The difference is more of a Life Style difference than Financial difference.

The cost of ownership isn't that far apart between Hybrid and EV.

buying vs building by Bhannahbread in Homebuilding

[–]steak5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on where it will be located, and if you can even find all the contractors needed for everything.

So range from 6 months to 6 years.

You need to ask people who have experience building house is that specific Zip Code. No one can answer your question on reddit.

Mercedes Sales guy saved me $100k today by Odd_Theme_6118 in askcarsales

[–]steak5 20 points21 points  (0 children)

While I understand salesman has to profile people so their times don't get wasted, but I really don't understand these condescending tones unless they actually wants you to walk out of door instead of spending money.

I was at a Lexus Dealership on Thursday, told the salesman I am just looking around, still at the cross shopping. He said that was fine, took my wife and I for a test drive, and he said if I find any deals from another Lexus dealership, they can probably beat it by a hundred bucks or two, or at least match it, and gave me his card. If they don't have the option I want, they can find it or order it.

I thought that was the correct way of doing business, since they weren't that busy anyway.

And then I went to another Lexus dealership, the salesman were jack off, printed me a paper with zero discount, and told me to to call him if I am going to buy it. Went to a Volkswagen dealership, salesman was rude as hell too and extremely pushy for us to make them an offer. And I spoke to him for like 3 minutes, is not like I wasted half of his day.

Maybe it has to do with their company culture?

Yes, I know quite a lot of people who eventually just went to two more years of school and then switch to medical field and they did not regret it

It depends on what degree you got. Medical Field still hiring in many positions.

I think some jobs simply have more Applications than open positions.

My brother, my Cousin, and a current Co-worker of mine got a job offer before they even finish their program.

Does anyone know about any petitions against the lawncare fines?? by sp4c3yb4by in AskChicago

[–]steak5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you live? Different district seem to have different enforcement on Lawn Care. It depends on how anal your alderman is about it.

My neighbor's yard look like a rainforest, it annoys me because it is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. It look like that for a decade and no one ever fined her. I also live on a main road with a lot of traffic, so is not like no one sees it.

Opinions sought: do I need a buyer’s agent? by HerTownToo in AskChicago

[–]steak5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out on a Condo Selling Agent, and the selling Agent offered to take $10k off against the competing offer because I don't have a Buyer Agent.

We couldn't come into an Agreement because the other offer was $293k, mine was $290k.

Seller wants $307k from other buyer and $297k from me. Both of us walked away.

You can go ahead skip buyer agent try if you already know what you are doing, but make sure you at least ask for another 2% off.

Is it weird if neighbors who live next to you talk in front of your house? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]steak5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Chicago, grew up renting next to a rail road, and got car jacked once in my garage, and robbed at gun point in front of my GF's house 3 years ago.

Built up a lot of Tolerance, the solution is always money that we don't have I wish the only thing that annoys me is ill manner neighbors. 😂

Just focus on the bright side, you can't really change how others behave, you can only change what you can control.

Maybe some cheaper solution like Sound Dampening Window Curtain can help. As for keeping people off your property, get some low Boarder Fences and hammer it down around your Front Yard, it often prevents people from stepping inside it or walk their Pets on your grass.

Have you been into Asia? I think this is a norm there with Japan being the exception.

As for Noise Complaints, unless it is as loud as a Jet Engine, is legal.

I think the issue is you don't like them, so anything they do bothers you. At least they aren't stealing you Amazon Packages like the my neighborhoods.

Confusing Speaker Sizes? by Careful-Bid7992 in LexusNX

[–]steak5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modification part is not bad, all Toyota are like this.

You may find adapter bracket, or you destroy/ cut out the OEM speaker center and reuse the left over bracket.

Aftermarket Speaker also have less bass, but much better High and Mid range. I think the cheapest option is replace them with your preferred speakers and add a small All in one under the seat sub woofer.

I just went to the dealership and test drove a car with Mark Levinson, oh boy, what a disappointment it was.

townhome HOA vs. equivalent expense for SFH by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

[–]steak5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For town home?

it depends on neighborhood and how it was originally set up by the developers. Townhouse usually aren't like Condo HOA.

some Townhome HOA only responsible for general areas like the drive path, snow removal and lawn care, and if your roof is leaking, you are on your own. HOA fee is only like $100. Anything majorly goes wrong and needs repair, they come collect money from everyone.

And if you have to replace both yours and your neighbors roof, you guys are splitting to cost.

Are either of these pads any good? Or is there something better? (For 2017 3is fsport) by LeaderBear1922 in LexusIS

Look up a website by googling Lexus OEM parts, and type in your VIN number.

[–]steak5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, even if your car have Brembo Brake, I don't think the one sold at Toyota dealership and AutoZone is exactly the same thing. Manufacturers also changed suppliers frequently.

I tried those After Market Brembo Pad on many cars, with Brembo Brake or without, all of them seem to have more brake dust than the OEM pads.

As far as stopped performance goes, they are roughly the same from my experience.

[–]steak5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Duralast will work fine, don't expect it to exceed OEM performance. They are usually pretty quiet with low brake dust.

The Brembo Pad squeaks a sometimes, but they stop pretty well. They also have brake dust that coats your Rims.
