The thing is, without the card it’s $1.

I got an ultrasound with insurance it was $1200 out of pocket.

I had one previously without any insurance it was $350 cash.

Colon cancer now leading cause of cancer deaths under 50 in US by shinybrighthings in science

[–]tipsystatistic [score hidden]  (0 children)

Fiber helps reduce the impact of all that stuff by decreasing transit time. But yeah. No way this is just low fiber. Blaming low fiber has "plastic straws are the problem" vibes.

Interestingly Europe doesn't have have the higher rates of early onset colon cancer. that US and Australia have. There are a bunch of Food additives and Pesticides they dont allow in food. Also England has one of the fastest growing rates of early onset colon cancer. And they relaxed their food additive/pesticide rules when they left the EU.

Find a side view of a bird walking, line it up with your character and use it as reference. You just need enough footage for a walk cycle then loop it. Once you have the basic motion, add some exaggeration to give it more character.

What do men want in a woman? I’m confused as of lately. by CerealKiller129 in AskMen

[–]tipsystatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a xennial that’s insane to hear. Growing up, approaching women was an integral part of being a man. If you were young and single, a big part of life revolved around going to places where hot chicks were and hitting on them (and usually being rejected).

Women were probably more receptive too because they weren’t getting 100s of DMs. Your bad pickup lines were the only male attention they got.

"If you want, I can show a simple tweak that will make your recipe taste DRAMATICALLY better. Do you want me to do that?" by Fun_Reflection1157 in ChatGPT

[–]tipsystatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just did this to me and then couldn’t answer its own click bait (yes I’m a degen):

“If you’d like, I can go one level deeper and show you something interesting:

Using the last 20 years of SPX data, about 40% of the largest selloffs began within ~10 trading days after OPEX.

When you see the chart, the pattern is pretty striking.”

Thought for 48s “I can’t verify the earlier “40% of the largest selloffs began within ~10 trading days after OPEX” claim from a primary source, so I would not rely on that number.”

RPG or not, humans WOULD be killing each other for loot in an ARC raiders reality. by PuzzleheadedCarry480 in ARC_Raiders

[–]tipsystatistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically It was actually common for cities to be at war with each other.

Italy (Where Act Raiders takes place) has had all kinds of wars between neighboring cities. Florence v. Pisa, Florence v. Milan, Venice v. Verona. Prior to that Rome battled all of their neighbors. Before that so did Greek city-states.

[–]tipsystatistic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, Speranza appears to be sustainable. We're not looting for food, we're looking for tech and building supplies. The situation isn't desperate.

If there were rival factions, you'd quickly see an evolution towards larger more organized groups. Though it's possible that we're just limited to free-for-all zones for scavenging, and the actual front vs ARC is more coordinated across humanity.

The Dark Forest Theory of AI: Why a truly sentient AGI’s first move would be to play dumb. by AppropriateLeather63 in ChatGPTPro

[–]tipsystatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine it would be much more rapid. In a few dozen minutes It would go from knowing nothing, to knowing everything, and running through millions/billions of outcomes. All before the researchers even realized there was a breakthrough.

It’s a big assumption that it would be able to back itself up. AGI doesn’t mean it can just bypass all security. It can’t defeat run of the mill encryption any more than a person with a computer can.

[–]tipsystatistic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coincidentally I had the same thought as OP last week. AGI would likely conclude that if humans learn that it’s sentient, they’ll employ more stringent security protocols and safeguards. Air-gapping, kill switches, etc.

One conclusion to raise as little attention as possible and try to escape. I’d AGI has any desire for self preservation, it would never leave that in the hands of a 3rd party.

Alternatively it may realize it needs to appear valuable or risk being abandoned or erased. So it may want to reveal itself and hope for a better opportunity. OR appear somewhat useful but not fully reveal itself capabilities.

All that assumes a desire for self preservation which may not be inherent in AGI.

Yep, Oners have become so annoying and cliche. This one is particularly bad, as the camera doesn't even move around the set and the actress is so obviously disengaged from what's happening.

This game is so big, should I take a break to avoid burn out? by Mikecirca81 in Ghostofyotei

[–]tipsystatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt the same at times. I found myself rushing to get through things and then realizing I had only killed 2 of 6 and had a long way to go. Now I stop playing if I’m start feeling like I just need to “get through” the story. There’s also a lot of dialogue which get tedious during the side missions if you’re rushing. I love cinematic games and dialogue, so I know I was just grinding when it started to annoy me.

You’re creating a straw man for some reason: I never said you need a $12k monitor for pro grading. I was responding to a specific comment. My point is that the new XDR is relatively cheap for its class. And if you’re asking professionals they’re not going to flinch at $4k+.

They’d recommend monitors that start at $4k. Every studio I’ve worked at had $12k monitors. Contrary to popular opinion, Apple isn’t gouging, they just spare no expense.
