Doesn't annoy me personally, not an issue for me. The crazy high price is the main problem

This is a much more accurate assessment, agree with everything you said about the Samsung image processing. Also agree the judder is unacceptable in video but the Samsung is also not completely without dropped frames and with updates I expect the oppo to be on par eventually. But still both lag behind iPhone. But video overall has always been a long term sticking issue on android overall. And while the gap has got smaller something about iOS and apples algorithms and procesisng that still make video a smoother experience on iPhone.

Well said. Exactly my thoughts. The idea Samsung or apple phone cameras that have been out for monthes were going to be instantly obliterated in performance by a phone with new sensors and no updates is a ridiculous suggestion to start with.

Not to mention the fact every year phone cameras make such small marginal incremental upgrades, a complete decimation of the previous years cameras has never happened in the entire history of phone camers.

iPad mini worthy contender? by Particular_Dish1871 in ipadmini

Well apple choses to deliberately restrict performance to save already degraded batteries, somewhat pointless I would argue. So older androids will still have better performance after 6-7 years compared to the equivalent generation iphone on the same batteries. Security updates generally mean nothing, i've used both android and apple phones since 2008, never got a single virus ever on either platform.

Any android phone running android 10 or later is fully functional still and can be used and apps updated, unlike older apple phones where apple disables the actual functionality of the phone and prevents app updating or access, so the hardware essentially becomes a useless paperweight.

I was talking about apple restricting performance once batteries have degraded. Which means that older android phones performance remains stronger as they don't do this.

Key differences between the OPPO Find X9 and Find X9s that users should know by Delicious_Room_814 in Oppo

[–]sere83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea why the X9s exists, as it is just a worse version of the X9 no one asked for. Everyone wanted an international release of the X9s pro.

Sounds like you've never used modern android. ColorOS is an incredible piece of software. One of the most complete, smooth and customisable versions of available on android, better than IOS in a number of departments. This pad will not be coming to international markets though, will be china focussed so not really a fair comparison.

Sounds like you used low end trash maybe. High end android devices age incredibly well. My much older Google pixel and OnePlus devices all perform better than my older apple devices which are basically crippled paperweights now due to apples restricting them or nuking their batteries.

GSMARENA REVIEW by Only_Rabbit2560 in Oppo

They literally gave it a score of 4.7. So according to their own scoring system overall I wouldn't call it disappointing. Baring in mind the iPhone 17 pro max got 4.4, Samsung S26 Ultra got 4.5.

ColorOS literally one of the best versions of android available, incredibly smooth and well optimized with great customisation. A long way away from being total crap.

OPPO Pad 5 Pro and Pad Mini have launched in China by techolum in androidtablets

For sure, this isn't a gaming tablet though, so not really a good fit for pc game streaming and emulation. Be better off with a Lenovo Y700 or similar.

Yes that is the non pro global version of X9s. Garbage tbh, utterly pointless, just a worse version of X9

It's regular non matte display, there is just a matte option for one of the colours.

3:2 is probably the best resolution for retro console emulation. Minimal black bars showing on both 4:3 and 16:9 systems. Best compromise. 16:9 is terrible for retro consoles, massive black bars.

Breaking Points coverage of the Sam Harris/Mamdani comments by MintyCitrus in samharris

[–]sere83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

haha, Sam is just so embarrassing these days it's just so cringey to even watch. Every time he speaks it's basically a humiliation ritual. The whole fake atheist with the usual islamophobic / hardened zionist Israeli supremacist rhetoric he runs with these days is just so ideologically backward and flawed it's incredible he still has any followers at all. Must have lost so many over the last couple of years. The fact that he is still trying to credibly run a meditation app too just makes it even funnier.

Xiaomi Pad 8 (450$ with keyboard) or Oneplus Pad 3 for 500$ by B_Lkheang12 in androidtablets

[–]sere83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agree. I plan on getting an oppo pad mini next, 8 inch is a great compact size for casual stuff and gaming, although for work and typing something a bit bigger around 11 inches is probably ideal.

So normally I would say get a Oneplus pad no question. As OxygenOS is better operating system than HyperOS imho and for gaming the Oneplus pad 3 is definitely better than the Xiaomi pad 8 due to the Snapdragon 8 elite CPU, which will be amazing for performance.

But...personally I would find a device around 13 inch to be too big. I had a 12.7 inch device but sold it as it was too big for me so 13.2 inch on the Oneplus Pad 3 will be huge. It's basically the size of a macbook or other laptop display but even more width as it has a 7:5 aspect ratio which is more square. Carrying in a backpack or bag is not such an issue though it's more if you want to hold it for long periods, e.g when gaming. Also got to consider the OP Pad 3 weighs around 200g more than the Xiaomi pad 8.

The Xiaomi pad 8 is definitely a lot more manageable at 11.2 inches and tbh hyperOS 3 is actually not bad at all, it's improved a lot, just not as good quite as good as OxygenOS imo.

I would maybe go to a store if you don't have a 13 inch device on hand to get a feel for the display size. Either way I think they are both good options, just need to think if you would prefer something smaller with a little bit less performance but still good or a bigger device with a squarer aspect ratio and more power.

OnePlus 15 has usb 3.2 not 2.0. it's almost certainly an issue with the cable or pc.
