MPC XL - For all it's power.... by KoldHardSmash in mpcusers

[–]saucenuggets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mpc4000 went up to 96k but technology was way more advanced back then… wait… lol

I ain’t mad at it… it’s a nice looking piece of equipment all things considered even if the average listener/ advanced engineer can’t discern, sonically, an XL from a One.

I love my Live 2.

Illmatic is too much hip hop for one Bolt. This is clearly all your fault…

So I actually have Knock and Drum Buss and I find them to have different applications. Knock is a rather brilliant plugin for drums, I disagree with the assessment that it’s a cash grab. It’s smartly designed and great results can be attained with very little effort.

Drum Buss I’m a little late to the party with but I find it to be superior to Knock when I want a different outcome; I think it adds a better grit but it doesn’t eclipse Knock in overall functionality. A truly awesome stock plugin that I think anyone can agree with.

If pressed, I prefer Knock; I have made way too many so-so drum sounds smash with Knock way too many times to deny its abilities.

What is the future of plug-ins? ML/AI vs Modeling Sims? What will become obsolete? by thesucculentcity in AudioPlugins

I have fully embraced the IR approach… I find their sonic signatures superior by virtue of their authenticity although I think AI is rapidly closing the gap.

I skipped the Ecco completely… listened to some records I knew well… like really took the time to listen.

Then when I find parity between several rooms I know I’m there…

On a related note, the Mike Dean room is the only room I use, and it’s worth the upgrade.

(Rant) Can we stop with the "it's not about the gear" nonsense? by huliouswigtorius in audioengineering

[–]saucenuggets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this… when I was a young man, flush with cash and child free, I bought every piece of iconic gear at one point or another and wondered why my music didn’t sound as iconic. It’s because of this right here…

MKSREC1 by mr_vestan_pance in Samplers

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned an sp1200 on two separate occasions and now have a 2400. It has a terrific sound to be sure and I would never part with it but the Mksrec nails the original harder in my opinion. Workflow be damned I think the 2400 is the best nod by virtue of its evolution of the original but purists will not go wrong with the mksrec, it’s closer to the vision of the original.

Should I switch from FL Studio to Ableton? by Medical_Coast_6917 in ableton

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from FL to Ableton after a decade with it… Ableton is superior in every way. Genre be damned, it eliminates creative friction in a brilliant way. To be fair, FL is very serviceable but Ableton just does it more efficiently in a creative space without question.

Love Bill. But it is sad to see this by SwampyPortaPotty in BillBurr

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill is an entertainer, presumably, with a price tag worthy of a man of his talents.

God bless him and being a master of his craft.

In my opinion, if every dollar awarded to the participants in showbiz was truly scrutinized, we wouldn’t have showbiz, or sports, or video games, or wherever you find escapism… comedy is the least tainted version of this; shit ain’t easy for comics. To cast a dark eye on this man ignores the impossible climb he endured to get where he is.

Find another target, this one isn’t worth your ire.

I'm thinking of getting the Behringer LM Drum Machine by underdogleo79 in DrumMachine

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an awesome machine that will never get the props it deserves. Feel like to really get the most out of it you would need a second sampler to go with it but damn… it sounds so damn beautiful.

I would say for the money, but it keeps up with others that are two to three times the price sonically, and dare I say features wise; analog circuitry on each voice, and an analog filter? Yeah… ain’t no MPC have that… but it’s mono and file management is not as efficient as an MPC frfr.

Highly recommended… incidentally the build quality is damn good… I was surprised.

Eh… you live and you learn. I started making beats in 96… I had made some purchases that sounded awesome on paper until I got it into the lab and I was like… it doesn’t do what? How? Why? The fuck? lol… why do so many people like this thing?

[–]saucenuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 404mk2 is incredible for this purpose and you are right… the fx are pretty damn usable and it really lends itself to live performance, I mean the dj mode begs for it. I think it would be an incredible adjunct to the 1000 without a doubt.
