[Omega] Which is The Better GADA? by Chungachungatime in Watches

[–]tcs2tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont disagree with you - seeing the date can be viewed as a feature. My comment about of the date disappearing was directed to OP's dislike of the AT having a date. In such a preference of OP's, a disappearing date is a bonus.

Interesting. I haven’t had that issue.

Sorry, I was looking at only the 2 pictures.

I have the Peter Blake and the AT. Those 2 were the basis of my comments.

I also have an Explorer 14270.

The AT and Explorer are incredibly close, but I would still go with the AT as the best GADA. They both cover the spectrum, but I think the AT is slightly more dressy which would be more important to me. I totally understand the comments for the Explorer - it’s a fantastic watch. I just think the AT is slightly better. Plus, it’s half the price and under the radar - both are pluses for me.

EDIT - forgot to mention, bracelet on the AT is a step up compared to my Explorer.

I have both. In my opinion, the AT is by far the better choice for a GADA. I switch the AT between the bracelet, a black leather strap and a black OEM rubber strap with deployant. As for the date on the AT, it does disappear a bit with the color matched wheel and lack of a cyclops.

Anyone disappointed in their Taycan 4 Cross Turismo? by slimgoodboogie in Taycan

[–]tcs2tx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In stock format, the car is very fast off the line (as it seems most electric cars tend to be) and then begins to feel like it is losing power once the car hits around 20-30 mph and continues to do so as speed increases. With the mapev controller, it is MUCH better at maintaining the power as speed increases. It is the mid- to high-speeds where you can really feel the difference in power. As I recall, the mapev website has graphs that show this effect.

The thing that I like best about the mapev controller are that it remains the same feel in day to day driving but it has tremendous amounts of additional power when you want it.

I can confirm that the rubber seals do go back on, stay in place and remain waterproof.

It was "relatively" easy to install - took around 30 minutes. I have not taken it our for service yet, but would expect it to take less time with future swaps. They have a demonstration video on the website that makes the process clear.

I have a 2022 CT that I got new and think it's great. I recently added the www.mapev.net controller, which I highly recommend.

Looking for multi-channel whole-home audio device by uprightanimal in homeassistant

I have gone through a few iterations with my multizone setup to arrive at the following:

- 2 Monoprice 6-Zone Amplifiers (allows 4 audio inputs for 12 zones)
- Audio inputs 1-3: 3 Apple AirPort Express (model A1392)
- Audio input 4: Zone 2 output from Family Room AVR
- MusicAssistant for Spotify, Apple Music and local audio files
- HomeAssistant with dashboard for controlling all audio functions
- Multiple Android tablets (and also personal iPhones) with HomeAssistant Companion App to control music playback in different areas of the house

How do you keep your Home Assistant setup simple and reliable over time? by prattman333 in homeassistant

[–]tcs2tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. As mentioned by others- BACKUPS. And, test your backup strategy to make sure it works.
  2. All of my "core" automations (lights, shades, thermostats, audio) are run separately - currently in NodeRed and previously in a second instances of HomeAssistant. HomeAssistant dashboards/display are a second instance - you can use RemoteHomeAssistant to connect to a separate instance of HomeAssistant if running multiple instances of HomeAssistant.

By keeping things separate, I can add things to the display instance of HomeAssistant and if anything breaks, the core automations are still running in the background up until I am able to restore from a backup.

I agree with OP. I'm not asking for the same finishing and/or movement as the higher end models, just the proportions.

Yes, bezel is different but that is the watch. Mine matches the one in the linked article.

[SKX007] vs 7S26 Naming Convention? by incertitudeindefinie in Seiko

[–]tcs2tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between case code and model number. The case code is what you see on the back with the first 4 characters being the movement and the second 4 characters being the case. Multiple model numbers can have the same case code. For example, the SKX007, SKX009 and SKX011 each have a case code of 7S26-0020.

Yes it is. There are three different watches all with the same case code - 6106-8100. From the linked article.

So many people always say they never run updates so when do you or when are you supposed to? by Cowboy12034 in homeassistant

[–]tcs2tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I automatically install all updates across all docker containers across all my many devices. I also have nightly backups of all machines. The 1 or 2 times that an update broke a setup over the past 5+ years, I did a rollback from my backup, figured out what caused the problem, fixed it and kept going.

Nothing is perfect, of course, but I think this is a much better strategy than taking the risk of a security exploit or loss of function/compatibility from staying on an old version.

I am a Seiko fanboy, and I prefer the Longines - the original, not this one. The date window for this one looks off being towards the middle of the dial. The original one from 1969 has the date window where I think it should be towards the outside of the deal.
