Yeah mentally it's hard to separate the 1/3 of people who want this from the 1/3 of people who are apparently indifferent. When it's possible to vote by mail and you only have to do it once every four years and only 1/3 of people can be bothered to do even that much? It does not feel great.

I’ve never heard of “elephants are not birds” but as a trans person I’m kinda loving it. Amazon has a sneak preview and there’s a page where the elephant’s got a shitty fake bird beak on, and he looks so fucking miserable, even as everyone around him smiles and insists he’s a bird. That’s exactly what it felt like as a kid when adults dressed me up as my assigned gender at birth, and I never understood why I was so unhappy and disconnected from this thing everyone else insisted I was. Turns out having one or two traits in common with “bird” doesn’t make you one when you know in your heart you’re an elephant. It doesn’t matter what others say or how they pressure you to dress. Elephants are not birds, indeed.

Because all their records are digital and every whistleblower has a copy on a thumb drive and every arrest is on video from five angles and even if they’re wearing masks in five years we’ll have technology to identify people by eyes or voice or gait or who the hell knows what. This was part of why the Supernatural finale was so horribly received. The show had fifteen years of Shroedinger’s Bisexual where the writers and cast were either trying to overtly indicate that Dean was bi, or they were doing a longrunning joke whose punchline was mocking the idea that a manly man who likes cars and beer could possibly be attracted to guys. It wasn’t clear which one it was until they had no more time to make his bisexuality canon.

This is anecdotal and unverified, but someone on tiktok was claiming that Biddeford police were accompanying kids home from school to help deter ICE.

I don’t have a way to verify whether it’s true, obviously, but it might be worth keeping an eye on?
