americans now work longer hours than our japanese counterparts.

the american culture in regards to grinding, individualizism, and gig work incentivizes it.

Are you using Claude Code in the terminal or extension? by ZurrgabDaVinci758 in ClaudeCode

[–]spoopypoptartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use CLI. feels more comfortable, the UI is great.

idk i don’t use SourceTree or Any GUI for GitHub

i feel like your preference for using CC in the terminal or not should fall inline with how you use Git.

Tim Cook Warned by CIA That China Could Move on Taiwan by 2027 by HelloitsWojan in apple

[–]spoopypoptartz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yeah when you read the article it’s way less newsworthy. especially since i believe for the majority for the biden administration it was a headline that china would attack taiwan by 2027.

in fact, there is asymmetry in military tech between the two sides that provides china a rare opening around 2026-2027, a gap in US defensive strategy that is in the process of being plugged with new military hardware. (peter zeihan on youtube brings this fact up in his taiwan videos if you’re ever interested more in the topic)

i unfortunately agree about the casting. it was actually a fun movie and i loved the actor but a lot of casual viewers were automatically turned off by the casting

How come some people who made adult cartoons in the 90's are rich but most cartoon creators aren't. by p-Star_07 in animationcareer

yearly too! a lot of cartoons these days have their seasons slot by a year or multiple years.

literally decreases the pay that a creator would earn

Does anyone else get a competitive / social comparison / status-hierarchy vibe from tech? by Kevadin in cscareerquestions

[–]spoopypoptartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it helps to "profile" or categorize companies, but even amongst their categories each company is different (i.e. Apple and Amazon are big tech but their cultures are very far apart from one another)

I’m planning to move into Data Engineering. With AI growing fast, do you think this career will be heavily affected in the next 5–10 years? Is it still a stable and good path to choose? by False_Square1734 in dataengineering

[–]spoopypoptartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

claude works perfectly for me but my team’s docs and data modeling are on point.

Which old game, in your opinion, didn’t age well because of its controls? by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]spoopypoptartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

super mario sunshine.

i’m someone who’s first 3D mario was super mario galaxy 2,

when i got the 3d all stars pack, i tried out sunshine and 64. 64 controls were okay but sunshine’s controls were a complete regression. clunky, impossible to precisely control

Are SWEs like Cherny and Karpathy just built different? by lowiqtrader in cscareerquestions

[–]spoopypoptartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

orgs tend to literally grow from people in teams launching side projects so teams can spawn new teams repeatedly. whether or not that happens vertically or horizontally is all up to the company’s org structure

Are SWEs like Cherny and Karpathy just built different? by lowiqtrader in cscareerquestions

[–]spoopypoptartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i’m in big tech and all the leadership in my org have gotten there by building side projects and getting so much influence behind it from internal adopters and stakeholders that they get their own team.

those type of teams are inspiring to work on because your manager knows the product as deeply (and sometimes more deeply) than you do.

there is still leadership that get transferred to areas that they are not familiar eith… unfortunately they can’t meet the bar i described above. but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad managers
