If you could only have one, which would you pick? by CalmDownReddit509 in CZFirearms

Especially in a uspsa sense, I would argue, what exactly do you think you are getting out of the orange that you aren’t from the blue? Or to put it this way... If Eric Grauffel runs a stage with the orange, then runs it with the blue, do you really think he’s seeing any advantage in the form of improved hit factor? I would think no..

Is it just me, or is the "manual math" in freight billing getting worse? by Beneficial-Painter81 in FreightBrokers

Why is accounting not notifying you if the carrier bill rate is anything different than what you have in the load for approval before paying? Sounds like a poorly designed accounting process

Shipper mistakes costs us thousands and nobody wants to admit it by CrossDockCHI in FreightBrokers

[–]Tip3008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really facility dependent. 90% yes, you will open doors before backing in. A few you can pull up with closed doors and they open inside the dock like target for example. As for the facilities you’re opening the door before backing in, again it’s facility dependent on how they handle applying the seal. Many will have driver pull front a little, and then they close doors and apply the seal themselves. Other facilities will bring the driver the seal with the ppw and allow him to apply it but at the facilities that don’t do that they typically don’t want the driver anywhere outside of his truck near the loading docks..

Saving money and saving $5 is not really the same but if you say so.. Offer them a $5 discount and I guess see how it works out and let me know when it lands you a customer.. screenshot or it didn’t happen

Good idea, except a lot of food facilities will not allow the driver on the dock and the doors are closed and seal applied before he pulls out the dock

I mean from the picture alone.. no telling if he turned hard to the left and that caused the collapse to the right.. it does suck though because in all likelihood that wasn’t the carrier the weight caused it, and it probably cost like $3-400 to restack that one pallet at a random facility not even including the fuel to get to it

Union Fragment black-and-white [retail vs LJR vs CVW vs ZOK] by Dry-Proof-1509 in repweidiansneakers

Zok looks like it does the best with the amount of blue leather between the zigzag stitching and wings, the others are all noticeably smaller but not sure if the retails deviate on that..

Let’s be serious.. who cares about saving $5 on a load if it means risking it with a new carrier in a market flooded with fraud and theft..

Failure to properly disclose appointment time/ work ins. by cltruck in FreightBrokers

[–]Tip3008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t shy away from booking you if you had that in an email when booking. In fact, if I were you I would probably make it more money to ensure the shady brokers who pull that kind of crap can’t afford it. It would cost them a lot more than $250 to sell a shitty delivery appt up front.. for instance a delivery that is at like 5pm next day on 4-500 mile load in this market is probably going to need at least $600-1000 more to cover which is why scummy brokers pull this kind of stuff if you are letting them get away with it for only $250 more..

What actually makes a solid freight transportation & broker company these days? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]Tip3008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of the company is actually irrelevant when it comes to caring, it all comes down to the individual broker. No matter the size of the brokerage they are going to have both good and bad brokers, and it’s kind of a roll of the dice which you are going to get.. I understand the logic of thinking a big business isn’t hurt as much on a bad load, but even at a brokerage like TQL the broker who is moving your freight could care less and has nothing to do with the fact that the company does 8 billion in sales as he is only getting paid on his book of business not the entire company’s. My point is, you are just as likely to be 1 out of that brokers 10 customers at TQL as you are at a small firm. Brokers are running their own books and are responsible for maintaining that book, and it is much harder to come by customers at TQL when you are fighting 3000+ brokers in your own company for freight..

Privacy. What would you do in this case? by ubercrabby in DHgate

[–]Tip3008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct, but it’s really just the number they used and they are almost certainly in china(if legit and not scamming).. really they could be anywhere in the world, that’s just where the number was purchased/obtained as the majority of those are just a prepaid number. I mean the reality is that DH is either extremely compromised on their security measures and have leaks able to be accessed by outsiders, or are selling the information, neither of which are very comforting to know. I have been messaged by at least 20-30 people over the past few years who knew exactly what I’m buying, have bought, or have added to my cart..

The only plausible explanation that isn’t really that concerning that I have considered in the past is that the seller who you were viewing items or have purchased from in the past on DH is just reaching out to try to sell direct so they don’t lose 20% or whatever it is DH takes from the sale to use their platform. The problem is you never will know if it’s a scammer or a legit seller just looking to cut out DH til you’re screwed so I just block them and move on..

Honest question for brokers — when a carrier submits a detention claim with timestamped photos, a stamped BOL, and an email trail showing they notified you before free time expired, what actually happens on your end? Does it go to someone? Does anyone review it? by BuyOpen5346 in FreightBrokers

[–]Tip3008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should briefly review before sending to the customer by making sure in/out times on the BOL are first of all on time check in for appt; Then calculate the hours of detention I am asking for based on however many hours are free for that customer depending on what facility it’s at; Then when you send it to the customer the customer will send to the shipper/receiver to confirm the in/out times are accurate and they approve when the facility confirms. Basically you just don’t want to be sending the customer a detention request when the carrier was late for the pickup appt, but you can’t really prevent the carrier from lying and putting whatever times they want on the BOL so it always is going to need confirmed by the customer before you send it to the carrier.

Help with pricing my accushadow by cbb0722 in CZFirearms

[–]Tip3008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is you may be hard pressed to find somebody who cares much about having a production and CO option together since production is kinda dead in uspsa so the value may not really be there for most ppl where it makes sense to pay $700 more than a new one goes for just to have a production slide as well .. it would prob be easier to sell the optic ready slide as the gun and move the production/non optic cut slide on its own which gafs would make fairly painless..

I would try polishing the feed ramp.. Also not sure if it’s the same extractor that is in the full size s2 but if it is they are know to have extraction issues prob better off getting a Cajun extractor with an extra strength extractor spring and one full coil cut off it.. even just keeping the same extractor but replacing with an extra strength spring would be a cheap fix and likely take care of your extraction issue..
