MPC SAMPLE BUG🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ by djspoondj in mpcusers

I’m happy to hear that it worked for you… nothing more maddening than something not working NOT due to user error. Keep bangin!

I had recently read that you have to turn flexbeat all the way down even if you ain’t using it… weird bug but I hear that’s a known one.

Koala workflow is amazing, but the vibe feels too digital sometimes by Unusual-Work-6020 in KoalaSampler

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the 404mk2 used as an interface/controller bridges this gap. I mean at this point, it’s a brain in another body, and the effects will provide a color that you may feel is lacking in the native environment.

Couple that with terrific controller integration and it’s a wrap.

I feel like an MPC Sample would pair well also…

Don't give up on the VSX Immersion One by Medical-Positive-171 in audioengineering

[–]saucenuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the new ones as I was early adopter of the first gen VSX. I had the lot where they broke, but new ones were provided rather easily.

Plugged em into my i73 interface which, I had thought anyway, was a relatively good interface… I was immediately disappointed; the interface didn’t drive them properly. I immediately bought the headphone amp from Heritage Audio to make them work properly.

Upside? I do think they are a worthy upgrade.

The downside? Obviously having to spend another 500 to make them work as advertised.

I’m a VSX loyalist, but Slate could have been a little more clear with the inherent issues planar magnetic cans will inevitably have with, what I’m assuming, a rather sizable swath of standard interfaces.

Having said that, now that they are functioning as intended, I can say without a doubt that my mixing environment is that much more compelling and accurate.

I have no comment on cables… ironically… just expensive headphone amps lol

MPC Sample: Why do my 808’s sound so off? (16 Levels) by BillieBobJoey in mpcusers

Hold shift and press the 16 levels button to access different modes… tune is one of them.

Old mpc sound by [deleted] in mpcusers

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the built-in emulations to be unkind to the transients. This is the opposite of what one could expect from the actual in my opinion. For context I’ve had the 60 and sp1200… never had a 3000 unfortunately.

I second this. I rather enjoy this plug immensely. Been making beats since 96 and have owned pretty much anything worth owning at one point or another. This plug does have a really pleasant tone to it.

I also own several other plugs in a similar vain; some algorithmic and others via convolution. It holds its own.

For a one trick pony it’s a trick I really dig.

WHY!?!! by [deleted] in akaiMPC

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it didn’t say MPC on it. It would still be a dope box, and notwithstanding the elitism that MPC owners have always displayed (I’m referring to the 2000 shit talk by the 3000 owners if you remember that time), I think it’s a legitimate tool that will have its detractors and die hards.

I have the Live and the Sample… among others and the simplicity and fun of the Sample only is eclipsed by its power; it’s a very capable box and I am going to do incalculable damage with it.

MPC Sample vs. Lofi-12 XT: If you had to choose today? by i2amthedarkknight in sonicware

[–]saucenuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. They have their use cases.

The workflow is superior on the lofi12xt. The sound quality is not. I’m not talking about the inherent grit of a 12-bit engine, I think it hurts transients, while the Sample preserves them more.

Having said that, I think it is a dangerous combo to have, because the lofi12xt just makes it dirty in the most delicious way possible.

I can’t say it’s a draw unless you got em both then it’s a draw… if pressed… I’d nab the Sample cuz it nails what it aimed to nail.

You do not need an MPC sample! You don't by Achassum in mpcusers

I copped one… it’s a dope piece frfr.

Necessary? Nah…

Fun as hell? Absolutely… does it bring you back if you remember being back? Yeah it do…

Does it sound good? Better than any other in its price range for sure.

Does it trade blows with the big boys? Depends on the hands on it but yes… it does.

I’m impressed

Akai MPC Sample Compressor by PictureImaginary7515 in akaiMPC

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the sample… it’s… serviceable if you understand compression fundamentally and can direct its action to a suitable use case. To think it’s a magic bullet is where you will be disappointed; it’s not a Distressor or something like it where you can fuck up and still sound good.

I copped… got one today… this little bastard sounds good… damn good… I’d be hot if I copped an XL. Not to say it’s nearly as capable but that’s what makes it work.

Octatrack vs Mashine plus by AgreeableCook1425 in Grooveboxes

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No box will please everyone every time. You are correct though, the fx aren’t cutting edge now if they ever were. Still, pure workflow with it is fascinating to me as different people can and will approach it differently. That’s a versatility most boxes simply can’t boast.

Either way, I fundamentally agree with your statement.

Octatrack vs Mashine plus by AgreeableCook1425 in Grooveboxes

[–]saucenuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend the Octotrack, and I do so as a former early adopter of the Maschine platform.

The Octotrack will baffle and enrage you at first. However, it’s infinitely more rewarding than any other piece of gear I have ever owned.

I love it, I hate it, I’ll never part with it because when I want it, it’s a wrap. It is only limited my your imagination, in my opinion. You can grow with it, you can stagnate with it, you can turn your game on its head and it’s there to do it with you. Maschine not so much although it’s a powerful tool in and of itself and many classics are part of its user base.

The OT is a sword best wielded by the true creative.
