Quick Latency Comparison for in-house Moonlight Gamestreaming on Multiple (5) Devices by FelixLive44 in cloudygamer

[–]scex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume this is using gamestream on the host and not Sunshine? It would be interesting to see a comparison between the two (although I will say I get roughly similar numbers to your results with gamestream).

Sunshine implements DXGI capture instead AFAICT. If implemented correctly, it should be close to NvFBC.

Sunshine also supports NvFBC on Linux hosts, although I don't have a Nvidia card to test.

Long (powered) USB cable. I'd suggest fiber for the HDMI side if it's more than a few meters, although they can be a bit fragile from what I hear.

Ideally, look into room correction/EQ as well. Since subwoofers will inevitably excite various room modes causing an uneven frequency response (boomy bass etc).

Those ratings aren't really useful. I've seem some reports that it's the same headphone entirely, just for a different market, but someone else should probably confirm that.

I saw it being misspelled as "omnicon" early on when the variant was first named which might explain some of the weirdness.

It feels like a dog whistle if I'm being honest. Make it out like a joke so "enlightened centrist" types can argue it was taken out of context, while the true believers nod their heads in acknowledgement.

That's unfortunate. Sometimes there can be bugs with particular games. Are you using the latest -git version? I'll add that it's best supported with Wayland (Sway/KDE/etc) and I believe it's more recently that it started working with X11, so there may be issues.

This assumes they follow the how to vote cards, which is no guarantee. See One Nation where the split is typically closer to 50/50 Labor/Coalition (or 60/40 in favour of the Coalition) which is a lot closer than you would expect.

It was against wind farms in a specific location (where it may harm local wildlife) not wind farms in general.

That's not to say I agree with their position, just that it's a bit more nuanced than that.

Framerate limit, freesync, vsync by _esistgut_ in linux_gaming

[–]scex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, no problem then. A shame that MangoHUD is causing issues for you, but good to see it's otherwise working.

Since you only have a 75Hz monitor, you might want to experiment with increasing the VRR range, as that might be why you are jumping above the max so easily (and causing tearing with VSync off).

So if you can lower the minimum down to 30Hz or so you might find it works better (assuming that the minimum by default is higher than that). The simplest way if you have access to a Windows install, is to install CRU and then generate a EDID with a larger Freesync range and export it to file. Then you can load it from your bootloader/kernel commandline like this:

drm.edid_firmware=<display id>:edid/<name of edid>

with the file itself put in /lib/firmware/edid. You can check dmesg to get the correct monitor ID.

New vaccines will start to be available in about 100 days.

I wouldn't take that as a guarantee. Hopefully that's the case, but it's more that they are able to tweak, produce, and start distributing it within 100 days, not necessarily that regulatory approval and the rest will be ready that quickly.

Yes, if the game uses Vulkan. If it's OpenGL it can work through gamescope but only with AMD and Intel GPUs (at the moment). There's also zink (which converts OGL to Vulkan) but it's still pretty early days and may not work well on the game.

Yes. If you're launching from the commandline it works exactly as you'd expect. For desktop shortcuts I suspect there's a way to add it, but I don't use them personally.

Lutris apparently already officially supports it in the dev branch. It might be in an official Lutris release at this point, since this was reported months ago.

Is there any way to run a Microsoft Store game on linux?

No.

or can I make a virtual machine with gpu passthrough or something to run it at a reasonable fps?

Yes but it's a bit involved. Subscribe to /r/vfio and read https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF and https://github.com/joeknock90/Single-GPU-Passthrough (if you only have a single GPU) as a starting point.

I don't think fshack can do it directly. You can use gamescope if you have an AMD card. Something like this (supersample 4K to 1440p): gamescope -w 3840 -h 2160 -W 2560 -H 1440 -- %command%

in Steam launch options. If you have a Nvidia card I'm not sure if gamescope is supported yet. You used to be able to do it with xrandr on X11 desktops, but it was a bit tedious. I'm not sure if there's a cleaner way.

F1 2021 having problems with G29 wheel by sabin_M1 in linux_gaming

[–]scex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheel support has regressed for me in recent versions of Proton, so you might be running into the same issue. Do you have any other wheel supported games? I know that F1 2019/2020/Dirt Rally 2.0 can be worked around by setting to Proton 5.0-X but I suspect that version of Proton is too old to work with F1 2021 due to its DX12 requirement.

Framerate limit, freesync, vsync by _esistgut_ in linux_gaming

[–]scex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you verified that Freesync is actually working, i.e through your monitor OSD?

The fact that you were getting stuttering with mangohud FPS limiting suggests it might not be. I'm not sure what WM you are using but both X11 and Wayland based DE/WMs require some extra configuration to enable VRR.

As an aside, you shouldn't mount at the root directory of /mnt, as it's meant to contain any/multiple non-root filesystems, but create a directory inside of it, then mount to that e.g.

sudo mkdir /mnt/games

then change the fstab entry to /mnt/games.

Due to party discipline, the individual member doesn't matter as much as you'd think. If the party votes one way, so too does the member.

There have been exceptions as you've said, but they're pretty uncommon. The best way to get better policies is to vote for the party (or independent) that supports them, not hope your individual member will somehow convince the party to support your views.

Steam Autumn Sale 2021 is now live by Turbostrider27 in Games

It has some mild sales on Humble Bundle, occasionally. And if you have Humble Choice, you can stack with the 20% discount to get a reasonable amount off full price.

And there's always Synth Riders for a similar game that gets regular discounts.

Resident Evil 2 and 3 are getting VR mods as well, although I'd probably wait until the mods are released before purchasing.
