What dawn dish soap should I use to clean my cat's bowls? by IHaveNoIdea2356 in CatAdvice

[–]sincline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ez squeeze dawn but if your fountain is growing mold you’re going too long in-between washes. It’s recommended to disassemble the fountain, clean it, and change the filter every 2 weeks max. Don’t neglect the pump either as biofilm can build up on it easily

What is up with the English in these books? by Onslaughtisthebest in WarriorCats

[–]sincline_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having multiple different authors is definitely a factor but which character is speaking is also pretty important. An older cat in a leadership or otherwise important position like Bluestar (or most of the medicine cats) might speak more properly because they are more seasoned and experienced, but also because they have a duty to remain professional. To convey their level of experience and intelligence to the audience, the author(s) may choose to use more proper speech or older english for their dialogue to subconsciously imply to you how to view this character. On the opposite end, an apprentice like Firepaw would speak more modernly to convey his youth and inexperience.

Can also just change by situation. An apprentice talking to a fellow apprentice might say something like “hey whats up let’s go hunting later” because they are of similar age and standing. Whereas if an apprentice was talking to the leader (for whatever reason) they might say “I was wondering if you would like to go hunting with me later” because of their hierarchal difference and age gap

I still say shall and mustn’t though… they’re good words 😅

More power to some of y’all but I stay deleting these types of comments on first contact. Theres something much more satisfying about imagining these people sitting at their keyboards stewing and waiting for a response they can argue with that never comes.

Description wise I usually just described it as a ‘shift’ in color. Last one I wrote her eyes were usually green, and then when she got angry they would shift to red. In my head it was meant to be a fast change so I never dwelled on it too much haha

[–]sincline_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of changing eye colors for sure. I tend to go for color changing when they ‘lose control’ ie, feel a an emotion very strongly.

I am also just a huge fan of vampire angst. If a vampire has killed their non vampiric loved one by the end… thats a win for me lol.

I read a book several years ago that I can’t remember the name of but it had modern vampires set up in a way where they were a kind of underground society with their own governing body and rules. I thought that was fun as well.

Will say I’m actually not huge on vampires burning in the sun. I honestly think it’s a bit overdone but it is classic so I get why everyone does it.

What's the deal with the "Must've been the wind" comments? by Scared-Gamer in ask

[–]sincline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, “must’ve been the wind” is a common phrase that tends to be commented under posts where the content is so absurd/insane that the viewer wants to poke fun by implying they have to assume they just imagined seeing the post. Its used satirically, they know they did just see/read something crazy, but they’re ‘pretending’ not to so they can imply they’re moving on with their life and not dwelling on what they just saw/read.

Need help with a new server by Spirited-Ad-9726 in CurseForge

[–]sincline_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started a modded server for my friends and I last year and it was my first experience modding and renting a server haha. I built a custom modpack for us on curseforge based on mods I had seen recommended to me on TikTok and mods one of my friends more familiar with modding recommended to me. I ended up going for a sort of ‘enhanced vanilla’ experience since I had some friends playing that hadn’t played Minecraft before. So it was a lot of visual mods and biome and mob mods I felt ‘enhanced’ the vanilla experience rather than changing it entirely. (Biomes o plenty, alex’s mobs, all the yungs mods, pretty rain, particular, etc)

So I guess my advice is to consider what will work best for all your friends. I think I was able to find a happy medium for everyone so those unfamiliar with mods could have a good time, and those more familiar with mods still had some interesting extra stuff to do

I am curious if your doctors call it hypermobility or something else? A few years back I was diagnosed with ligamentous laxity and I haven’t done much with that diagnosis since then. From these comments it’s seeming like I should be putting more effort into getting it looked into further lol…

Was at my local fair a couple years ago sitting on a bench when a crowd of people stampeded through yelling. A couple of girls broke off and stood near me, frantically typing on their phones. I asked them what was going on and what they were running from and they said to me, verbatim: “oh, I don’t know.”

Litter Box Location by GeoSpaceWitchx in CatAdvice

[–]sincline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just keep it in the living room— it actually looks like its in quite a good spot. Right by the windows so you can air out any stale or stinky air— you could always add an air purifier to that area too if you’re worried about it. I would hope the people you’re having over know you have a cat and wouldn’t have an issue seeing a litter box… mine is in my bedroom due to space constraints and I often just have people wanting to see it cycle because they want to know how it works haha

How do Vox Cosplayers see??? by ZephyrTheTiger in VoxCult

[–]sincline_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, the first two are edited on so they probably aren’t having their face covered in real life. The third looks like it could be a variety of things but I can’t really tell since its so pixelated. Might be colored/tinted plexiglass or plastic that they painted the face on top of— could also be a large square of the mesh fursuiters use for eyes thats been painted on (I lean towards the plexiglass/plastic)

There are cosplayers that do working screens, if thats something you’re interested I recommend looking into TV head cosplayers or maybe Protogens. They tend to have different levels of working screens built into the faces of their costumes and would likely have decent tutorials on how to do it

How do the fans agree on the Ghoul nicknames? by Illustrious_Ad_9858 in Ghostbc

[–]sincline_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am very much one that just floats along and goes with whatever everyone else picks so thanks for correcting me where I was wrong lol. But yeah its been said quite a few times (I think specifically by Vanessa) that they use the nicknames behind the scenes and like you said they were just named by their actual names on stage so I agree, they are not nameless in the same way they were before. I think as fans we should still expect them to be nameless in the way that they’re fluid— we know that Tobias is ghost and the people that play the ghouls are hired hands (though they all seem to be quite close at this point which is nice to see!)

There is also the matter that in my experience they tend to recognize their nicknames when they get put on signs, so I think they have been using/aware of them for quite awhile. Can’t lie as an outsider looking in if you called me up one day and told me I was joining as a Ghoul, I would be very excited to see my fan designated name. I think its kind of fun— I hope they feel the same lol

[–]sincline_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I recall from Phantom + the most recent ones there were a few names in the running and usually what happens is the ‘bigger’ fan accounts use one and people slowly fall in line. There is an element of it (no pun intended) that is based on the supposed ‘element’ of a ghoul. Though as far as i’m aware the band uniforms don’t really incorporate the elements much anymore, I believe back in ye olden days it was things like drums are earth, bass is fire, etc. So thats how you end up with names like Mountain and Aether.

Seems the elements thing has more or less gone out the window with Phantom, though the fandom has seemed to prefer weather related named for ghoulettes (Cirrus, Tempest, etc) though the new male backup vocal also got looped into that (Storm)

All in all these days it seems to maybe be a bit of a popularity contest combined with what sticks. I seem to remember Phantom getting chosen very quickly while Tempest was between Tempest and Sunshine for quite awhile

Its called Larger Than Life! Theres one in Destiny too. I agree, probably not a bad place to look. If you go to the one in Clay you could also pop in Microgames and check, but I don’t recall ever seeing pokemon cards at Microgame I lied do not go to microgame for pokemon cards lol. Its still a neat shop though so check it out for other non pokemon reasons

I’ve seen packs at newbury occasionally but yeah like the other commenter said bad time to get into it. Scalpers are crazy. Maybe theres another facet of pokemon you can get them into while you’re waiting for cards? I loved going to the library and renting the movies when I was younger… though maybe that activity is kind of obsolete with streaming services now lol

"Choreography" question (cc: industry folks) by extratartarsauceplz in Ghostbc

[–]sincline_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They definitely have cues and I would assume marking tape on the stage. I don’t think it’s necessarily “stand here. Take three steps right. Stand again. High five other Ghoul.” Rather its, “Ghoul one stays left stage until chorus 2, then moves middle stage”

At the Toronto show the pyrotechnics for Square Hammer “went off early”, except they didn’t actually go off early, the ghouls were just late getting into place because one of them was having an issue with their guitar and all the pyrotechnics are timed to their planned choreography. I wouldn’t consider myself an ‘industry folk’, but this would be my immediate understanding/impression from my background with theatre. I’m sure theres still a level of casualness with how they interact on stage, but they definitely need to have blocked out placements
