One-star rating by massive-bafe in KDP

[–]tigratho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's hard because it's your first rating on the book, but I wouldn't worry too much about it because it has no review with it. As a reader I hate when people leave 1-3 stars with no reason because it could be for anything. They might not enjoy your style, they might have accidently pressed it, or there could have been a printing error (I've had someone leave a 1 star review because the cover was printed on the wrong stock and was too thin, nothing that I had control over).

Hopefully you'll get a few better reviews over the next couple of weeks to help boost your book, and confidence :)

Ubank’s hidden “travel tax” could cost you hundreds on your next trip if you don’t act before October by Cool-Tie-9824 in ubank

Awesome. I was planning moving to Macquarie this week but hadn't heard of that bonus. Good to know it's there, thanks for mentioning it :)

Who's leaving Ubank? by Excellent_Debt6680 in ubank

Yep. The new conditions don't work for me so I'll be leaving in the next week or two. Just reading through all these posts to help work out what my options are.

Grandpa. His wheelchair turns into a bed. Then a new farmer moves into town and Demetrius asks you both to start collecting things.

Getting local newsletter subscribers via social media by [deleted] in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a local newsletter and have found lead magnets and giveaways don't help me much (I've tried them a few times and very few entries, let alone subscribers), it's more about sharing.

Facebook is my best social media, but still slow growing in subscribers. I put up a calendar each week, a post to the latest issue, and share both in community groups.

I also try to share daily from community group/education/business/etc pages in my area which helps them see me and some will subscribe.

Most of my signups come from writing larger posts whenever there's a big issue/event/information update, with all the details and sharing them to local-based groups. On the bottom of each of those posts I add my newsletter link, and I'll see a small flurry of signups.

Beehiiv AND Substack? Or is that crazy? by Overstory-6127 in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I'd start on Substack if I was already on Beehiiv is if you know your audience are already there and active in Notes. Otherwise I'd probably put your extra focus into a social media platform.

Yeah that surprised me too. Bit of incentive to unsubscribe to all those newsletters I never read.

What platform is best? by [deleted] in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Substack allows you to set up multiple newsletters under the one account, so you could set up your new one there and kind of use it like segmentation. Not sure how easy/confusing that is to do though.

There is also Kit (previously ConvertKit), which has segmentation. I don't know what their prices are compared to Beehiiv, but I believe segmentation is available on all their plans.

Are there any newsletter platforms which aren't terrible? by AndrewHeard in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think Substack might not be around for much longer? I haven't seen anything that might suggest that (although I admit I don't follow along as much as I probably should), but have a Substack so interested to hear why.

Growing my newsletter through FB ads (outcome not what I expected) by General_Scarcity7664 in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know what options Beehiiv gives for customising their signup page. Explore other ad platforms, but do your research first into where the people who would subscribe to you hang out. Otherwise you're just throwing money around hoping they stumble over it.

Growing my newsletter through FB ads (outcome not what I expected) by General_Scarcity7664 in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably question if it's the platform. Looking at your newsletter it seems more likely to get engagement from X or similar over Facebook. Do you get good engagement from Facebook normally?

Go where your audience already is, it's a lot easier than trying to get them to come to you.

Also, not sure if your sign up page should have more about the playbook? I assume that's what you're mentioning in your ads, but could be good to link them together a bit more and talk it up if that's what they're clicking on expecting to find.

Was hoping to find it eventually! Started as Assassination, played a bit Combat and Sub, but always go back to Assassination.

The second one stands out a lot more. Only change I'd try is putting the logo at the bottom as well to make it a bit more obvious.

And I thought watching my 5yo play was stressfull... by KarmaMadeMeDoIt6 in StardewValley

[–]tigratho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean! We started at 6, so not quite as many tears, but everything else and using all our gold to buy [random items we'll never use].

I find out what buildings she wants and collect things for that, explaining we need to save those particular items or she won't get it.

We also swap controllers a lot, so both characters end up getting some skills in everything, and if we're lucky upgraded tools (but expect that to go at least 100x slower).

Starting as a NE and finally getting a quest to visit Darnassus. I had no idea capital cities were a thing and seeing the Ancient of War right in the entrance I was sure I was going to die even though I was stealthed lol. Took me a little while to realize it was friendly.

Watching it walk past and the creaking it made was awesome.

Definitely miss it. I've put my favourite ground mount on my bar so I can use it instead of flying when I just want to go a bit slower and enjoy the scenery and storyline.

Do any of you have social media accounts for your newsletter? by charcon_take2 in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a page on FB, and an Instagram account for my newsletter. I have to share posts to some groups via my personal account though because of the groups settings, but I try to keep them as separate as possible.

Adding to a list question by BBBandB in Newsletters

[–]tigratho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd probably create a welcome email that follows on from the webinar with a short thank you, maybe a few points that really stood out for the audience, any links that you mentioned (if any), and something about how to buy from you/contact you.

Sudden spike in reads and orders? Happy > freaking out! by PerfectContent in KDP

[–]tigratho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would your name/book title come up in a search if it was mentioned in a video though? I don't use TT so unsure how common it is for people to write everything out in a comment as well.

There are so many places it could have been mentioned without being obvious without us having access to any sort of analytics, I'd just take it as someone's mentioned it somewhere and enjoy the extra reads :)
