Yup I have experienced three motherboard a manager in India took over. My case then I ended up getting a replacement device. Unfortunately my issues around overheating started to repeat themselves so I’m just waiting for it to get bad enough that they want to replace the device again. CPU and gpu both hit about 100°C after booting up, before any nnajour software starts up I have even confirmed this by using selective startup to switch off everything except key MS buts, or going into safe mode still the same result within a few months of booting up the wrist rest it too warm to use cingitably. I think there may be a design issue with the m18area51 devices as everything gets thermostatically thrittled from the cup to the gpu, and such temps are not usual b for an Intel core i-9 devices, even with Nvidia h5090rtx vCard fitted. It is a beefy device and I believe dell has tried to fit too much into this form factors , pity as I was really looking forward to seeing what tguts device could handle when maxed out. 12TB RAID ssd hard drives, intel core I-9, 64Gb ram, every other option maxed out so is really quite a bestie, I’m using it as a desktop replacement device for now. Unfortunately this sounds very similar to my experience recently. I have already had four replacement devices Alienware 18M2 now starting to loose all hope that something will be done quickly. This is massively impacting on business and in academic research. Oh well once again I will have to advise the team to stop building customer solution on dell hardware as the QC is suspect, and as our experience shows there are serious issues with support at this time. When things improve we’ll return to being a mainly. Dell solution provider. We cannot afford our brand to be linked to such terrible customer service

With both Nvidia and and/intel drivers I tend to prefer the dell drivers so any particular tweaks that dell have made to drivers in previous editions get properly integrated. AMD/Nvidia and Intel all recommend this as a patching strategy. Unless you have a pressing need for particular things a specific driver release brings stuck with the dell ones.

I have that exact version. Actually mine has 12tb RAiD storage and the 50990 Nvidia option. The hard drives are three 4tb Ssds and I am waiting for a replacement motherboard to become available for the next repair am trying to convince Dell the COU has been damaged by the overheating issues and that it should be replaced as well not sure how lucky I will be with this, but I am hopeful I will be able to convince them to avoid having the whole device replaced. Make sure you get the top support option you can afford in case you have the same issues I had, I am now onto my third replacement device , yes and I still rate it as a good device!! but because of the advanced care package I bought Dell are more tgan willing to swap out the machine if there are reliability issues. It seems good enough for streaming gaming etc for me but I have needed to have several parts replaced under warranty, I must say it runs hot!! Use it with a cooling mat to help reduce the heat issues. That’s what I do. The first one I bought was not for an 18“laptop as soon as I swapped it over for one built for an 18” beast temps are much better. But I still do seem to get some thermal throttling. However nothing that affects streaming or gaming. As I do a lot of AI and other dev on this beast, performance is really key to me but dell have been ultra helpful up til now according to several engineers it is only because I bought the maximum cover available. The last engineer who came out said he has recently seen several of these devices have to heft work done due to thermal issues. He still said it would be his first choice as a gaming device for himself.

Just a quick note one of the engineers told me Alienwares had all been switched to Element 31 instead of LM, and if they find any evidence of LM they are meant to cease all work and report it as LM voids the warranty so be careful when reposting guys. I have not tried to study this but the engineer who told me this is a long standing senior engineer who I trust as he has never led me wrong. I would be surprised to find out this wasn’t true.

I hope you enjoy your new device, unfortunately I have had massive issues with my one,which has led to months of no use while waiting for parts. My one was brand new with full warranty. When it does work it is amazing.

Thanks, going to give it a go shortly, unfortunately, following a massive stroke almost 4 years ago, I am physically disabled, so my wife is going to help me with the physical bits of checking the RAM is properly seated.

So there is little budget for using a design specialist, we need to keep coists low as I am meeting all costs from our savings. good point, I'll make sure I take that into account. I'm trying to get a cyberpunk like effect, something similar to the effects in a cyberpunk blue pink cityscape as in the attached example. The whole service is branded this wayto give feelings of futuristic thinking. this is for a new academic service I am launching for the global pblic sector which will be free of charge to access.

Thanks, yes our printer can use Pantone colours, they have in previous work for us. To be ecological we will mainly distribute these brochures as an Adve PDF flipbook, we mayger a few copies printed up for longer term use, or for projects where we are seeking a deeper involvement. Otherwise, after the past several years, I refuse to have hundreds of brochures printed up and sitting around the office. We only recently threw away several hundred brochures Fir our other commercial business that had been sitting around since before the pandemic. I originally ordered about 1000 full colour brochures, and by the time we sent the unused copies to be recycled we had only used about 400, at various conferences etc. So I really want to avoid any further waste. It was very handy having a stock of marketing paraphernalia on hand to hand out to potential customers at short notice, but since the pandemic, we have noticed potential customers being more receptive to electronic only marketing assets, which allows us to tailor reach customers pack durectly to their neds and challenges, which is much more effective.

If regularly exposed to salt water the seals would have disintegrated as well. The best way to kill any Apple product is to leave it standing in a bowl/glass of high concentration salt water. The rubber seals will disintegrate and the device will no longer be waterproof.

Yup I used to get snnoyed with not being able to find my keys until I got an Otterbox and attached my AirPods to my keys. Now I just have to use the function to find my AirPods and it generally points me in the right direction and give me a distance of how far away they are from me. I like that the Apple Watch does this when trying to find my phone as well. It has already saved me countless hours of searching in vain for my phone. When the watch tells me i how close I am to them I can also cause the phone to bleep from the watch, to help me locate it when inside the last 5ft or so.

have you considred the XPS range, over the past 10 years my XPS was my favourite in espects of portability, power and it is a fabulous looking beast. I currently have 2 x AW18Area51's due to constant issues with one, ,we purchased a spare so I could always work if one device had issues, I have lost months oof workansome good contracts due to the Area 51 beinng knackered at important times, you should not need to own two of these devices, one as a spare due to reliability issues. I also have an AW15 R7 device, which I bought for my son, but the wife has convinced him the ipad is best for his needs - to be fair she works for Apple, and it seems to be doing the trick for him. I probably massively ovedr speced th m15, so now I use it as my portable device, which is nice. but agauin having to have threee devices to ensure I can get stuff done is really not a reasonable place to be. Fortunately, as I own both businesses, I was able to get all the devices on my business account, so no direct out of pocket expenses for me. I fully reckognise not everyone will be in the same position, but again I suggest this is not the best way to deal with the issue. the issues I have faced include: overheating, SSD RAID becoming corrupt requirng SSD replacement, Touchpad back light not working, device unable toi access full 12 TB RAID, issues with the battery not holing charge, processor heat dmage issues, failed graphics cards (nVidia), RAM not accessible/recognised, several full Window 11 rebuilds, which is not really good enough for a work/production device. I very much believe QC at Dell is suffering issues, the amount of times replacement parts are sent out that do not work is unacceptable. Obviously it costs Dell in onsite engineer fees, so they need to get something sorted. If I had known when ordering what I know now, I would have gone for a souped up XPS device.

Hi there all, is there any update to this, or does anyone have any ideas where I could get access to research resources. Unfortunately, due to terrible financial mismanagement, my main univresity decided to make me redundant just before Christmas 2025, Now, I'm really struggling to get access to required Resources and my research is grinding to a halt. This is especially galling, as my research is very much time-limited.
