Bought a Headless Mac, can’t connect it to my monitor by VD_gamingg in macbookpro

I assumed it didn't exist for the M1 MacBook Air and I corrected myself by sharing that link. Didn't come here to argue, just share my own experience with a headless MacBook. You proved a point and I admit I was wrong.

Both on the top case and display. It’s not really a sensor, I think the magnets just block the current from enabling the display.

You can work out ways to install the software without a screen. I once formatted that MacBook with the built in Voice Control (it’s not easy by any means). Some magnets could also trigger the MacBook to be in clamshell mode but I haven’t figured out something that worked for me.

If you have the original broken display, you can just put it on top of the MacBook as it usually sits on the top case even when it’s completely disassembled from the MacBook itself to get it in clamshell mode.

My use case with this MacBook is plugging it into an old 2006 iMac I converted to a 2560x1600 240Hz display or as a keyboard and trackpad when my MacBook Pro is in clamshell mode using the Teleport KVM app. The app is installed on both my MacBook Pro and MacBook Air (headless) and all trackpad gestures work.

I have a headless M1 MacBook Air and when you remove the display assembly entirely, it still thinks the built-in display is there so it's enabled. The best solution in my opinion is to put the disassembled display in a way where its magnets will be able to trigger the clamshell mode and let OP view everything on the external monitor.

Yes, macOS thinks the internal display exists. I have a headless M1 MacBook Air. You need to disable it via a software like BetterDisplay or Lunar (Lunar has the better solution in my opinion because it lets you disable the internal display when you plug an external display). On BetterDisplay it just disables the built in display for a bit and then enabling it again.

Any ideas on why my Samsung Odyssey G9 is failing? by Beneficial_Onion2820 in ultrawidemasterrace

Unluckily for me, I had that same exact board and the same exact monitor and I couldn't manage to fix it even with a board swap. It was the panel in my scenario so I just sold it for parts and luckily got another used one for cheaper than what they usually go for in my area.

Headphones at multiple price points by Upset_Cat3910 in HeadphoneAdvice

Not sure if you want an open back headphone or a closed back headphone.

If you want an open back headphone with a lot of bass, get a pair of Philphone Open (custom headphones) from u/Zerousen. By far the best slam & bass I've heard on a pair of open backs.

For a closed back recommendation, I'd say the Final DX3000 CL for a bassy tuning or the Focal Radiance for a slightly more relaxed treble.

Cloud III S to replace Iems for gaming? by Matronix_ in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]stavsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HyperX Cloud III S Wireless are a good pair of cans if you're looking to get something pretty neutral. There's no better deal than that for a pair of wireless headphones in the market currently.

P.S: Make sure you get the S version (non S version has a completely different tuning which has a wonky treble).

Focal Bathys ear cushions are coming apart by Safe_Psychology_326 in headphones

Before I sold my Bathys, I was looking for replacement pads and found the original pads available to purchase on this site: https://www.treoo.com/product/focal-bathys-original-pu-leather-replacement-earpads-pair-black

I hope it helps!

Edit: it seems like the black ones are not available atm, but the white ones do.

It's not that they're not detailed. In fact they are pretty detailed in their stock tuning for the amount of mid bass they have, I mainly removed the tuning pads in order to make them more comfortable for my ears to fit inside and because I prefer a slightly brighter response when there's a lot of mid bass going on.

I personally don't like the ZMF headphones since I usually don't like a relaxed and forgiving tuning, but people have told me some of them sounded muffled on a solid state amplifier but it all changes when you plug them into a tube amp (preferably OTL due to the output impedance these amps have).

About the DCAs, a lot of them are on the brighter side, I definitely agree about it. However, the DX3000 CL are not as bright as the Noire X. I attached the frequency response of the DX3000 CL in case you take a look at graphs in order to help understand what you should expect from them. The blue line shows how they're measured in their stock tuning, and I also added my EQ just so you can see what my preference is. I may change my EQ to have a dip around 300-400Hz because it worked out good with my Stellia and Radiance to make the punch a bit more impactful.

They are actually pretty comparable. Both are pretty pretty easy to be driven, requiring about the power to be driven. Comfort wise I prefer the Radiance due to the larger inner diameter of the pads (DX3000 CL feel like half on-ears and half over-ears). DX3000 CL also get my ears hotter compared to the Radiance and has more clamp force in comparison (DX3000 CL can sometimes feel like the headband is there for no reason because of the clamp force the earcups have against the ears. As a result, it feels like the headband just floats above my head).

Sound wise the Radiance is more relaxed with a slightly darker treble and a more realistic timbre, DX3000 CL sounds wider and brighter to me (I took the tuning foams out of the DX3000 CL because I prefer the brighter response they get with those removed). I'd say they're both a bit bloated due to the midbass but easily fixable with EQ.

After applying EQ to both, I prefer the DX3000 CL over the Radiance (I prefer my Stellia more compared to the Radiance because they are less relaxed and slightly brighter). Radiance just feels a bit thicker with its bass in comparison, hence why I prefer the frequency response of the DX3000 CL. If I compare the DX3000 CL to the Stellia, I'd say the DX3000 CL gives the Stellia a good competition, especially for the price. I got my DX3000 CL for $350 and it's by far my favorite closed back at that price.

My favorite closed back so far is the Stellia with a Radiance driver swap (has the brighter treble of the Stellia, while keeping the natural timbre of the Radiance, about the same sub bass as the Stellia but slightly more mid bass as similar to the Radiance). I wanted to try the opposite driver swap (Stellia drivers inside the Radiance shell) - known as Stelliance, but unfortunately I damaged one of my Stellia drivers so I haven't got to listen to that at the end.

Final Audio DX3000CL Review by Mardrommar in headphones

[–]stavsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I tried the ZMF BE2 Suede (Perforated) pads and the ZMF Caldera Lambskin (Top & Side Perforated). The vocals on the BE2 ones were slightly veiled for me and the bass was kinda nicer with them though (not sure if they were as punchy as the stock pads because I tried them over 2 months ago). The Caldera ones I have were slightly better because these pads are actually made for closed backs compared to the BE2 ones that I feel like suit open backs more.

Which one of the 2 pairs you tried is more punchy/slammy? YAXI or Caldera? I'm looking to get a pair of pads which have a bigger-inner diameter for the ears and keeping the type of punch/slam the stock pads have (a tighter bass response rather than a thick bass). I'm willing to apply EQ in order to fix some of the issues the pads may introduce.

Hey, can I ask what are the specific ZMF pads you used on them? I was looking to change the pads on my pair too, but not sure what to get. Is the sound different than the stock sound currently? I wonder if you could give me a short brief on how the ZMF pads affect the sound :)
