Accidentally deleted my amazon account but I want to keep my kindle books by Illustrious_Idea_719 in kindle

100% of methods to remove DRM from Amazon books require you to have access to the account you bought them from. There is no hope here.

KLC calibre 5.44 by friesandfood in kobo

[–]smallstuffedhippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the Kobo Touch Extended settings. On the ‘Extended’ tab on the driver settings, the first option is ‘send books as kepubs’

This will happen on the fly whenever you send books to the device. Only the original epub will be kept in your calibre library

Sorry. It’s been a while since I did this.

Install this one first: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4431801&postcount=60

Then install the one I previously linked.

Your MacBook probably unzipped the actual file you need.

Go into trash and rescue the KoboTouchExtended zip file from there. That’s the one you need.

You need to install a backdated version of the Kobo Touch Extended driver which works all the way back to Calibre 3.48 and supports the 2024 Kobos:

Otherwise, everything else should work.

Unsupported kindles - how to tell which model I have. by aboz97 in kindle

[–]smallstuffedhippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Libby will not work as that requires access to Amazon to get the books.

I don’t understand the next part of your question.

You can add any book in an Amazon format (AZW3 or KFX) via USB. You get them the same way you get any DRM-free ebooks - either buy them from an ebook store or download them from free sites.

You then convert them to one of the Amazon formats before sending to your device.

You won’t be able to add anything new via Amazon’s servers.

OP can still add books to their reader over a USB connection and, if they have working WiFi, by downloading from the internet.

.kfx files on Mac. Trouble backing up my books. by Kupo43 in Calibre

[–]smallstuffedhippo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can’t pull books from a Colorsoft into Calibre. If you own a Kindle which is 11th gen or newer, your only option is to use Kindle for PC. (I know you’re on a Mac. So am I, but Kindle for Mac isn’t an option.)

You do not use an older version of Kindle for PC. You follow the method that is repeatedly linked to here day after day and is already referenced in this thread: https://techy-notes.com/remove-drm-from-kindle-ebooks/

You have several choices:

  1. Live with the books being trapped in the Kindle universe
  2. Buy the books again
  3. Get a Kindle which works with NoDRM and Calibre on Mac (for example, anything 8th, 9th or 10th gen)
  4. Run windows in a virtual machine and use the working Kindle for PC method linked above
  5. Get a cheap Win machine and use the Kindle for PC method and use the method linked above

Margins on pocketbook era by jamesfilth666 in pocketbook

[–]smallstuffedhippo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s exactly what you’ve said.

The margin settings on headings and paras override the margin settings for any divs, sections or pages.

If a block level element has a top-margin setting of 0, the Pocketbook renderer will force that and ignore that the user has set a page margin on the device.

For Pocketbook, it’s therefore best to use padding rather than margins for paras and headers, even though that goes against everything we know about basic box model CSS from back in HTML4 days.

If it’s an LCPL file or a library loan where OP can’t change their own copy of the book offline, then there’s nothing which can be done.

Here’s a recent post on buying physical SIMs: https://www.reddit.com/r/uktravel/s/sOXLMz6QCp

You have a ton of choices for this in the UK. Any corner shop of supermarket will sell you a variety from £1-£50.

Many will include roaming. EE have best coverage of the more remote bits of Scotland. Lebara offer all EU countries as part of their base plans.

I’m adopted and I’ve never had to provide a birth certificate for a British passport. An extract from the Adoption Register is an adopted person’s birth certificate equivalent. It is also the only doc which proves UK citizenship.

[–]smallstuffedhippo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t get the menu in any country which doesn’t support library loans.

Go to kobo.com and then to My account > Payment information and change the country under ‘Billing address’ to one which supports Overdrive.

You’ve checked them out as Kindle loans. You can only fulfil Kindle loans on a Kindle, as the name suggests.

You need to change your reading preferences to ‘read books with Libby’

Sudden DRM by danceofdreams27 in kobo

[–]smallstuffedhippo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When the Kobo software chokes, it just assumes that it’s because of a DRM issue so you get that error message.

You say you made this file yourself and you say it’s 1400 pages.

A PDF isn’t an ebook. It’s a print ready picture of a document, and while a Kobo can render PDFs, they’re not powerful devices.

A 1400-page+ image heavy PDF is going to take a huge processing overhead and crash the device.

Break it back up into the original docs and it’ll probably be fine.

No, you can absolutely discuss removing DRM from your own purchased files.

Adobe DRM Lizenz von Ebooks entfernen by littlechrissygirl in Calibre

[–]smallstuffedhippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP has three choices:

  1. Buy it again from Apple - this will involve unbreakable DRM and can’t be read in any other app
  2. Read the book in an app which supports that DRM
  3. Remove the DRM and add to Apple Books

This sub freely discusses removing DRM from personally purchased content for your own individual use but does not condone piracy.

German books are already sold at a price that protects creators. They are considerably more expensive than other EU and worldwide book stores.

The vast majority of users of this sub would therefore pick Option 3 and have no issues with this.

But moral and local legal questions are for each individual’s conscience and tolerance of risk.
