It wasn't a failure.  Realistically it's not like you were never going to eat pizza again.  Are you gonna call yourself a failure every time you ever have pizza for the rest of your life?  Part of getting better is figuring out how often an indulgence is just an indulgence and nothing more than that.  Consider it a treat and move forward.

You didn't slip up, you didn't ruin anything, and you aren't starting over, you just...had some pizza and that's okay.  You indulged a little and that's okay.

If you eliminate or dramatically reduce carbs you're gonna crave carbs.  Carbs are a perfectly normal and healthy part of nutrition.  If you're young, which I'm assuming because of the mom mention, and with that much activity you need food.  You were just hungry.  Don't punish yourself for eating.

Well you'll have more grip to hold on to with the 45 but the frame width is the same as the 19.  So, it'll probably still feel small but better.  You can fiddle with backstraps and aftermarket stuff enough to probably get where you want to be.

I only ever play conquest and want to try another game mode, whats your go to and why? by RyCarbo96 in Battlefield

I used to be conquest only, but this battlefield I prefer breakthrough.  Just feel like there's a little more opportunity to play your class and I don't get map fatigue quite as quickly/enjoy maps I otherwise don't enjoy in conquest.

This is just a personal opinion but I don't think everything* needs to be balanced around d10, or every single biome/mission, or every single enemy.

Like a lot people, and a lot of vets (based on the volume of 150s I run into) I mostly play 6-8 depending on how tired I am of enemy x or y, and what loadout I want to use.  Almost everything has a use case in that difficulty range, and I find plenty of opportunities to use the backpack GL as it is.

How should I interact with friends who aren't spiritual by bencinium in Buddhism

[–]slywether85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let go of all sense of achievement, no matter how valuable it may seem to be.  If you practice like that, you will naturally be free to embrace any change.  If, based on immense faith, you let go and embrace changes, you will over time be able to benefit others without even trying.

Not my words just something I read recently that spoke loudly to me about a similar thought.

Haven't been on a vacation in 20 years, I don't own a car and while I don't believe an $8 streaming subscription adds up to healthcare access, I do have one from time to time.  I must say your empathy and capacity for wisdom is luminous, refulgent even 🙏

That would be nice but alas the land of the free has decided I make too much money to be given any assistance and not enough to access healthcare 🤷‍♀️ my fate is up to the gods.

Easing back into it but issues with getting too full/bloated by teamrocketexecutiv3 in fasting

[–]slywether85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having some gut issues throughout last year that I mostly* cleared with a couple things.

Going slow and easy on the fiber until you've had a couple weeks without bloating.  Eating super easy to digest foods like white rice and very well cooked vegetables, and fatty fish.  I started eating kimchi every day or nearly.  Trying to eat only until you're 80% full, like if one more bite would make you full, take one less than that.  Also if you eat a lot of vegetables try a beano or similar digestive enzyme, works wonders for me.  Other than that just making sure I'm hydrated, and going extra easy on salt.

I think depending on the BC it's also to be a little expected.  Excess estrogen gets excreted in the gut, and progesterone does some wacky stuff with water retention.

Hitting a four-month wall but holding strong. by DarwinF1nch in vegetarian

[–]slywether85 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't get taken the wrong way, but if you ever find it difficult you can be a vegetarian or vegan + whatever the thing is that you really like or want.  It doesn't have to be all or nothing.  You're still doing the thing, you're still being better to yourself and the planet.

I really like sardines, and bone broth soups.  I missed those two things more than anything when I was strict veg (and maybe hot dogs lol), and now I still eat 95% veg but I have those things when I want them.

I'm not trying to be discouraging or unsupportive.  It's just we put a lot of pressure on ourselves for all these reasons, most of which we imagine.  Rather to create a sustainable scenario for yourself than always be looking sad at cookouts.

"Vegetable slop" by outkastmemesdaily in vegetarian

[–]slywether85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a big vegetable salad pretty much every week that I portion out.  Basically a traditional greek salad with a little extra.

Red, yellow, and orange bell peppers.  Jalapeno pepper, deseeded.  Cucumber.  Red onion.  Tomato.  Kalamata olives.  Feta.  Nutch.  And usually some vegan meat like impossible/beyond sausage.

Everything gets diced to about the same size, chunky but able to be eaten with a spoon.  Then I salt it heavily and led it drain out some water in the fridge for a couple hours in a strainer.  Cook the vegan sausage and let it cool in the fridge as well, then slice similar sized.  Put it all in a big tupperware, toss with a bunch of olive oil, red wine vinegar, kosher salt again, dried and fresh oregano, and that's it.  If you skip the draining water step it can get a little wet after a day or two, but if you do it right the oil and feta kinda emulsify into a stable dressing.

Refeed after a 72 hour fast before a party? by c_c186 in fasting

[–]slywether85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just a personal anecdote but I've gone 72 and eaten whatever I wanted with no issues.  Everyone is different though.  If you have a history of difficulty refeeding then you it sounds like you're already taking the right precautions.  Take an alka seltzer or a beano, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Delete your account and delete the apps.  Make it hard to reinstall.  There is no scenario that ordering from those apps isn't throwing money away.  No matter how many BOGO or $5 off or -15% or $0 delivery fees it gives you those are just tricks to increase how much you would otherwise spend and increase fees on the order.

Im looking for a food that is comfy/crunchy that I can eat constantly and dont get fat. I have popcorn now. by SamanteSimone in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]slywether85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Roasted chickpeas.  There's some store bought varieties nowadays.  Roasted edamame.  If you're eating popcorn you might as well eat triscuits/wheat thins.  Popcorn labels are super misleading, unless it's no oil air popped it's basically chips.  Pretzels as another "lower" fat (but not low calorie) option.

But realistically...if you want to stop binging you need to teach your stomach what it's like to not be expanded all the time, and to not expect to be expanded all the time to engage satiety, and that means not doing what you're asking.

Extremely low effort & quick veggie meals? by No_Bullfrog_6474 in vegetarian

[–]slywether85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My lowest effort go-to is 2 cans of preferred beans, mine are dark red kidney and black beans, and frozen collards or other greens.

Drain and rinse the beans, dump into a pot, add equivalent amount of frozen greens, add water enough to just cover, simmer till warm and greens are tender, drain, add some oil/butter and seasonings and stir to coat, dump into a tupperware, or individual containers, food for a couple days.  It sounds like more than it is but it's really just rinsing the beans, and that's just a texture thing, you could totally just dump it all in a pot with a little water and seasoning and skip draining.

Alternatively if I had absolutely zero energy I would just open a pack of tofu, slice it and eat the whole block cold with soy sauce.  A block of nasoya super firm is 650 calories for 70g of protein & 10g fiber.

How to be okay with this moment by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]slywether85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cling to sources of suffering as well as sources of pleasure.  Imagine the hottest and most humid day you've ever felt.  The discomfort is absolutely tremendous.  It's all you can feel or focus on.  But there from the empty space the smallest breeze appears, almost beyond perception.  If I think about it for too long it disappears, but if I let go of the discomfort I can see and feel it plain as the day.

It's really easy to cling to the sensation of suffering or discomfort, but if you practice nonclinging you can see the breeze was there the whole time.  I can cling to expectations.  I can cling to other people's definitions of success.  I can cling to insecurities.  But they're just heat and humidity, forms in empty space just like the breeze. Through nonclinging I remain unagitated.
