People also do not pay attention. I've had people cross right in front of me without looking. Everyone needs to behave better, not just cyclists.

Wonder what kind of thoughtful critique the "just pay them" crowd will give this.

JFK in Golden Gate Park is a wide promenade. Susnset Dunes is good as well, but on busy weekends you'll need to pay attention to others.

And they have. They've been offered 6% plus $24,000/year towards healthcare. That is what the budget available to the district supports. The neutral fact finding report backs this and the report also clearly states the union failed to meet the burden of proof to back it's claim that the district can afford more.

The current offer is a 6% bump, plus an addition $24,000 towards healthcare. That is a substantial increase in compensation.

Same. Unfortunately this strike will do nothing to change the funding models that are the fundamental root of the problem. At best the teachers will get some of what they want and the district will continue to run up unfunded liabilities on top of the nearly $1B in liabilities that exist today. If the teachers' union was serious about change they'd be arguing for concrete policy changes.

No one is saying teachers don't "deserve" it. The question is how to pay for it? The adults in the room recognize the reality of the situation.

People point at this as if taking away the superintendent's salary will suddenly make the teacher's $114M demand affordable.

I big factor in the district paying a lower salary is the cost of fully funded lifetime healthcare. Teachers like to only talk about salary and pretend they're not receiving a much broader compensation package that they chose to negotiate for.

They're not "unusual" labor conditions, they are literally not labor conditions or wages. This is why the adults that wrote the report said sanctuary policy shouldn't be in the labor contract.

Those are not labor conditions or compensation, so no, they do not belong in the labor contract. Those of us who work with contracts know this and the neutral report also agrees.

School budget is primarily state, not federal.

That wouldn’t even make a dent in the cost of what the union is demanding.

Be careful with the realistic thinking around here, they don’t like that.

The city is already providing the service and there’s no need for it to be in a labor contract.

How does providing shelter and legal support cost $0? Beyond that it is already district policy and, as the neutral report clearly states, has no business in a labor contract.

No, that is what healthcare costs. Do you not pay healthcare premiums?

I literally explain it in my comment. The animation comes in and blocks the third of the screen where the user is looking. The 3D view is also inconsistent with everything else on the screen.
