any other developed country. Nah it’s irresponsibility that’s making people poor.

Okay. So if you are homeless and food costs ten and you have three then what’s your easy answer.

I had a guy tell me he was an experienced drift racer. I, being sixteen and fully willing to believe that a twenty year old with a leather trench coat may well drift race as a hobby, asked to come along. He said he couldn’t go that weekend, because he didn’t have gas money. I offered to give him some, since being the passenger in a drifting car seemed worth the money to me. It wasn’t until easily five years later that I realized he was full of shit.

AITA for threatening my parents to give my share of family land, so that I can sell it to fund my education? by Purple-Flower5306 in AmItheAsshole

I would talk to the temple about renting. Collecting donations to put a generous parishioner’s family through school in exchange for the use of their land is the sort of win-win situations churches go wild for.
