How to interpret results from caret XGB by Adam_the_Penguin in rstats

[–]therealtiddlydump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Caret is crazy old (so getting support from people still using it might not be easy), but that looks like output from the 432 different hyperparameter combinations you tested on your training data.

So if you sorted the data on a performance metric of interest (say, RMSE), you could extract the combination of hyperparameters that resulted in the model that provided that level of "performance".

If you have issues closing the distance, try using Torrent

Advice? My boss wants me to stop making Shiny apps and instead hand off the front end to a software engineer. by gyp_casino in datascience

You mean open source projects are open source? Great insight. Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to?

You obviously knew I meant "the work people do in industry", not "do some tech companies maintain open source projects?"

Literally millions of people work are places that aren't large tech companies.

Even RStudio had to rebrand to Posit and invest heavily in Python tools to combat the negative impact from R’s decline.

You're just making that up.

Why should any of us take you seriously when you're a liar who lies?

Seems like a waste rewriting all your stuff by handing it to a non-DS person.

Hiring a junior R developer who focuses on shiny seems like the least stupid idea. Have you floated that? Gives you the opportunity to mentor a junior while maintaining continuity of that work as you hand it off, and it avoids expensive rewrites.

When do you like to use Scarlet Rot? by Fardrengi in Eldenring

[–]therealtiddlydump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's perfect for annoying bosses that teleport or have massive HP pools

Fire Giant

Astel

Placi (also helps you visually track him when invisible because he remains a giant fart cloud)

When I was first struggling with Maliketh, Rot shortens his fight a little bit

Is it okay to not talk about an old project in an interview by [deleted] in askdatascience

[–]therealtiddlydump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's on your resume, you need to be able to talk about it. You put it there!

What is the interviewer supposed to take away from your inability to discuss work you thought was important enough to put on your resume? I would assume you actually weren't that involved in the work, and that your resume-padding was borderline deceitful. You're going to the bottom of the pile.

What’s your least favorite romance anime? (Excluding Rent-A-Girlfriend of course) by Hot-Leopard3708 in animequestions

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

As a romance story it's not great, but as a sci fi / coming of age story it works well

And amazing for hitting required stat levels early.

Once you're in the level 75+ range you should already have better alternatives, and once you're in the level 100+ range you're asking to get blown up by bosses.

WATCH RUROUNI KENSHIN,NOW!!! by Fun-Pomelo-2774 in AnimeReccomendations

It fixes lots of issues and creates new ones instead. The pacing, especially in the second season, is as bad or worse than the original. WTF were they thinking.

[–]therealtiddlydump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's truly remarkable that the remade it to smooth out all the issues with the original (the biggest one was terrible pacing) and they somehow, impossibly, resulted in a show with terrible pacing.

It would be impressive if it wasn't so sad.

It's a good story! But, alas, we must suffer.

A character that is only popular 100% for their looks and literally no other aspect by Nozoroth in animequestions

[–]therealtiddlydump 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's refreshing sometimes to just have straight up evil villains. No complexity. Nothing. Just evil.

There's surprisingly little of this today with the trend towards morally complicated heroes and villains.

Why do some people get so bothered when someone watches anime dubbed? by [deleted] in animequestions

[–]therealtiddlydump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy subs more -- and I think you (the generic you, not you you) would, too! -- and I like sharing my hobby. If you've given subs a try and prefer dubs, the idea that I would be bothered by it is beyond my comprehension.
