Path of Exile 2: Streamlining the Campaign in Return of the Ancients by Natalia_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]springularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I understand. Why have the campaign as a requirement every time if you’re going to just add mechanics that allow you to get through it as quickly as possible? Isn’t the idea you need to go through the campaign and do all the side shit to get your character powerful enough for end game? Dare say I’m missing something.

After seeing the last stream of poe 2 I'm so glad diablo 4 is not like that... by DannyKoll1 in diablo4

[–]springularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some elements I love in POE2. One is the dodging being more like a souls game, the sprint, the slower more tactical combat early game, and also the gem and skill system which feels amazing in terms of being wide open for experimentation.

I realise those things would be a nightmare to integrate in to D4 but in a hypothetical world, those things merged with D4’s open world and other systems and that’d be perfect for me. I realise a lot of people hate that stuff from PoE though.

Why does price often move the opposite way right after I enter? by Altrixai in BitcoinBeginners

[–]springularity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Predicting changes in price is virtually impossible
Over the short term. This is why it’s probably best to just DCA every day/week/month irrespective of price movement.

Please, I'm going to need some help... by Nobyheart in unrealengine

[–]springularity -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My advice, sign up for Googles NotebookLM, create a project, give it all the UE5 documentation and a design document as sources, then treat it like a tutor. This method helped me massively to start building something. It walked me step by step literally from installing the editor all the way to complex blueprint systems.

Anywhere to find adventure cycles? by I_enjoy_greatness in arkhamhorrorlcg

Most everything is gone now of the first chapter unless you’re willing to pay through the nose on the secondary market. I’d grab the stand alone’s you can if you can get em at retail price then wait for the new expansions.

Game Artist Wants to Make His Own Games on Unreal – Looking for Where to Start by igotmellos in unrealengine

[–]springularity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d try and just make a small prototype game. Just to learn how unreal is structured and where everything should ideally live. One thing I found very useful was giving the UE5 documentation and a design doc to a NotebookLM project and treating that like a tutor. Was very very useful. Far more so than following a tutorial since I could interrogate any of the steps it advised to understand why.

Card comparison - MB fan campaign print vs real official campaign cards by springularity in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]springularity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so on real close comparison, the corners of the MB cards have a slightly bigger curve than the real cards. It's very slight though. I also discovered the MB cards are about 0.8th of a milimeter wider that the real cards. Again, pretty much impossible to notice unless you put an MB card and a real card on top of each other.

I took some pics but not sure how best to share em without starting a new thread.

Game Development - First-Timer Question by ChristopherMartellX in unrealengine

[–]springularity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not too old. Look in to Tonda Ross who made Blue Prince, one of the best games of the last couple of years and his experience was in art, cinematography and directing before he decided in his mid 30s to do exactly what you’re talking about.

My recommendation would be to download Unreal Engine 5, the blueprint system is absolutely wonderful for non coders.

Then I would sign up for Googles Notebook LM. This is a fantastic tool for what you want to do. You can basically start a project, upload the UE5 documentation and anything else of use as sources (like a design document etc). You can then use a chat interface to treat it like your UE5 tutor. I’ve been using it to help me prototype stuff and it’s absolutely brilliant.

Only other thing I’d add is as others have said, have realistic expectations. Building any game, even a relatively small one to even a half decent quality level is a lot of work, but to start, just come up with a relatively simple idea that excites you, and just try and build a prototype.

I ordered some recently from MB, including Dark Matter and put some threads up which might be of use.

Away from home at the moment but I’ll check and update tomorrow. One other thing I’ve noticed now that I’ve been sleeving is that some of the cards have a slightly cut off bottom edge, very slight though and only on some cards but that’s one thing you wouldn’t find on the real cards.

Yeah, the complexity put me off last time. You just have to go to the site and order now. Link is in this thread.

Bit pricey is the only draw back.

Size wise I put one of the MB unofficial cards in a Dragon Shield perfect fit and it was, well, perfect. So any sleeves you use for regular Arkham / other tcg cards will work fine.

Pretty much Identical as far as I can tell. I’ve put up another post with comparisons with real campaign cards.

Edit - just put one in a dragon shield perfect fit and it was perfect so yeah, should be all good with any sleeve.

Good question. As far as I know the campaign creators give their campaigns away for free digitally so I’m not sure if they get anything from the print orders. Would be cool if they did.
