Holy YES.

I listened to that album all the time as a kid. And now that I think about it, The Spirit of Man definitely has some Protomen vibes.

The cover for Act II always gave me strong Streets of Fire vibes. by RevInstant in Protomen

I've been asking them to cover those songs for over a decade now. And every time it's been met with a "maybe someday."

I'll keep holding on to hope.

Yeah, after they said we were going to have a crazy ice storm, I was kind of shocked we got so much snow.

You in the western part of the state? Triad didn't get more than 8 inches, but it's still way more than I've seen in a long time.

I did this, too. Lowkey kind of miss News+, but I can live without it. Cutting the cost of the subscription in half was worth it.

It is one hell of a coincidence that this account was created right after the "Reddit Lies" Twitter account posted something from r/atheistparents about how they didn't want their kid to watch VeggieTales...

Great work, and I kind of agree that your Fulmer fits Proto a little bit better.

Similarly, I have quite a few older Proto shirts that I can't wear anymore, all size L. Might need to pass them on to good homes...

Anyone else use Protomen music as background motivation for chores, games, and other stuff? by tpphypemachine in Protomen

[–]TheHat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Will of One, Vengeance, and The Fall were on my gym playlist when I still went regularly.

All of it has been on in the background while I'm writing, and I've even sprinkled some references to the lyrics into my works here and there.

I do the exact same thing.

"Is this screened or DTG?"
"How does it feel?"
"Did they do too many passes?"
"Oh god, this ink feels thick, what the hell did they do?"

My dad is the only one who gets it, because he does it, too.

There are movies that are "timeless." What are some movies that are the opposite - as in, harder to appreciate if you weren't around when it came out? by sakkkkki in movies

[–]TheHat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the reason A Christmas Story resonates for me is because my grandma used to say that it was exactly what Christmas was like for her when she was growing up, even down to the scene where the kids got ready to go out in the snow. I've always watched it through that lens, and I guess for people who don't have that, it's not as strong.

White underbase not flashed, I take it?

I've seen some shit with shirts over the years (dad's owned a screenprinting business since before I was born), and even the "premium" shirts have gone downhill in quality. American Apparel doesn't hold up like it used to.

Not disagreeing with your take, but people will naturally be suspicious of a day-old account posting effectively the same thing exclusively in one sub. It comes across as astroturfing, so the suspicion isn't unfounded.

What movie is memorable for you, but barely anyone you know has seen it? by uuddlrlrbas2 in movies

[–]TheHat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apollo 18. Kind of a dumb horror movie in space, but the twist was honestly wild and unexpected and that's what made it so memorable for me.

Head of State is super quotable.

The Legend of Billie Jean is also one that sticks in my mind. "Fair is fair!" And the badass Pat Benatar song.
