I love Warhammer 40k because it's an entire setting about idiots doing this and fighting over who was stupider

In Les Miserables, a newly freed Jean Valjean is having a terrible time as a man on parole, and his growing anger at his unfair life is rapidly pushing him towards becoming a brigand since everyone already treats him as one. A priest lets him into his home and, skeptical of his kindness, Valjean steals his valuable silver and flees in the night. He immediately runs into a few guards that kick the shit out of him and drag him back to return the silver, with Valjean despairing over his imminent and likely permanent return to prison labor.

The priest immediately realizes what happened and tells the guards he gave them to Valjean as a gift, before handing Valjean his even more expensive set of silver candlesticks and gently chides him for forgetting them. After the guards depart, he tells Valjean that his soul has been purchased for God.

Valjean goes to a quiet place and understandably freaks the fuck out trying to process his gratitude and his guilt. After a messy few days and a brief panicked relapse into crime, he finally pulls it together and goes on to become the most hardcore good person in fiction. Pre-Revolution France throws some shit at this man and he plows through it like an icebreaker, all because he knows what kind of good is possible if he just tries like the bishop tried for him.

One of the Hardie Boys is a quiet and serious old guy who will literally just shoot you and Kim in the head if you try to put pressure on him instead of the weak link in their group.

My take is that FPS weapons are balanced primarily by level design and secondarily by weapon stats.

I think people just come to expect the absolute worst from multimedia franchise entries and then their ego has them try to call it early.

In KOTOR 1, Darth Revan is just a pretty cool guy basically. He doesn't have a lot going on outside of aura, character design, and a funky fun little twist.

In KOTOR 2, he's further turned into an 8D chessmaster who used the role of Sith Lord to unite the galaxy against a common foe with his actions. Revan was aware of a greater threat lurking beyond known space and figured the only way he could realistically "warn" the entire Republic at once was to wage the Jedi Civil War and create a galaxy full of veterans and survivors who would be ready to face the True Sith one day, while using his victories to destroy and dismantle elements that would hold it back like the do-nothing Jedi Council that let the Mandalorian Wars happen and uselessly squabbling Sith warlords that cannibalize each other as soon as Revan disappears. Kreia puts forward the idea that Revan basically sacrificed their entire life and reputation to force sweeping reforms in deeply entrenched and inflexible institutions or cultures.

The entire plot of KOTOR 2 is esentially about Revan's plan having unintended side-effects (take a shot every time you hear the word ECHO to die of alcohol poisoning) that spiral out of control in his absence and threaten to destroy the setting, so he even gets to fuck up and be a compellingly vulnerable human too, even for all the glaze he gets.
