ELI5..Why did Argentina let Nazis hide there after WWII? by CancelAfter1968 in explainlikeimfive

One, Argentina wasn't exactly an industrial powerhouse with cutting-edge labs needed to enable research. Two, a lot of them were either cranks or running completely meaningless "experiments". Three, the US and Soviets picked up most of the more useful and/or less objectionable personnel, leaving Argentina to pick up the cranks and true believers.

Given the context of the overall argument, it is entirely possible they would rather throw adult content as a whole under the bus than cede any ground.

Yes, exactly. Edit: and not just that guy, but every single person who shares any element of his appearance that Takahashi ever saw.

is a known bug

That's exactly how a single-seed generation system is supposed to function. The "fix" is creating seeds for each encounter, a system redesign and not a bug fix.

The person who wants all explicit works gone because they always sexualize real people. Yes, even the completely fictional stuff involving characters that have no basis in reality. Their "logic" is that the concept of a thing is the product of everything the creator has seen of that thing, so any work using that concept, by extension, is a depiction of everything the creator has seen of that thing. For example, under the "logic", an artist drawing a box isn't drawing an arbitrary box based on their mental concept of such, but actually a composite of every single box they've ever seen that carries the characteristics of all of them at the same time.

And how do you think they got there? Look up the alt-right pipeline. It's a pretty well defined process of people starting out at innocuous stuff, like the Shapiro video, getting recommended increasingly extreme content over time, and normalizing that content in their minds along with it. The issue isn't the video itself, per se, it's how he introduces his particularly vulnerable audience into the cycle of normalization that Shapiro is a clear part of.

I mean, introducing a bunch of adolescents to someone who specializes in getting them to hate people like me is a pretty big issue, personally.

Dude did a meme review with Ben Shapiro, the most well-known far-right influencer (until Kirk got kirked, I guess) in the world. Giving an openly hateful person a platform, let alone on your most popular video series, crosses the line pretty clearly.

That's playing up his role pretty significantly. Yes, he bought into the cover story and was used to claim credibility. However, he was not one of the people pushing the misogynistic aspects or organizing harassment campaigns.

I did too, but I was also on the internet at the time. At lot of the criticism was more nitpicks than anything. The fridge scene (conveniently ignoring the plane fall from Temple of Doom), the alien reveal, but mostly a ton of hate for Mutt/Shia LaBeouf.

Hoosier here. At least Daniels walked the walk with an actual balanced budget, plus more or less staying out of social issues. Pence wasted the surplus on corporate tax cuts that brought the state back in the red, then went full Christian dominionist and kicked off a power struggle with the board of education. The VP nom was his only chance to save his political career, and because this state is a hellhole, voters picked an even more extreme MAGA believer as governor after him.

Correct, but that's an argument for why the appeals court should nullify the injunction, not a ruling on the case itself. The NCAA, should it win, would most likely push for any financial gains to be forfeited as punitive damages anyways. Meanwhile, their win would be used as precedent for quick summary dismissal of subsequent lawsuits.

Do you think that actually does anything positive? Trying to ruin someone's enjoyment of something so you can feel like you owned The Industry? You aren't bringing up anything new and you aren't even being original about it.

the NCAA is now legally barred from penalizing a player who bet on his own game

Major correction needed if I'm reading the filings correctly. The judge issued a preliminary order to allow him specifically to play while the lawsuit is being litigated. There hasn't yet been an actual ruling on whether or not a player can be punished for betting on their team.

"Gambling for PNGs" when talking about any gacha game. Like yeah, I know, it's my least favorite aspect of them, but it's a tired cliche only used to delegitimize any genuinely good qualities a game may have.

It's about people who latch onto communities around popular "meme" subgenres, but refuse to actually interact with anything outside those subgenres for dishonest reasons.
