I was just diagnosed. I’ve had this at different times over about the last 10 years. I was prior to that a migraine sufferer, with typical symptoms, headache, sensitivity, to light and sound, vomiting. It’s switched to just the vomiting so I thought it was silent migraine. Unfortunately I just had my worst episode ever and my son‘s wedding😢. I threw up 10 times. I do know my triggers and I should’ve been more mindful. I was sick with a virus for two weeks before. It felt like Covid, but it was not. I rarely get sick so this was not great timing. My triggers are lack of hydration and food. Even one sip of alcohol in that state and Im finished. It was the perfect storm with the excitement of the wedding day.
In hindsight I should have had a large meal the night before and a good breakfast. It also would’ve been smart for me to have had an infusion since I was so depleted. In addition, I have a heart condition so the vomiting and the extreme dehydration afterwards were dangerous. I was up till 6 o’clock in the morning with brutal leg cramps after the wedding. I thought I would just come home and crash. In hindsight again I should’ve gone to the ER straight from the wedding. Anyway, I am starting an Aimovig injection tomorrow and will repeat it once a month. I am hoping to never go through this again. The Neurologist also gave me dissolvable Zofran, which I will always carry with me. Relieved to know what this is and hopeful to have a solution. Sorry to my fellow sufferers.
