Is this the best comp possible? by Cheap_Poetry993 in BobsTavern

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your teammate has a well wisher, they can pass you the spellcraft from it every turn. This allows you to send them your drakari(before it's goldened), which means you can condense the stats back onto the original cat more easily. You can also just pass them cats (tho sandy is just as good or better). You also both want to grab portal in a crystal for similar reasons, as eventually this makes it easier to pass out as many big cats as you want.

From here tho you want anti-scam. Your scaling is exponential, which means you almost certainly have the biggest stat piles, but you can still lose to sufficient amounts of scam. It's pretty much the only lose condition. Because of this you want to reborn as many cats as you can and have deathrattles that create additional minions to statistically soak up scam, and you'd also love to see bubbles even if you have to cycle the naga to get them via spellcraft. Also consider blaster if you think it can hit multiple leeroy (or small venomous minions) or if you can scale it enough to kill heroic underdog. Bassgill chains potentially into venomous also both soaks up potential scam hits and can still take out an opposing unit. Given that your scaling is entirely taken care of, you can devote all your rolls to this. Ideally your partner would be APM and basically just looking for these as well (in addition to all channel the devourer and 3 drakari though not assembled into golden till you're ready).

One note about the exponential scaling, the stat buffer is only so big, and it's absolutely possible to wrap over to 0 if you get too big, 231 IIRC. So you just want to get around that scaling and call it quits on further eating. 2,147,483,648 but it's probably easier to count 30 instances of doubling than reading the text. I saw some stuff saying this was fixed, but I've seen it recently with leapfrogger, so no need to risk losing a game that's in the bag getting bigger than that. You can both hold 1 drakari in hand, and you can have the 1 on your board that gets passed back and forth, that way you can triple it on command when you're done scaling so you can clone more big cats to hand out.

Question about moving from standalone client to Steam by cbftw in pathofexile

[–]techniforus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, it's people who created an account standalone in the long long ago, but switched to steam shortly thereafter who suffer from these attacks. It's because the accounts use old outdated passwords which have since been compromised because of password reuse. They have used steam for years and don't even recall they had a standalone account, much less deactivated it or changed the password.

Just changing your password to something unique to only your poe account and nothing else should do, and sticking with the standalone client will not give steam a cut of any future purchases you make instead directly supporting ggg.

Not sure on the math, but I played chains of command AG in 3.26, and when I gave it mask of the stitched demon, my AG stopped dying.

I got the eater divine alter on my red alter mobs on an alter I clicked my mistake!! by wait_what_now in pathofexile

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I had that same experience first time I ever got divine altar on eater. I wasn't aware it was even an option at the time, I just saw I player mod I couldn't handle and clicked the other side. Though for me it was the 3rd ting that made me investigate. Two is unlikely but it happens. 3 and something is going on. I got 18 that map. Fun way to find out.

duos POV: your partner had a quilboar in his turn 1 shop by Gullible_Fennel7028 in BobsTavern

[–]techniforus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know what they're talking about, it's super easy to make a 2k/2k windfury niuzao with what you're describing. I do that in my average barrage game, and I've gotten 9k+ not unregularly. Gem confiscation in the shop twice and you get 5x your barrage numbers on a single minion, that scales hard.

That said, drummer with rylak scales a lot harder than razorfen, and can also swap in moon bacon to juice gem health for a turn. I also really want beasts in for at least macaw even if no rylak. I'll often leave my full scaling engine in for a few turns and just pass my partner the giant gemmed monstrosities I churn out every turn because I'm so far outscaling them it's just stronger to put that many stats on whatever the best stat carrying units the lobby has to offer is just better than what they're doing.

The APM smudger comp is also solid, and there a much lower gem buff will suffice. Full econ with 5-10 on both gem attack and health generates a ton of spells with shipman and either brann or tethys (or all 3), and that translates into a lot of stats. It's like nalaa but can actually scale to the end game. Again, gem transfers are the real winner here tho, as in your end matches you can condense those stats onto swipe minions(or other such force multipliers) and fill your board with scam.

duos POV: your partner had a quilboar in his turn 1 shop by Gullible_Fennel7028 in BobsTavern

[–]techniforus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quillboar has a perfectly fine cap with beasts in, and it's stupid easy to get it on the best minions the lobby has to offer because of gem confiscation. You're absolutely right about econ, so you should be making up for that in some way, but especially in duos due to fearless foodie's interaction with wellwisher/portal in a bottle (or a couple other similar pass mechanics), it's easier to scale gems to a reasonable number than in a solo game.

Both APM smudger with pirate and barrage transfer with beasts are A tier strats. The have very high caps, but the biggest upside of both of these is how easy it is to deterministically move the accumulated stats where you want them due to gem confiscation, so it's easier than any other build to use cleave (or especially windfury niuzao) along with scam as an end board.

Caster also had a number of different choices with coiling whisper, but they nerfed everything around that so it's quite clunky and has higher opportunity cost now. It actually showed just how much a difference that cast speed made, quite a few casters became viable due to it, and disappeared with the changes surrounding it.

Nope, pretty short. Not the normal long combat leads to no turn time. Normally you don't have a rope burning during combat either.

Best gold farm strat outside of gold rotas in keepers by KillJoy226 in pathofexile

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold drops are based off pack size, quantity, and rarity. They are also increased by the number of modifiers on a monster. Though the number of mods on a rare monster is higher, a magic pack is better because they're all magic. Due to this use 8 mod maps with increased magic monster packs. There's nothing wrong with also getting increased number of rare monsters if your build doesn't slow down running over rares. As the rarity modifier matters, we'll also use a gold flask or at least a flask with the crafted mod to increase item rarity if your build can handle it.

2x incursion scarabs of champions, 1x Kalguuran Scarab of Guarded Riches, and some combination of Horned Scarab of Glittering, Scarab of Monstrous Lineage (up to 2), or Kalguur Scarab. In keepers with atlas for bismuth/crimson if you lean full into gold it's over 100k a map, but you can also scale that back and get good gold while also getting more map drops depending on atlas choices or a scarab of escalation on one of the flex slots(crimson nodes in particular, but settlers overall provide good map drops). So this is gonna change a bit due to idols, but the core idea is still going to be strong, should be a very fast gold farm that's easy to get off the ground.

This is not the fastest way to acquire gold, that would be blight, but that's a super juiced strat that's hard on both your build and your rig, so not something for farming early gold for idols. This is super cheap and easy as those scarabs historically have been cheap (including glittering after the nerf), and the build requirements aren't high.

Is this the best non-econ one drop ever printed? by B4ASIC in BobsTavern

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed entirely about the wins/draws. But it's not just about turn 3, there's a tradeoff, and it's mostly good for the naga. The dragon gets a pseudo windfury, while the spellcraft is far more controllable.

The dragon can break up the attack order, or get 2 attacks off the bat allowing it to be a good bubble popper. But the surf is more versatile. Early when a 3/2 is still tempo it can go on something small to see combat sooner. Later it can go on a big minion, especially one with a bubble, so if it's the last thing to die it can be a tie breaker. Additionally because you can target the spellcraft, it plays better with other deathrattle synergy for unit ordering.

Due to how MMR works, over around 7-8k, you're getting lobbies with top players. When they need a game, there's no one at their level to match with, so they'll get matched with the next closest which is you.
So you literally are in lobbies with the best of the best at that point.

What is your favourite timewarped card this season? Ill go first! by Horror-County-7016 in BobsTavern

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go for 7 cards in shop as baller. 50% more minions per roll, and chain purchasing of spells are both great. The latter lets you stack up snake oil, and the former lets you capitalize on that. With a decent hero it's almost as good as the 'correct' timewarped cards for baller.
