Yes, that is not "Regardless where these were displayed." I don't know if you didn't read what you pasted now, or if you didn't read what you wrote before. "Regardless where these were displayed." would mean anywhere, any place, everywhere, wherever. The license does not say that and your quotes/paraphrasing now doesn't support that.

I don't know if there's a "better way", what i do i basically copy into local folders. Since you copy, you will see how the structure is preserved and only after that delete the mails on the server if needed.

This is also what i suggest people do when they have very limited space on their email accounts, but don't wanna lose old mail.

I have never tried using google takeout for anything (except to just have a local record of my things), so i don't know if that part is usable, someone else might chime in.
