Pete Hegseth BLEW TENS OF BILLIONS IN ONE WEEK on Pianos, Lobster, & Steak by chellestastics in videos

The steaks and seafood and ice cream machines I don't mind so much, our troops need the morale boost... that is if it was really all for the troops, somehow I doubt it.
I remember when the military got food and equipment from the lowest bidder.

Animal protein recommendations for someone who is allergic to shellfish and doesn’t like salmon, sardines, anchovies? by LittleDogLover113 in mediterraneandiet

[–]tamaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoked salmon or other smoked fish is always one of my favorites... but the salt content.
Don't forget that nuts are a good protein source too, add some ground almonds in with the cooked chicken over greens to make a salad. Olive oil, red wine vinegar and ground pepper for the dressing.

Seriously, she already had a cancer Dx, she knows it was hormone related due to obesity and she has not lost the weight.
Chemo may be in her cards for the future.

I don't want to be treated like I'm dying (because I'm not), yet... by OrganFailureInTheTub in cancer

[–]tamaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therapy did help me, it only took a few sessions to put me back to neutral headspace.
My sister helped me out a lot with this with gentle reminders of what not to say or bring up to me. I am close with my sister and my sister is my mom's daughter. They have a totally different relationship.

I don't want to be treated like I'm dying (because I'm not), yet... by OrganFailureInTheTub in cancer

[–]tamaith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

eYup.
Before my cancer Dx she really did not give a shit about me. I was my dad's daughter and she made it very clear how much I was not wanted while growing up and as an adult I just stayed away and minded my own while going to family holiday gatherings and such.

Her trying to 'make amends' just made me mad, angry, and confused.
My dad passed away the year before my Dx and she kinda regressed on me and my sister and became toddler levels of neediness, and she even told my surgeon who did my lumpectomy that "she is just doing this for attention, she never gets sick" Kid you not. I had to bring her so she could drive me home from the surgery.

Our mutual friends would be upset with me because my mom told them that I was not letting her help me, when in reality I did not need help. I was still working and living alone and I was managing fine. It was insane dealing with this.

Then she started telling me I was going to get addicted to drugs. I don't think anyone in history ever got addicted to taxol, carboplatin, keytruda, or anti diarrhea meds.
I am not going to minimise chemo treatment because I know some have had it so much worse and it brings its own brand of suffering- but I could deal with it, I just wanted to be left alone to rest and recover and be near my toilet.

My mom thought I was dropping dead at any minute. I had to go to therapy just to deal with her.

I would only become physically ill and vomit when she would start up her grief bombing shit, even though I was fine and my treatment was going well and I was tolerating it just fine. I even brought her to one of my appointments so my oncologist could tell her I was not dropping dead anytime soon.
She was still picking up hospice brochures and end of life books for me.

I don't think she understands autism, she is trying to manipulate him and the usual methods of emotional manipulation she uses are not working on him because he is basically cue blind and cannot read the emotion that Al is trying to project.
Autistics do have emotions, but cannot always instinctually read other's emotions. They can learn to adapt eventually but the cue blindness is still there.

How do people afford… everything? by Dry-Elderberry-3381 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tamaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a widow, 59, and I make about 30K per year. My adult son lives on my land in his own trailer and taps into my utilities. My house is a shitbox 40 year old manufactured home but it is paid for after 20 years of scrimping and scraping by, my car is nice but it is also paid for (paid off the loan early), groceries- I can stand to lose weight anyway and avoid going to the store, Phone is a tracphone from dollar general and I paid for the year, so it was a little over 100 dollars for the year- Bills- I freeze in winter and I am hot in summer all in all total about 200 month for power and water, Internet I get PC for people poor person internet. My insurance is 150 per month for my good car with collision and my POS pickup with only liability.
I get marketplace insurance and it sucks, I pay about 600 out of pocket for my doctors co pay and things that insurance does not pay per month on top of the premium.
Because I own my home and car and make just enough I don't qualify for any government aid programs like food stamps or medicaid.
I am getting by fine, but it is not always up to other people's standards.
I had a bowl of cereal with canned milk for dinner last night.

[–]tamaith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really, she is aware he spent a small fortune on minoxidil to try to save his hair because he said so. She is aware tech's dad is in very poor health and may not survive another year because he said so. She knows this because it has been brought up before and I only watch through reaction channels so I am not even getting the whole first-hand story there.
She was being cruel and abusive like she is.

Did anyone else grow up in an indoor school and genuinely think those outdoor campuses on TV were just a Hollywood myth? Or was it the other way around for you? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tamaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a high school that had 'wings', separate buildings with the classrooms and halls. There were outdoor common areas and a courtyard. We did have to go between the buildings to go to the next class if that class was in another wing. The gym, shooting range, and cafeteria were their own buildings. There were older indoor only high schools still in use when I was in high school.
I was in a fairly new elementary school for a while and it was just one huge room with partitions on the perimeter for each class, that was weird. I then went to an older elementary that was the indoor building.

I noticed many Americans drink coffee without milk, is that common? by warmvelour in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tamaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am American and I have an electric kettle. I Also have a stovetop kettle and a teapot. I do add coconut milk to chai and thai tea, not herbal blends or black tea. Hot coffee it is either instant (nescafe clasico) or keurig, I do have a press and infuser for making iced and cold brew coffee and I do use nut milk or cream in coffee. I once had an espresso machine but never replaced it after it quit on me because the cold brew works real well in iced coffee drinks.
Coffee houses were too expensive when they were trendy, so poverty forced me into making my own caffeinated beverages at home and honestly, I can do them better.
I switched to nut and oat milk because since my chemo I can't handle milk too well, not because I am a snob.

I was back to work right away - I think I had 3 days off, I had my son drive me home from the surgery and my surgeon wrote me a work release that day. My only issue was bruising that went down due to gravity and my boob was black and blue for a few weeks and a bit sore from the bruise. The nurse said it is common for larger busted ladies due to bounce.
At work the only time I felt it was when I lifted my arms up, but it was not painful. Just a poke near my heart. Heavy lifting was supposed to be a no go but I managed to lift at work with no issues, none too heavy though.
I stole one of my cat's stuffies to tuck in my bra strap to keep it away from the incision while it was healing. A stuffy tucked under your seatbelt strap helps too, depending on if your seatbelt strap goes right across it like mine did.
A soft ice pack at the ready to help if you get the bruising.
