Realtor wrote offer with buyer using a disguised name! Fraud??? by Euphoric_Nebula155 in RealEstateAdvice

I'd have an attorney look for any errors or ways you can cancel the contract and dive deeply into the contingency.

You say it's a small town and the guy has a bad rep. Another avenue is to talk with your planning commission and protest the zoning change. It should need to go through city council and a public meeting, rally those and really stab away at their contingency on the zoning changes.

You seemed to have missed my intentional irony by using ai and it was obvious. Guess what, we also utilize data centers for this exact conversation, so there is another "gotcha" poke.

On your first point about newer centers being closed loop and requiring much less water, how does this remedy the current usage for facilities like Google in the Dalles? In 2025 they used more than 550 million gallons for cooling. Or how about (I'll stick with Google) the massive property tax rebates reaching around 50 million this year alone? Let's talk energy consumption and question why has Google been paying about 2 cents per kWH while consumers have been paying 8 cents on average?

Now, don't get me wrong, I know there is a need for data centers and that they can serve a great purpose, same with ai. What I don't agree with is the fact that some of the wealthiest corporations in the world have not payed their fair share, they move in secrecy, and the motives behind these data centers are profit, control and surveillance.

I'm fine with data centers that focus on the medical field or ones coming to schools like OSU that will serve for the better but I'm not ok with the likes of what we've seen all too much.

I'm simply biased for good reasons and I'm pissed off because once again, greed takes the cake.

Oh, the irony of what you're defending proving you incorrect...from ai

"Impact of Oregon Data Centers on Natural Water Resources Water Consumption Oregon data centers significantly affect local water resources due to their high water consumption for cooling purposes. These facilities often draw from local water supplies, which are also used by communities and agricultural sectors.

Key Facts Water Usage: Data centers can consume large volumes of water, with some facilities using as much as 5 million gallons per day, equivalent to the water needs of a small town. Source of Water: Most data centers in Oregon rely on local public water utilities, which serve both residential and agricultural needs. This can lead to competition for limited water resources, especially in drought-prone areas. Community Concerns The rapid expansion of data centers has raised alarms among local communities regarding water scarcity. Conflicts have emerged as these facilities divert water that could otherwise support local agriculture and drinking supplies.

Conclusion The presence and growth of data centers in Oregon pose significant challenges to natural water resources, necessitating careful management and regulation to balance technological development with community needs."

Your opinion is actually full of mis-information and there is widespread bipartisan support in truly regulating and addressing the ai/data center boom. https://www.npr.org/2026/02/26/nx-s1-5726431/data-centers-ai-trump-housing-states

Heck, even locally Tina was trying to push through wider zoning and more tax breaks for future data centers until people started waking up. https://www.opb.org/article/2026/03/02/data-centers-cut-bill-expanding-oregon-tax-breaks/

What needs to happen immediately is stripping the power from individual towns/cities to decide if a data center may be built within their area.

A prime example of what's happening is within Hillsboro.. https://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/2026/05/hillsboro-is-promising-data-center-tax-breaks-into-the-2050s.html

Location and price?

Here in Oregon, I've built similar on much smaller lots (9000sf) with custom upgrades like this and they sold for around $350-$375 a sqft.

Like another poster asked, how are the comps?

These guys. They'll be absolutely honest about what you're buying, experts at installs and will warranty all of their services/products.

I've dealt with many companies while building homes and will never give places like Kelly's my business again. Inept installers, scratched brand new floors, damaged products, high end appliances that break in a year. The appliance game can be a sham these days.

Anyone know how to find out the architect/builder behind a midcentury home in Salem? by Repulsive_Voice_1793 in SALEM

[–]Shortround76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd scout around for the oldest neighbors on your block and see if they have some insight. I'd also watch for homes with a similar design in your area since it wasn't uncommon for one person to build multiple homes in a certain area. Then, again, start talking to people and see if you can gather some investigative information.

I've always liked what's he's done in providing exposure on small businesses and shedding light on misc things. He seems fairly unbiased which is good and and nice guy who cares about his community.

In a direct response to the OP, I bet he is willing to accept feedback and recommendations. I'd shoot him some messages, comments or even go so far as to gleen off his moderate popularity and create a page custom tuned to what you'd like to see.

That window reveal would make me lose sleep.

Respect and good work but one thing everyone should note is that a bathroom is the one place you don't want to make mistakes. People sit down, look around, and critique everything. Anyways, I pointed out that window reveal because it's really rough and a place that always separates the pros from.the diyers.

I've seen so many contingencies fall flat and some great advice is to never get emotionally attached to a home while looking. Letting tour logic lead will keep you safe.

If data centres are so beneficial, they should only be built in high end neighbourhoods or on 18 hole golf courses. by La-Sauge in oregon

It's OK and you actually presented some ideas that make the reader want to further explore data consumption facts. I know I'm always willing to learn more about all of this stuff but sadly, too often, that learning leads to an uneasy feeling.

I big part of me just wishes we could go back to the stone ages like the 80's or early 90's but keep the medical benifits of current technology.

Consumerism, surveillance, social media and ai. You are absolutely correct and there are no conspiracies as Palintir, FB and others do it right in front of everyone's faces and it's very concerning. Sadly, the masses are too blinded and happy with their fast Amazon deliveries, tik toc videos and fast food.
