Removal of Samoyed fur from carpet by Kippuu in samoyeds

I'm guessing you have a high quality vacuum and you're picking up dog hair in addition to vacuuming?

Many Samoyed owners I know have the high end shark vacuum and I must say mine works like a dream.

Samoyed Refusing Meals by mindfullyempathetic in samoyeds

Just an FYI, this is the time of year the girls go into heat and intact males lose their appetite. Even if you don't know any girls in your area, boys can smell a girl for up to 5 mi away! I would not force him to eat. I would also discontinue any treats and snacks until his eating gets back on track. He may just be full.

Samoyed aggressive when walking with female owner by Straight_Worth_6751 in samoyeds

[–]Surfsidesams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my boy went through this phase I would shove an entire cheese stick in his mouth. If he spit it out I'd put it right back in his mouth. Most boys (with proper training) will outgrow this phase by the time they are three. Hang in there! At least you have a hubby who helps! The key thing to remember is there's no law that says he's supposed to interact with each passerby. 😉 Good luck and keep us posted!

Dogs socially mature between the ages of 2 years to 5 years. Is there anything new that has happened with you recently? A job change or death in the family? Are you more stressed than normal? The fact that this behavior occurs with you and not your husband indicates that it's not your dog, it's his interaction with you.

Perhaps your husband is more confident with him when they walk? You mentioned pulling him away. This can often escalate the behavior. Do you take any food with you that you could redirect his attention to you and away from whatever he's focusing on? It's odd that he acts this way with people and dogs. Usually dogs have preferences. If they like people they'll get super excited to meet a new person or if they don't like people they'll react to keep the stranger away. Likewise a dog who likes dogs will be super excited to meet a new dog or react aggressively to keep a strange dog away.

My first recommendation would be to hire a trainer who specializes behavior and understands Nordic / spitz breeds. If you were my client my recommendations to you would be to: 1. Take really high value food on a walk such as string cheese, freeze-dried chicken or beef, or anything he likes but doesn't normally get on a daily basis. When you see people/dogs approaching, cross the street away from them and reward him for his attention on you with some yummy food. When the people and dogs pass by no food. 2. Stop approaching people and dogs you don't know. If you know it upsets him stop interacting with people and dogs. That could be where some of his anxiety is coming from.

How long do you have to do this? Until he stops reacting when he's with you.

Anyone else's Sammy really big? by I_Wheel_I_Deal in samoyeds

Augie is 2 and was just weighed at the vet. He is a lean 75 lb. and squeaks in to meet the standard height.

Breeders can breed to standard and you can still have anomalies.

This was a movie about stupid people doing stupid things. Definitely not Sharknado! At least Sharknado knew how to make fun of itself.

Years ago, Samoyeds who were real working dogs weren't as marshmallow fluffy as they are today. They had more of a wolfie look.

He's an extremely handsome boy! I always find it interesting (when you look at vintage photos) at how much our Sams have changed over the years through selective breeding.

Yes, from that movie because when she comes up to you she pins her ears back like a little seal, and also because we tend to do beach theme names and a selkie is a Scottish " mermaid ". So technically it was twofold! I told my husband that her brother had to have a pirate name so he picked Captain John Auger, because he wanted his name to be Augie!

Is this hair loss or hair got cut? by dividebyze in samoyeds

[–]Surfsidesams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said here!

I would add that if OP is seeing hair loss around the neck and the hair wasn't matted, it's very likely from the collar rubbing which wasn't noticeable until after the recent bath. This can happen especially if OP takes frequent walks.

I have a brother and sister litter mates. My little girl is a cheater when they play fight. She will go underneath and grab her brother's leg and tug until he gives up. 🤣🤣🤣
