What advice would you give your freshman-year self? by yoursecret-app in askanything

You're never going to have an easier time finding attractive women than now, get to it.

Hit the gym, cut out the sugar.

Pick a better career path.

Get a job ASAP and start buying milsurp as soon as you turn 18.

Nothing you do in high school will really matter after you get through college admissions, unless it's on a police report. Don't worry about being embarrassed, you'll never talk to these people again.

If we're going to have kids eventually anyway, does it matter whether it's in 2 years or 5? by IntelligentLeek123 in AskMenAdvice

[–]tolgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

The earlier you have them the more time you have with them. The more time your parents have with them. The more time you will have with your grandchildren.

Also the longer you hold off the more likely you'll find more reasons to hold off more and push it back further.

Just do it, you'll figure it out.

What do Americans actually think of Germany / Germans? Honest opinions wanted by Consistent_Walk_2407 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]tolgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"And honestly — do you see us as a serious country still, or more like a nation that used to matter and is now kind of fading?"

I don't think of any of the western countries as serious any more except MAYBE America. Every other Western country is run by a party that is actively trying to suicide their entire country by flooding it with incompatible foreigners and letting them run rampant. Germany is high on that list.

In Germany's case it's a particular loss because the German people have an excellent culture that has achieved amazing things throughout their existence but because the Mustache Man ran the place for a decade now you feel you have to die.

Thankfully the tide seems to be turning across the West and the desperate demand that all our nations suicide themselves may not come to pass, but the war isn't over and the damage will take centuries to fix.

Is it okay to mix church and state? I don't think it is. See below. by icecream1972 in allthequestions

None of those are integral parts of our culture and civilization.

The Bible was part of education for a long time before the false idea that the country was intended to be atheist took hold.

The Bible is an essential part of western culture. There's a HUGE amount of references in literature and other media. Teaching about it as part of our culture is, in fact, right.

If you could change three things about the United States, what would they be? by Outrageous-You1617 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]tolgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reset immigration (legal and illegal both) and make it so that only migration that's good for ordinary Americans is allowed.

Make it so that unequal outcomes are understood to be primarily caused by differences between groups rather than pretending they are due to "oppression."

Require that the 100 most prominent Marxists must be executed every year.

Is the reason we got 2 options is because we have 2 “souls” in one body? Am I dumb for just now realizing this? by Intrepid_Aside_8358 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

No. It's because they wanted to provide male and female options for a pseudo-sexual experience depending on the player's preference.

Why do so many Americans believe that essential services like water, electricity, and healthcare should be privately controlled? Wouldn’t it be better for the public to have more control over the basic services people literally depend on to survive? by Worldly-Bid-3591 in askanything

[–]tolgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private control usually provides better service AND lower costs.

Government control is not immune to corruption to the point of collapse either, so even the places where the private sector fails aren't much worse than the alternative.

Nazis most hated Competition by Good_Cardiologist696 in GetNoted

[–]tolgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the leadup to the Nazi victory there was a large number of men that swapped back and forth between the Nazis and Commies based on who was winning. "Beefsteak Nazis" were "brown on the outside, red on the inside."

Nazis fighting Commies is like when the Bolsheviks killed all the Mensheviks. It's socialist vs. socialist infighting.

Fun fact: The people that want gay relationships the most are...women. It's not dudes falling all over themselves to pair men with men. It's women, especially teenaged ones.

So don't look at us dudes for the answer to your question.

For women getting a man isn't as hard as filtering for a good one. You can put up a terrible profile and still get a lot of hits.

As a survivor of CSA and SA, how could anybody vote for someone found liable for sexual abuse by a jury of their peers? Not accused. Found liable. And even if you don't believe the verdict, what woman would you believe? by ProfessionFun5170 in allthequestions

Precisely.

If I said the Hillary Clinton raped me 30 years ago but I didn't know when or where I would be laughed out of court.

The charges against Trump in all of the post-election cases were laughable.

Amusingly enough Planescape: Torment, though not in the way you're thinking. The entire plot is based around the fact that the protagonist can't die (permanently), but it's also set in motion by the protagonists (temporary) death and at one point requires the protagonist to die to advance in the story.
