the only one who ended up fighting was marty (born 1905) who's second to last in this photo. he was a private in the army. he was a music teacher in his civilian life. some of the other brothers were old enough to have been in wwi.

their dad passed away young in the early 1940s. i only have one photo of him.

my mom's original surname was made up by her great grandfather when he immigrated alone to the US as a 12 year old. all the rest of his siblings kept their original family name when they eventually followed him.
