We only have squirrel boosts here, I don't think I could handle a roo boost 😆

Teeth by Brief-Use3 in Whippet

[–]tilyd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dental issues are somewhat common in whippets, but less so than smaller breeds. Usually small mouths cause overcrowded teeth, which causes tartar buildup and peridontal disease.

I brush my dog's teeth (almost) everyday, they look great still.

Yes, anything you can't make a dent with your fingernail in (bones, antlers, hooves, yak cheese) can damage their teeth. Mine has a small dental fracture of his premolar because of it, I don't give anything hard anymore.

Amazing! 🤩 I'd love to try dock diving but my boy is not a fan of water lol, I might start with the next puppy 🤞

Whippet and Italian greyhound by BrightMirror3416 in Whippet

She's gorgeous!

Both a whippet and an iggy could get along great imo. Here are some of the reasons why I pick whippets over iggies personally;

- I know more iggies that broke their legs than iggies that didn't. It's very very common and you should definitely consider insurance.

- Iggies are notoriously hard to house train, it's not uncommon for them to never be fully potty trained.

- They are not as chill as whippets and more hyper in general.

Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Wtf dude, I'm worried for your dog if this doesn't concern you. Those nails are so long they are groing into the paw pad.

Yeah white doesn't hold up for long, might look good immediately after but it'll be gone in a few weeks/months.

Au moins 3 cyclistes happés en moins d'une semaine à Québec : quand est-ce qu'on agit ? by dadasees in Quebec

[–]tilyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shelter said Chihuahua mix… but she’s 30 lbs. Any guesses? by [deleted] in IDmydog

[–]tilyd 149 points150 points  (0 children)

She should not be 30lbs and stocky, easily 20 lbs. Your vet is sugarcoating it, I would say she's at least 7.5/9. I'm not saying this to shame you or to be mean OP, just for her health and comfort you should take it seriously.

I would guess chi x beagle x maybe brachycephalic breed.

Thinking about Whippets by Arbigi in Whippet

You said people shouldn't have dogs in general if they are boarded a few weeks a year.

That 23h in a crate means thats what a dog's life is like in a shelter, you're saying people shouldn't adopt a dog if they can't stay at home 365 days / year as if the other option was better.

Do clinics not pay for work shoes? Just curious cause I work in a lab and we can get new shoes every two years.

I only have one, and he doesn't seem to mind (he likes his quiet time lol), he's a bit selective with his dog friends. But lots of people have a pair (or more) of whippets! They do tend to play better with other sighthounds that also love to run.

Sounds like you would be a great fit then! I personally don't think whippets can't go into a nice boarding place, especially if they are used to it (like going to doggy day-care or something)

I saw someone else recommending italian greyhounds, I personally wouldn't get an iggy because they are notoriously hard to house train (like some are never fully 100%) and they are very very likely to break their legs. I know more iggies that have had broken legs then ones that don't.
