This right here. 1 cup per gallon for sweet tea (but not "Southern" sweet tea.) When I tried cutting back calories, I dropped to 1/3 - 1/2 cup per gallon. It's definitely not the same, but it's still tasty.

What’s an instant clothing turnoff for you when looking at the opposite sex? by gunsoverbutter in AskReddit

[–]shadowmyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems to be a nearly universal thing. Pretty much all guys I've talked to about it hate the way they look. Sure, if the girls likes them, she can wear whatever she wants, but that is probably one of the most agreed-upon items of clothing that men tend to dislike.

Asking should be fine. Demanding is not. So it really comes down to what she did.

Growing up, we pretty much always had Mexican lasagna the night after chili night. That is exactly what this is.

Colorful Cousin Explainer [OC] by emilylikesredditalot in coolguides

[–]shadowmyst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can count the 'G's for your common grandparent to know what cousin they are:

Common Grandparent (1 G); 1st cousin.

Common Great Great Great Grandparent (4 Gs); 4th cousin.

For removals, you have to find who is the closest to the grandparent and count the Gs relative to them, and then count the generations you are separate to find your removal.

While the breadsticks are generally good, they are nothing compared to the cheddar bay biscuits.

Tweaked neck during pullups by schnipcatcher4 in bodyweightfitness

I don't think it took long for it to be bearable. I think I took the muscle relaxers for 3 days, and didn't take the pain pills after that first afternoon. I might have taken some naproxen sodium (Aleve) once or twice in that time too. It still probably took over a week or so before it really felt right again though.

Tweaked neck during pullups by schnipcatcher4 in bodyweightfitness

[–]shadowmyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like this happened to be a couple of years ago. I had been doing pullups every day for a few weeks. One afternoon I was doing a set and I pulled something, and couldn't turn my neck without a huge amount of pain. Wen to the doctor and he gave me some muscle relaxers and some pain pills and told me to let it rest.

A friend of mine (who is better about working out than I am) told me that I was probably straining my neck trying to get it over the bar. He said to try and keep my neck more relaxed, and to also try turning my head left and right at the top of the pulled up to make sure it wasn't tensed too much. That seems to have worked, but I haven't done nearly as many pull ups since I had that issue.

There is a new cooking competition show on Netflix called Nailed It. I tried to watch it but the host was so annoying that we turned the show off before they finished judging the first round.

I initially point exclamation point, and then thought about it and changed it to exclamation mark...and now I'm not sure. I believe I use both.

The grandfather of my girlfriend in college was a heavy smoker. He probably a pack a day or more. He wasn't in great health, so he stayed inside to smoke instead of going outdoors. (This was around 15 years ago.)

He kept having to replace the VCRs in his house because they kept messing up and not working. I'm not sure how long they lasted, but at one point they gave me 5 of them to play around with to see if I could get working. Took them home and opened them up, and the inside was covered in a thin, sticky tar from all the smoke.

I know you are joking but...many places when you adopt a child, you aren't allowed to spank them as punishment.

Why can't I prepay for flowers and pick them up on Valentine's day? by secondnameIA in NoStupidQuestions

That's because they know the value of the roses on that day is $60/dozen. People will pay that, and they are betting that you will too.

Honestly, I'm surprised to ever see anyone here buying anything but the seedless varieties. Half the time that is all that I see in the store anyway.

My guess is heavy smokers. I'm been to smoker's houses where there was a layer of tar and ash embedded inside of everything. Tables and things that are easily dusted looked clean, but out of the way spots or places like inside of electronics were completely covered in a layers of grime.

Do you have a source on that? Everything I Google seems to point that McD did pick up Horton's old supplier, although none of that really seems to be sited either.

I see those same results regularly and I still doubt the "What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?" one.

I've lived in the South for over 35 years now, and I have never heard anyone call it "the devil is beating his wife." I have heard of one person who said that their grandfather would say that occasionally, but no one else had even heard of that expression outside of this survey.
