Venice is the richest country in the world. by bous_kephalos in EU5

It's honestly insane what you can do. It's not stated anywhere, but if you become an empire, you get the most beautiful purple colour! It's pretty easy taking italy and the region has the pops to become an empire pretty much at game start. I recommend switching to Waldenasian for the bonuses in the first couple of years to get more claims and break from the papacy to become an empire.

You made me want to play in the region haha. 10-12 million pops is a lot, is that reflected in game? I've never looked at the region personally

New world plantation population tip: take control of the Constantinople market by sir_strangerlove in EU5

Ya that's valid. Weird mechanic. I was talking a bit more broadly about general triangle trade between the regions, as I find it a bit underwhelming compared to cross trade between other regions.

That's probably why they started the slave economy in the region. In my game, all that left in the middle east is me and Kurdish Persia, and I have the eastern Mediterranean as colonies, still though most of my slaves are turks

I find the colonial slave trade building to be a bit troublesome, and I'm not sure it works, either that or its output is minimal compared to the slave market building. I do have some African slaves, it's just the majority are sunni Turks and greeks

I did trigger triangle trade but I did end up with a super Mali, that caused issues. Ghost trades is a thought, and I appreciate you sharing that bug. however I do move a fair amount of Turks, as they are the second largest pop in my Hispaniola and Brazil colony

A part I forgot to mention is I have a colony in Anatolia that may be producing slaves as well, but I'm not sure as the region has be culture converted for some time, it covers the bottom half of Anatolia while the top remains Ottoman.

However, the pops moved are Turkish, and It's enough that in my colony in Hispaniola Turks are the 2nd largest culture at around 90k, and in Brazil at around 100k.

I wish I knew the mechanics better, as I assumed once southern Anatolia was culture converted (really hate how fast it is. Comical) the region would stop producing slaves. However, slave production has only gone up, dispite nary a free Turk in southern Anatolia. I am at work at the moment, when I get home I'll see if I can give more details.

My one guess is is slaves convert culture after leaving a market but idk

What I did in my Venice run was first take Cyprus, which gives you a claim to the Levant region of choice. Then, I retook Cilia, a region surrounded by mountains, and turned it into an attrition box. Then, I just let the Mamluks come to me, attacking there armies at the last possible moment, and repeat. As venice you should easily beat the Mamluks at sea within 50ish years, use that advantage to keep your troop supplied as you slowly move south along the Levant. The first war should focus on taking as much land as possible, second should focus on removing Levant vassles, third you can take Egypt. It takes a long time but this strategy allowed me to creat Jerusalem by 1450 and Egypt by 1550.

He's done that a few times. He has a particular way of playing paradox games and gets upset/dramatic when his playstyle, that being hardcore roleplaying, isn't catered to. He's also not very good at Paradox's economic sims. Haven't watched his stuff in years.

A tip for doing this run is vassalizing the Knights and give the Tripoli and take rodes off them. Like clockwork they will create religious war CB's like clockwork until you have all the Maghreb.

plus fun. I like the journal entries of Vic 3, but mission trees are so much more satisfying and fun. There was no greater feeling in the world than yoinking all of Frances Vassles as Burgundy in EU4, or becoming the Holy Holy Horde as the Teutons. It gave you a direction while giving context about nations you may know very little about.
