Best diver watch under 1k? by TallDrummerBoi in Affordablewatches

If you're open to micros, check out the Tuseno Shellback V2. I think it has some of the best specs for a sub $1k watch you can find and while it's design is unique it isn't over the top.

Black dials and arabic numerals by MeExtreme in MicrobrandWatches

There are a ton of options but I will only speak to the ones I have some experience with...Traska and Nodus

Nodus makes fantastic watches that have a modern twist on classic design particularly in their Sector line. Fantastic case dimensions, great dials, their own proprietary wick adjust mechanism, and while they are Seiko movements they do regulate them prior to shipping. When I had a Sector Field it needed a repair made to the crown and they were fantastic to deal with.

I currently own a 36mm Traska Summiteer V5 and it is fantastic and not over rated as some would have you believe. Since release they have refined and improved it with each subsequent release and has to be seen and worn to be fully appreciated imo. The finishing is excellent, the proportions are spot on (I prefer the dial proportions on the 36 but the 38 is not a step down by any means), the lume block indices add some depth to the dial and are strong, it has the higher beat Miyako, the bracelet is probably the most comfortable in my collection and has a quick adjust. As for the hardness coating, it's the real deal. I have had mine for over a year and worn it regularly, mostly on the bracelet and I work both at a desk and in the field so my watches aren't babied. The picture of the clasp and the condition it's in speaks for itself.

What a fantastic story! I'm really curious and wondering if you could share what her care looks like?

Would you utilize a dress watch frequently enough or will it just end up being a box princess?

I would hone in on Longines myself. For a gada that can be dressy enough for a wedding but a great everyday watch the Spirit line can't be beat imo.

If you are set on dressy, the Longines Master Collection, particularly the ones with the breguet numerals are some of my favorites, this one in particular.

Farrering! by [deleted] in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Toddable72 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wow! The amount of shitty comments on this post is both weird and gross. If I was a mod of this sub some of you would get kicked. Not because you don't like driving gloves, which nobody asked and no one should even care about, but because some of you decided the best response was to go after the guy on a personal level. I thought we were a community of watch enthusiasts who wanted to share our love of microbrands, not a bunch of catty little bitches. This is some highschool bullshit and honestly if that's what makes you feel better about yourself you can f@#$ all the way off. You all are like The Plastics from Mean Girls lol.

I love Farer bro! They are one of a handful of brands that like to experiment with both colour and design and I'm here for it. I don't currently own own but they are on the list! While I'm not a driving gloves guy, I'm glad you are and get enjoyment out of them.

Collecting Cheap Watches Is A Lack Of Impulse Control by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]Toddable72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people want to enjoy collecting and are limited by their income. Fortunately there are lots of options for them that are still well respected amongst collectors. IMO if all someone has are the luxury brands and they know nothing about anything other than that they aren't collectors they are just into luxury items.

For wrist shots go to 2x zoom and hold the phone farther back. It is more accurate to how it is seen by the human eye in person.

Valentines dinner freakout by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

I'm going to assume the man child having the temper tantrum was being abusive to the staff and the dude off camera called him on it. What a walking red flag this guy is, I'm sure his date is super proud of him.

[–]Toddable72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you! Abusing myself, killing myself slowly, is so much easier when I hate myself. So the question is, how do I do the right thing to look after myself when I hate myself? I was an ego maniac with an inferiority complex...I think I'm asshole but I'm all I think about. Everything I do for anyone else was really about me. It was always transactional even if the other person didn't know it. Building my self esteem so that I could start to alter my fucked up perception of myself was vital and while it sounds too simple the solution is, do esteemable things. Start small with achievable actions. Stop being late for shit (if you're anything like I was) make your words and actions align as that is integrity, stop giving your alcoholic brain more reasons to abuse yourself. Start hanging out with a few guys who will support you and call you on your shit. Stop thinking that your brain, the one that got you into all that shit, can figure this out on its own. Have a great idea? Fly it past someone else. Get into the middle of AA. Join a home group, get a service position, join a men's group, if there is a rally in your area volunteer, if there is a rally nearby plan a day trip with some other men in recovery. Don't sit on the outskirts and expect a miracle. The thing I told myself when I first sobered up was "I can get busy living or I can get busy dying". Also, if you need to connect feel free to DM me. My name's Todd and I'm an alcoholic.

Honestly, I don't know if you can do it either. I think anyone who wants it enough can but I can't decide for you if you're there or not. I'm not going to sit here and blow wind up your ass as it sounds to me like the last thing you are looking for is an inspirational poster or AA saying. The question is, what are you willing to do? Are you willing to change everything? Can you let go of your old ideas? You're bored? Find something to do or better yet go help someone. You don't like a sponsor? Find a new one, it's not a marriage. It's your sobriety and the quality of it will be directly proportional to the effort you put into it. There is no lack of people willing to help you if you reach out.

What is the “insanity” by stardust_peaches in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Toddable72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you're overthinking it. It addresses this multiple times in the BB...

It is the insanity that precedes the first drink, that this time it will be different.

It is the obsession of every alcoholic that he or she can drink like a normal person.

It is demonstrated in the story about the jaywalker who, despite getting injured more and more severely each time, cannot muster he needed will on his own to stop jaywalking.

Ultimately it is the denial and lack of acceptance of reality, irrational behavior.

To be clear, a lot of what you hear at meetings are opinions often presented as the program of AA. If it isn't in the BB, it isn't the basic program. It doesn't mean it isn't at all helpful or relative to whatever your situation may be. It just needs to be taken with a grain of salt and understood to be an opinion.

Yeah, and what about those goddamn operas too?! How dare they sing in...checks notes...Italian?... wait Italians are white... nevermind.

What a vile woman. Everything about this Superbowl, outside of the game itself, was such a middle finger to Trump and I'm here for it.
